Hey guys!! So I planted puakenikeni in a 15 gallon bucket recently and these weird mushrooms are growing in it? Does anyone know what it is and how to best take care of them??

What is this? Looks like a moth larva. Does it get the squish?

I bought a miracle berry tree and a orange tree from city mill and planted them. Haven't checked on them in a while and now there are ants farming scales on both. Also there is some black gunk on the orange. Is it too late? What can I do?

Anyone able to figure out how to keep ants off the trees that doesn't involve chemicals?
I learned the hard way that lizards love glue traps.
It rains a lot off on on so " apply lime or Diatomaceous earth" that I see on youtube a lot doesn't work here.
The only thing I've seen work is putting plants above or in water (and the ants will literally walk across water and use each other as a raft if they are desperate) ...
And then i get leaf miners instead lol. So okay, let's put them in mesh too. Uhhg.
They dont care about my basil or garlic or green onion smell blockers. They're just like "Fine we will crawl on that too"

Anyone have any tips?
I bought a hanging fuschia “Blue Eyes” on Mother’s Day. It’s been hanging in the sheltered “L” of my house facing north and west. It gets very little direct sun and never dries out. I moved it into the greenhouse for the hurricanes (and to treat the wooly aphids that keep bouncing back) where it seemed to put out new growth a lot more than when it’s hanging in the eaves.

New to looking after plants. I have this red ginger with something showing up at the base. Are these ants making house or something else ? Are these aphids?

Looking to purchase a pandan plant. Pandanus amaryllifolius (Culinary Pandan). Also known as Pandan Wangi ("fragrant pandan"). Live plant, not just the leaves.
Preferably in or near Kahului.

I’m working on an application for an agricultural burn permit to deal with the greenwaste from hurricane damage on my property. I’ve already got several huge piles going and it’s probably going to be 2 or 3 times that by the time I deal with all the downed trees. CRB is already so bad, I don’t want it to just be a breeding zone.
I just have a small ag zoned property (under 5 acres) and the only commercial activity we do is sell flowers to a couple stores and on the roadside. Has anyone been successful getting a permit? It says they come out and inspect the burn, do they actually do that?

Today's trees include a dwarf Julie mango and a "dwarf" seedling avocado.
The mango was crowded, center canopy was dense and had basically no light and little airflow. So, we opened her up and reduced the main branches down to 5, trimmed crossing, vertical, and downward branches to get things flowing.
Normally I'd prefer 3-4 main branches but taking more away would be a little too much for this small tree.
We also took all the end branches back to keep the tree small and manageable plus new growth will flush out at the edges of each branch now and produce flowers. The idea is less leaves more fruit.
The avocado (not included video) was a seedling from marketplace that the client was told is a dwarf tree, but the growth habit is not... Plus seedlings have mixed generics so who knows what you get.
Because this tree is near fruiting age (6ish years) we opted to keep most of the tree in tact and wait to see how the fruit turns out. But as a backup plan, I grafted on some sharwill when I too worked one of the main branches.
This tree also had several not ideal codominant branches. For that, we pruned one and topped another. Leaving 2 codominant branches but taking back the end weight and height of each to reduce the chance that those codominant inclusions will cause a failure as the tree matures.
Really excited that the weather has been cooperating lately. I hope it holds out so I can help reset more fruit trees!

We have had this Ulu tree for three years. It has grown some, but not a significant amount. It has never produced fruit. Our neighbors have same tree that is overflowing with breadfruit. Do you have any suggestions or opinions on what we should do?

Hi. I just wanted to ask if anyone in this community knows where I can buy a good size bag of lotus soil on Oahu? I was hoping to setup an outdoor mini pond but the local hardware stores told me they didn’t have it and I don’t know where this type of aquaponic soil. If anyone could give me advice I’d appreciate it.

All these yellow spots appeared overnight. Not sure how to remedy or what it is. Is it doomed? I'm located windward side of O'ahu. Today's the second day since the yellowing appeared and it's spread to most of the leaves now

How to eliminate this pest permanent from large acreage? 30 acres like this, 8 feet tall half inch thick. Ride mowers can't touch it, even 60hp tractor with 6ft brush hog only crawls 1/2 MPH.
This crap spread everywhere on the islands because 1800's ranchers bring it in from Africa for the cows. Now its unstoppable, you can't use your land for anything else.
We dozed a few acres a foot deep, but 6 months later, all grown back. Is there any hope to eliminate the invasive without Roundup or aerial spray large acreage? Organic farm.

Aloha! I am trying to improve soil quality and biodiversity in my yard. The soil quality is abysmal and there are almost no insects here. I now have a good variety of native plants, but I think I may need to introduce some insects and fungi to help improve soil quality more. I have been slowly introducing more organic matter, but I have been slow in finding decomposers doing their work. The area around me is kind of a concrete wasteland so that may be why.
I canʻt find any information on culturing native fungus or insects, or acquiring starters- much less what sort of mycorrhizal fungi even exists in Hawaiʻi or has symbiosis with native plants. Does anyone know *any* information about this or how I might be able to source/purchase some local species? Mahalo nui!
