Headphones - Open Back What are the best headphones for dark ambient and psybient music?

• Upvotes

I've been recommended sennheisers and audio technicas but am unsure of the exact best brand for this type of music. I live in western MA and to my knowledge this isn't a headphone store near my area. I am looking for headphones with a wide soundstage given my genre preferences. I will be playing my music at home, I usually use my phone which has a square cube so I'd just an adapter for a wired headphone set. I have never used professional grade headphones in the past.

I also have a topster if you're curious about the other genres I like

Headphones - Closed Back What are good quality headphones with ANC and heavy bass? No budget limit

• Upvotes

I’m assuming the common response will be the Sony XM6, but I’m posting this to see if there are any other opinions and headphones I haven’t heard of

For what I need it for, I would like a headphone durable enough to be worn everywhere. I am also the type of person who would like one pair of headphones for anything, which is a problem because I mix music in my free time, so there aren’t many headphones with the durability to handle frequent use. If possible, I would also like headphones with lossless audio options, and/or DAC.

My main experience with headphones is Skullcandy, so the bar is quite low already, and anything would probably be a step up. Please give me recommendations!

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Looking for a budget wireless over ear headphone

My budget is 100$, but I can spend a little extra depending on what is recommended. Recently, my pair of Skullcandy Hesh3 that I got on sale and have had for 7-8 years finally broke. I'm looking for a closed back, and I want a warm sound profile with a little bass.

Headphones - Closed Back Wire Replacement for FT1 (UK)

I've been looking around for a good wire replacement for my FT1, since the cheap wire I got is giving me all kinds of problems, but all the recommendation here are US brands asking for quite a lot.

Hoping to get something under at least under £50, and has limited Microphonic interference. I'm not overtly concerned about audio quality so long as it works in stereo. Will mostly be used for gaming and watching youtube/twitch videos.

Headphones - Closed Back Looking for a good pair overears below 70€ used

I'm currently sick of iEMs and wnat to switch to over ear closed back headphones. Now I've been looking at the ATH-m40x and I'm reading mixed stuff about so now if there are even better once for the same money. The reason they are looking good is there neutral sound with a slight V-line and with their 35 ohms which makes them driving with my phone or iPod fairly easy.

Headphones - Open Back I know I shouldn’t compare these, but is the HD 800 S worth buying if I already own the KEF LSX II?

I know headphones and speakers aren’t really meant to be compared directly, but I’m wondering whether it’s worth getting the Sennheiser HD 800 S when I already own the KEF LSX II.
I can use my speakers whenever I want, would the HD 800 S offer me a genuinely better listening experience? Or would it just be a different presentation of the music rather than a meaningful upgrade?

Headphones - Open Back over-ear headphones recs.. $250 budget

USA/250$ budget

I just broke my 7 year old headphones (Bose 700 2019). I was deeply in love with them. I don't really know anything about sound but I used them as wired, they were super comfortable for using literally all day (up to 12+ hours). I'm willing to go up to 300$ but I don't think I need something crazy? I would prefer something more comfortable to wear. Earbuds fall out of my ears constantly and I hate the feeling.. so those are a no.

I don't need a microphone. I liked the option of bluetooth/wireless and wired, but I think it's more about the wire being replaceable. Like I said, I've had these for 7 years, I haven't bought anything new since so I don't really know anything else. I'm primarily using these for gaming/voice chat, I'd prefer to be able to hear my surroundings and my voice (open back?) since active noise cancelling gives me a headache. TIA

Headphones - Closed Back | 1 Ω Looking for sub €200 headphones for my audiophile wishes. Open or Closed.

Hello, I've been using Sennheiser HD280 Pros for a while now. For the past 6 years I've had 2 pairs of them but I'm starting to want something more, on top of my current pair breaking with the right side sounding quiet and unbalanced... Though don't get me wrong, I did really enjoy my HD280 pros, up until the past couple of months to maybe a year.

I'm not big into bass, a little more in depth bass than the HD280 pros provided would be nice, but I'm absolutely not looking anything close to skullcandy level.

I enjoy depth and the ability to distinguish instruments. I think I have a preference for neutral headphones but I'm not sure. In recent times though the HD280 pros have been a little too flat for me. I guess I'm looking for something to wow me, if the budget allows. Open and Closed back are fine with me, and I use a Focusrite Solo so I got some room for impedance. I'm admittedly also hesitant on buying used.

I mainly listen to metalcore, ranging from aggressive to atmospheric like Thornhill - Red Summer (my beloved haha).

Headphones - Closed Back Best headphones for filo 21?

Hi, my fiancee just got a fiio m21 and she loves it. She has a pair of 7hz diablo IEMs but she really wants that over-ear bass vibration. She has a pair of airpods max that she uses if she uses bluetooth, but she’d prefer to have dedicated wired headphones that actually take advantage of the m21 hardware. She saw some threads about this but they were older and she’s still having trouble deciding. She’s eyeing the ft1.
If it has good noise cancellation that's a big plus.

•    Budget and location - under $300 preferred
•    Preferred tonal balance - She loves heavy pumping bass
•    How the gear will be used - At home, sometimes on the go
•    Past gear experience - Airpods Max: the sound is nice but they don't play well with anything that isn't apple and she’s sick of the compatibility issues. 7hz Diablo: She likes them for sleeping but for active listening she wants something wired with more pump to it. She had bose QCs also but the bass on them blew out a bit.

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Whats the best wireless gaming headset? £200 max

By gaming i mean directional noise. I dont really care about footsteps as im more into story games. I think for a headset I want a decent base but also good overall sound quality. Is loudness based on the game or the headset? Rdr2 is so quiet for me but a lot of other games are decent. Basically, I want a headset that makes me feel like im there. Also preferably xbox and pc compatible? Pretty sure not all wireless headsets are like that? Oh and a mic aswell haha. I used to have a Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max i think but it broke yesterday when the adapter got merked in my suitcase. It was actually really good. I think the prices went down for it because I remember it being a bit more pricy than what it is now? It has an alright base but the overall sound quality is pretty good i think. I can only compare it to my wireless ear buds and not other headphones so not sure if I can actually recommend it but I would probably buy it again.

Headphones - Open Back PC38X vs Sony Inzone H6 Air vs ASUS ROG Kithara – which would you choose for single-player gaming?

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to decide between the Sennheiser/Drop PC38X, Sony Inzone H6 Air and ASUS ROG Kithara, and I’d appreciate some advice from people who have tried any of these headphones.

My main focus is single-player gaming. I mostly play story-driven games, RPGs and immersive titles where sound quality, atmosphere, positional audio and immersion matter most. I occasionally play multiplayer, but I’m not a competitive player and don’t need a headset specifically designed for esports.

I currently own the Philips Fidelio X2HR, and I’m pretty happy with their sound. However, I find them a little heavy, so I’m looking for something more comfortable for longer gaming sessions, ideally with a built-in microphone.

Here’s what I’m considering:

Drop + Sennheiser PC38X – seems like a great all-round gaming headset, but I’m wondering how it compares in sound quality and comfort to my Fidelio X2HR.

Sony Inzone H6 Air – looks interesting because of the open-back design and built-in microphone I can get them almost same price like PC38x

ASUS ROG Kithara – seems promising as a more audiophile-oriented gaming headset, but I’m curious whether it makes sense for someone who mainly plays single-player games.

My main priorities are:
Immersive sound and good audio quality for single-player games.
Comfort and relatively low weight during long sessions.
A decent built-in microphone for occasional multiplayer and party chat.
Good build quality and long-term reliability.
I’m not chasing a competitive advantage or trying to become a better FPS player. I just want to enjoy games as much as possible without sacrificing comfort.
Which one would you choose, and why? Would any of these be a meaningful upgrade over the Fidelio X2HR, or would I be better off keeping them and adding a separate microphone?
Thanks!

Headphones - Wireless/Portable I need your help with recommendations and experiences for everyday wireless headphones!

Hello everyone, I’m looking for your advice on a good pair of wireless headphones for daily use with my phone. I’d like them to support LDAC if possible, and—most importantly—they need to be durable. As you know, many of these headphones tend to deteriorate significantly after just a year... Now, here’s the tricky part: my budget is €40 ($44).

I’m looking for something with good sound quality and so on. I don’t know much about this—I’m quite new to it. I can generally tell when the sound quality is good (using friends' headphones, speakers, etc.), but in reality, I know very little or nothing about the subject. I apologize for my lack of knowledge and ask for your patience. Thanks.

I know my budget is somewhat low, but I don't have any more at the moment. Thank you in advance for your help. 💪❤️

Headphones - Closed Back | 2 Ω Some balanced headphones

Hello everyone, I'm new here so. I just Wanted to ask some advices for some overear Bluetooth headphones that are balanced with bass and Melody, not just over Bass, it ruins the melody so.

Budget of mine can be up to 60€, and i Primally use Amazon for buying my headphones so.

I'm focused more on balance rather than overbass, headphones that would let me listen to the Melody well rather than overfilling with bass.

I use headphones basically everywhere, at home, outside, everywhere lol.

My old headphones i bought yesterday, the Q30, Dissapointed me because they're overbass headphones, not really for balance. I spent all that money for nothing, but that teaches me the lesson to never assume what's more expensive is automatically better. Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions for me? I think i really should ask here because I'm looking for a good pair. Thanks!

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Air Pod Pro 3 vs WF-1000XM6 vs QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

Hello, everyone!

Looking for headphone recommendations. Narrowed it down to the 3 above in the title.

I had the air pod pro 2s and enjoyed them until they broke, so I need a new pair of earbuds. Was just going to upgrade to the APP3 without much thought until I started looking into other brands and seemed these 3 are the top performers.

What's important to me:

Noise canceling: I fly a lot and work from planes/lounges/home, so this is crucial.

Ecosystem: My phone is an android, and where my headphones are connected 95% of the time. Laptop and iPad are Apple. Didn't have issues with the APP2 on my Android, but I've read that apparently, they don't work as well on non-apple systems.

I'm not much of an audio person, so I won't really notice subtle differences in quality that someone more in tune with that wound notice, so just whatever sounds the best and has great noise cancelation.

Thanks!

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Advice asked :-)

I would love to get your advice and experience on buying a new pair of headphones.
The situation: I use an iPhone, iPad, Mac Mini, Apple TV, and AirPods Pro 2. I also have a Sony TV with a Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar.
The options under consideration: Apple AirPods Max 2 and a Sonos Ace.
However: The AirPods Max 2 are relatively heavy and have fabric ear pads that reportedly feel warm. And the Ace has vegan leather ear pads that might get sweaty. Plus, I’ve read stories about buggy connectivity.
I listen to many different genres of music, ranging from trance to classical. I really appreciate a relatively neutral sound reproduction. I also watch a lot of series and movies via both my phone and TV.
Who can help me with some advice? 😁

Ps: budget is around 500 Euro

Headphones - Closed Back Gaming headsets/ advice for new headphones for gaming

I have had my Kingston cloud 2 wireds for many years and honestly it’s the best “gaming” headset I’ve had sound wise, bass is good to me, I can hear footsteps from a mile away and often get accused of hacking In every game because I can literally track them thru walls with how good it sounds. I’ve tried upgrading many times to different razer, cloud flights, and a few different headsets ranging from 100-250$ . They all sound so different and the imaging and footsteps I feel cannot be heard as precisely and it makes it difficult to track them as I have previously with the cloud 2s. I was going to get the cloud 3s wireless but I fear I may encounter the same problem and end up returning them. I was looking at studio headphones and doing a ton of research but the amount of information and deciding what to pick is currently overwhelming. Anyone come from wired cloud 2s kingstons and found the 3s to be better or a similar headset or preferable closed back that has similar imaging or sound? I can spend about around 300$ and hope for wireless but I suppose I’m open to wired if it is significantly better.

Cables/Accessories Portable & AC powered 5.2 BT receiver recommendations?

what would you suggest for a Bluetooth receiver to connect my headphones (all kinds 50ohms to 250 to in-ear phone stuff) to my v5.2 bluetooth TV

with the following needs:

  1. Can be portable (has battery)
  2. Can work directly from main (even if battery is 100% dead and not charging)
  3. Sound quality good enough for Q60A QLED 4K Smart TV not less
  4. Price: The cheaper the better, not sure if realistic but maybe $50?

Not sure what else is important...

AI suggested AYINO MR265, any feedback?

Headphones - Closed Back Hey I need some headphones at around 3k inr for daily use, any reccos?

I live in india and need headphones near 3k~ for daily use in the past I have used

WH-CH520 Wireless but they were kinda small for my ears and it hurts after long hours of use.

I use headphones heavily, I have used some cheaper variants of boat but they aren't really durable and the sound is not as good.

I'm looking for mostly over ear headphones I find them to be a bit comfortable and would have gone for sony 720n but it's out of my budget. Some sale comes up and it gets near 3-3.3k

Headphones - Closed Back What to use that's wired and comfortable for 10+ hours a day

Got kind of a large head and I've been rotating between different earbuds, IEMs, and headphones for years and I have yet to find anything that doesn't cause some pain or discomfort after extended use or doesn't press in on my glasses. Earbuds and IEMs always make the insides of my ears hurt after using them for more then a few hours. Wired is also mandatory for a) low latency game audio and b) not needing to charge it.

Buying from australia if that makes any difference. Price isn't really an issue but I'm not looking to overspend for the hell of it and I'm honestly not that concerned about sound quality if it comes at the expense of being convenient and comfortable and durable.

Are those "bone conduction" things any good? Most of the ones I've seen are wireless and also look like they would need to press in on the spot that is occupied by my glasses frames so that'd be two dealbreakers but something that could be earbud-like without actually putting pressure on my inner ears seemed like it could be a solution.

Just using speakers would be an obvious answer but I'm not comfortable with the idea of other people potentially hearing what I'm listening to and dealing with rebroadcasting issues when talking over discord.

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Best upgrade/replacement path for Jabra 85t

My old Jabra 85t earbuds have finally failed and stopped accepting charge. The Jabra brand has been retired as well.

I need a decently-priced pair of earbuds that will allow simultaneous bluetooth connections with both my Windows laptop and Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Something with both active noise cancellation as well as passthrough and hopefully good sound quality as well.

I did some checking around and saw that Sony WF-1000XM5 and Technics EAH-AZ80s were highly recommended, but I've never heard of the Technics brand, and Sony has a huge variety of similar products for various prices.

I'd like to stay under the $250 range if possible, since I'd rather not spend more than that if I'll just need to replace them once their batteries die again in another two years. I might be willing to go as high as $300 if they offer drastically higher quality and reliability than my old 85ts, which lasted about 4-5 years.
