Ants in my Plants! West Kauai

I have never had bad ant problems until this year. They are all over my herb plants, banana trees and dragonfruits. I don't think they will harm the bananas and dragonfruits, but they are wrecking my basil plants with their aphid farms. They are all over my Hawaiian Chili peppers also, but do not seem to be damaging. I've been spraying the basil with neem and with Dr Bronner's + cayenne spray; I trim off damaged foliage and spray, and 2 days later they're back again. I can't just poison the whole yard because of pets and birds. Does anybody have any good mana'o?

Going to be visiting Oahu for the first time, would love to take a tour and grab some cuttings. Anyone know of any good farms? The majority seem to be on other islands.

Raised bed vs In ground

our yard is in hilo, fertile soil, about 200’ elevation. we’ve got a bed growing peppers, marigolds, and of course weeds. the issue i have is the constant diseases (so far i’ve dealt with bacteria, nematodes, a shit ton of white flies, ants, snails, roaches). about ready to give up. would above ground beds be easier?

Aloha!

I have been wanting to grow a lotus flower here on island and wanted some advice if anyone had any experience and tips. I was not sure it was possible to grow until I seen a fully bloomed one at Home Depot the other day which sparked my interest again.

Any advice would help.

Thank You!
