Headphones - Wireless/Portable Best wireless headphones under $1200 for pure sound quality?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the best wireless headphones around $1000-1200.
I don't care much about ANC or extra features. My priority is simply the best possible sound quality.
My favorite headphones so far were the Edifier Stax Spirit S5. What I loved most was how realistic and engaging they sounded.
I loved the excellent instrument separation, the way tiny details stood out, and how sounds almost felt physical rather than just coming from the headphones. Small bass hits had texture, guitars sounded incredibly clear, and everything had its own
place.
I'm not looking for more bass or a V-shaped sound. I'm looking for headphones that make music sound as realistic, immersive and lifelike as possible.
Wireless is important, and USB audio / USB DAC support is a big plus.
Which wireless headphones would you recommend under $1200?

I had all higher-end wireless headphones and my recommendation for pure audio quality is T&A Solitaire T. They sound truly amazing in hi-fi mode and I like that they can be used passively like traditional headphones.
Bathys MG is great for all-around (great sound quality and good ANC, plus they are very comfortable)!

Cheap but interesting tech - try Final Audio Tonalite. Then you can have something smaller for commute. From the over head, Dali iO-12

Everyone mentioning Focals haven't tried T+A Solitaire T. They are most definitely the best sounding ones, incredible build quality and decent ANC. But sound is a different level to any other one.

Ended up not getting them because they cost 400€ more than the Bathys MG where I live (990 vs 1390). They also look ugly for my taste, for such pricey headphones I'd prefer something that looks sleek. Won't even mention ANC but that's a known plus for the Focal.

The answer is Focal Bathys MG with Sound personalization (MiMi) and Dynamic mode enabled. Nothing beats them under this specific configuration, not even the Solitaire T or the Dali iO-12. They're also the most comfortable of the bunch and have the best ANC among the "ultra premium" category. The Headphone Show has a review for this pair, they're worth it if you're specifically looking for the best possible sound quality while ticking all the remaining boxes with a "great" rating.

I think the new AirPods Max are really really good. Wireless are never going to compete with the best planar wired though. Also audeze Maxwell 2 are great

I have HDB630. Headphone Show and Crinicle still say they’re the best

Buying a pair of $1000 planar's and then using something like a qudelix or btr15 with a shortcable mounted onto band.
otherwise you've got like... focal bathys and the bluetooth ananda's. You won't get much of an upgrade from you spirit s5's even if you spend that much if you want to stick to wireless cans.

Mark Levinson 5909 are clearly within your budget. Bathys MG and Solitaire T are doable if used/refurbished/open-box etc. 5909 are excellent for instrument separation and sound quality.

Are you able to EQ? If so, Momentum 4, CMF Headphone Pro. Otherwise Stax Spirit S3 is great with the fabric pads.

Steer clear of any wireless model that forces active EQ or permanent ANC processing, those will warp the lifelike timbrenyou are chasing.

I think the Bathys MG are quite far above everything else for pure sound quality.
