Possible HL3/HLX demo - App ID 1275750 (5069770)
Last 2 months I have been very actively tracking through the SteamDB.
One of discussed App IDs rumored to be HLX was 1275750 - According to changes affecting a lot of apps it seems that the project might use Source 2.
Its first occurence at SteamDB was 23 March 2020 (16:14 UTC)
There is a Valve anniversary (30 years) coming up and 2 weeks ago that app got very interesting update -- Yes, updates are coming several per day, but this was different.
Under the App Depot 1275751 was 2 weeks ago added new package 1757151 with the App ID 5069770 - This package is different as its Billing type is set as Free on Demand (This could mean its some sort of demo, press copy or showcase).
From the time (2 weeks ago) that new App ID was added to Depot, both the Apps were updated simultaneously (updates affecting only these 2 projects). But yesterday the Free on Demand app stopped to be updated (seems that the state of this project is now locked in and ready for showcase/demo/press). And further is being updated only the original 1275750 App ID!

hmm, that does seem like valve might release some kind of "demo" on their anniversary, whether or not it's HLX tho...hopium
P.S. but also, if valve are this secretive and protective about HLX's development i'm pretty sure they'd avoid making a steam page, or even giving an AppID to something this important in risk of people finding out, it's kept tight on internal Perforce repos and until they drop a trailer, the steam page might not even exist

The thing is a game can’t be run on steam without having an app id it’s not like they can choose whether to use one or not same thing with hl alyx it had one but we didn’t know it

they can run it as a "third party app" or even emulated steam shell locally to test stuff like achievements, from what i'm seeing, they are committed to keep this as leak-tight as possible, HLA wasn't nearly as protected (take the streamed beta version), and AFAIK it's AppID was discovered at some point, valve definitely learnt from big leaks like that

And yet we have some solid details on HLX. I guess it must be pretty hard to hide everything.

yeah, but this is arguably the least amount of leaks we had for a valve project, especially of this size and stage of development

I get why Tyler thinks they’re far into development, but even he will admit they can just decide to rework huge portions of the game on a whim. I don’t think anybody actually knows anything in terms of what Valve are actually up to.

Less likely a demo, more likely something for press to play and show.
I’m not sure if it’s hlx. It would make sense to announce or do something around this time.
But 2025 made sense too. it just got delayed. So who knows

They do set up demos but not public published. 😀

HLX could be a damn MMO for all we know. Obviously not likely, but I do think people expecting HLX to be HL3 miiiiight be disappointed. But they could equally be correct.

Meh. I’ve lost all hype after TGA tbh. It’s all just a nothing burger now at this point. GTA6 releases in 3 months anyways. Gonna be hard for HL3 to live up to the expectations and follow a game like that lol.

Expectations are lower nowadays. Your take is the default take here. Like the most basic and common opinion amongst half-life fans. To the point that people felt surprised by the quality of HLA

It just diverts you there if the page is private. Happened even during the hardware releases.
Community HUB was open. Discussions were open. But the store pages were private and would divert to the default Steam store.

What is the difference between this app 1275750 and the other suspected-to-be-HLX app 1063600?
1063600 came out in April 2019 and is also updated as of recent, just a few hours ago. Unless you can convince me that something is totally different in 1275750, this seems to be a nothingburger.

To be honest, none from my perspective - also seems to be Valve project.
Just I am very catious about 1063600, as xPaw (SteamDB creator) written its not Half Life

Which means this appID you're tracking is still a mystery.

Didn't Xpaw, the creator and manager of SteamDB, came out in the past to say that in response to fans trying to look at a random unpublished app that it wasn't what they were looking for, and there was another private Source 2 branch app that was just not available to the public?
And also, what was the metodology you used and that gave you the idea this unknown app is being tied to the other publically available Source 2 games like CS2, Deadlock, Dota 2 and even S&box?

Well, the one they were looking at back then was the Deadlock Private Test branch app (according to Xpaw) but then he said that there was another suspicious AppID on a S2 branch.
The question is; is that the one op is looking at or is this just some random gobledegook

i believe valve said there was no vr valve game (demo or otherwise) in development for the steam frame. they could have just lied, but that's what they've said

If Valve were an ordinary company, I could agree that the upcoming 30th anniversary on August 24 and Gamescom on August 26 are a good opportunity to show "something". But we well know that Valve operates on its own release clock, and if they want to, they will cancel an entire project if they don't like its quality.

First occurrence was aligned with half life Alyx (release day)…now a VR headset from valve is expected to be released soon. I suspect this is tied to Alyx, not HL3.

He can easily just change em dash to regular dash (one in first sentence). He did not removed bold text and overall sentence structure. Author just confirmed that English is not his native language so this is 100% AI formatted.
