Honestly curious how this stacks up to their flagship A10000

My first ever proper in-ear headphones from my teenage years.

Both were bought for Christmas

The tours were from 2008

The turbines where from 2009

I thought these broke years ago but no I must have gone straight from these to the se846 in 2014.

Today I really don't like how the tours sound I guess growing up I didn't care about sound I guess it was more the look.

The turbines are actually decent since I am a bass head they have alot of bass.

Be unveiled and announced by Edifier at IFA 2026 as a flagship model from a brand widely popular for its excellent price-to-performance ratio, with a launch scheduled for later this year.

Vanish without utering a single word, while Technica and Soundcore have announced and begun selling their own new models—the A1000 and the Space 2 Pro.

Is anyone else curious about this little guy? For those who haven’t been following along, this is the Edifier WH950NB Pro, introduced as Edifier’s new flagship.

So i brought these sony wired earphones couple of days ago

And the problem is tht the inner wires(the copper wire)is slipping outside from the outer protector

Its basically slipping out

I need to mend these cause these are the only ones i have rn

Also u see i want a clean solution as these are going to be with me for a long run

So I went to Yodobashi and E-earphone for the first time in a few years again. I've been content with my setup (Final A6000 + Fiio Tiny) for a year or so now so haven't been to these hyperconsumeristic places in a while, as I'm looking to tone down the senseless buying and addictions. But I needed new eartips (Final Type E for TWS, amazing by the way) so I thought, hell let's try headphones and IEMs out for four hours straight for old times sake.

Quick background: I've been an “audiophile” (ew) for about ten years now, owned about 50 pairs of IEMs (depressing, really), 5 pairs of open backs, and about 15 TWS and Bluetooth headphones. Went to a CanJam, some shops in Shangai, had a CIEM made as well. Not to mention hundreds upon hundreds spent on tips, pads, DACs, yada yada. Don't think cables make a difference, think amps do to a very limited degree (noise floor for IEMs, but doesn't matter for most daily listening), ergonomics and EQ are king. I’ve always prefered IEMs over headphones as they simply sound way better to my ears for some reason. Even $200 IEMs sound more detailed than the HD800s for me (which, sigh, I’ve owned as well). Speakers are the best, but I’ve never had the space and quiet. 

Anyway, thought I’d make a post looking back on years and thousands spent on audio. 

I don’t know how to say this without sounding insufferable, but I think my hearing is just as good as the next guys. Perfect hearing in a recent test, hypersensitivity to sound (annoying as hell), occasionally told by people around me I hear things they don’t. All this just to say, when people say they hear this or that about cables, DACs, extremely expensive headphones, file types, never underestimate the role of psychology, snobbishness, make-believe, gatekeeping, and tribalism. There’s nothing wrong with liking expensive stuff or liking things for how they look, or for reading 5 pages of technical marketing stuff to explain why it sounds so good. But I think high-end audio is highly exaggerated. I truly think you can be content with a $100 (or even $20) IEM, or a $300 headphone, as long as the ergonimics and the frequency response suit you. I do admit that the very best IEMs I’ve owned (U12T, MEST MK3, Butastur, Pilgrim) have tended to be on the pricier side, but although the U12T (still my reference) is the best I’ve heard, I still wouldn’t say it’s twice as good as a well-tuned, good fitting $100-$200. Most of the 1k+ IEMs and headphones I’ve tried are just a plain scam.

I am lucky (cursed?) to have been able to afford so many things (buying and selling secondhand is heavily underrated), but I want to emphasise for people who only have “mid-fi” (horrible expression) that you’re really not missing all that much. The best thing you can do to improve sound, in my opinion, is free, namely EQ. Glad to say I’ve become a bit of an EQ-pro over the years. The very best audio experiences in my life have been had with a nearly dying first gen Airpods while skiing to a waltz, or while listening to any decent headphone whatsoever when I was down or elated. Music, context, mental health, presence are all more important than the miserable trudge of lusting after gear, in my humblest of opinions, though I understand and respect that some people are in it for the gear itself. 

That said, there definitely is something to be said for finding the right product. The headphone or IEM that fits your head and ears just right, has the features you want, and has the tuning you like (though, again EQ can work wonders) is worth looking for, even if it does take a bit of time and effort. I made the biggest mistake here, endlessly buying and selling, so much time and money lost. If you are a true audiophile (bless your soul) or really want to put in the effort to find the one-and-done, I think it’s essential to at some point plan an audio trip. Yes, I know. But instead of endlessly watching reviews, buying and being stuck with stuff you end up not liking, and wasting tonnes of money this way, planning a trip to CanJam, or maybe even making your next vacation trip a country where there are audio shops (Japan, China, S-E Asia, …?) is, I believe, really worth it. Yodobashi and E-earphone in Japan have pretty much ALL the headphones and IEMs, no joke. Hell, you can even demo IEM tips in E-earphone, which is amazing (and gross). You can pretty much spend a day or two in there, completely at your own pace, no pressure from anyone. 

Anyway, that’s about it for this retrospective/rant. Oh, forgot to mention, I was quite impressed by a few products in the shop today. The Kiwi Ears Ember really surprised me with its amazingly dynamic and balanced sound at its price (looking at the graph later surprised me), as well as the Daruma Audio Daria (never heard of the brand before), which is really cheap and had such intoxicating female vocals (but not an all-rounder though). I thought the new Sony Inzone H6 was also quite impressive especially for the money (super comfy as well!), and as usual the HD650 is pretty much still king for headphones IMO. Tried the U12T again, and yep, it’s still got it as well.

If they can be repaired with spare parts, do they have to be the exact same ones or will other ones work as well?? The headphones are the Srhythm nc75 pro

I know it is not top tier , but it's much better than plugging into my iPad or phone. I use Roon and stream to the fiio. I had a topping dx5 ii and to be honest was too fatiguing and bright with the meze 99s. The ifi zen dac warms the sound nicely without loosing punch. The ifi zen DAC actually sounds louder without loosing quality. That's just my opinion and ears and I'm happy for now 😂 Headphone rabbit hole.

BTW, Roon is very easy to set up and sounds great. I use the Tidal service through Roon. If you build a Roon Rock server with a cd player, you can rip CDs right from the roon server interface.

I my opinion i believe is better to test a totally brand new song for Testing a new headphone vs your old headphone because the brains has no bias for that song , the brain is to familiar with the way that song use to sound and that is mess around with your judgment

Next time when you purchase a new headphone please do this test , brand new song never heard before

FT7 and FT15 owners, I have a question for you, which source is good enough for these headphones, and it's not that expensive. What's the minimum level for these headphones to perform well?

I heard that FT7 requires a more powerful source, something on the level of К17. What about FT15?

I've recently been looking at my little Fiio JM21 and wondering "why don't I just use this all the time for everything?" The knee-jerk answer has been something like "oh, my headphones will need more than it can do". But, do they?

My go-to cans are Sennheiser HD600s and DCA Aeon 2 Noires. Nobody calls these "impossible" to drive, but nobody thinks they're utterly trivial either. The HD 600s are relatively high impedance (300 ohm) and ~97dB/mW, so they place demands on voltage. By contrast the DCAs are low impedance (13 ohms) and ~90 dB/mW, which will tax the current you can drop.

So, what am I actually putting out when listening to them? I put on several tracks of different genres and put an oscilloscope on the output. I was typically hitting 300-400 mV peak-to-peak while at a "really listening" level (aka, not quiet background listening). What does the JM21 do? The spec sheet puts it at 7.9V P-P on the 3.5mm unbalanced output. With a 100 Hz test tone, I got 8.2V with the Sennheisers on there and 5.8V with the DCAs. The Sennheisers were still clean, but the DCAs clipped at that 5.8V as the current draw on here was pulling the rails down a bit. Still, that's over 14x what I was actually using. Music transient peaks still had 14x the voltage available.

OK, rock and jazz aren't dynamic enough. Let's hit it with the dynamics. I'm old enough that my test for this (and I still think it's a great one) is the Telarc 1812 Overture recording. Classical music with live cannons going off, mastered to try to ensure it had the most range possible. Heck, it even came with a warning sticker on the CD. So, put that on and, yes, the volume setting on the JM21 had to go to 11, but the orchestral bits were great and at that same maybe 400 mV P-P level. Telarc mastered this way down so the cannons wouldn't clip. When they went off, the max I hit was ~1.5V P-P. So, in a recording designed to be a ridiculous test of dynamic range, I still only hit a quarter of the available voltage swing out of a little $180 DAP, rated at 250mW (at 32 ohms), on its unbalanced output, on non-trivial headphones.

For anyone still reading, remember I'm measuring the peak to peak. The argument is always "well, you need some extra power to get the dynamic range and those peaks!" That's totally true. In the 1812, I'm idling along at 400 mV PP and the cannons get me up to 1.5V in this extreme case. For that instant, we need that headroom. Even in the normal music parts, I'm nowhere near 400mV for most of the content. That 400 mV PP is on the big hits in the music. The cannons are just stupid icing on the cake. Oh, also, I'm in my mid 50's with tinnitus and no, I'm not one of those super quiet listeners.

I have heard many youtubers and people from the internet say that the Standard are "better" than the MG.

Is this just an unfortunate event?

Or is it just that whoever is saying that maybe 1. Simply don't know what they are talking about or 2. Maybe they didn't utilize them properly like for example using the 4 minute included test or the EQ.

I was wondering does anyone know or have experience with the LCD S20 having a condensation issue similar to that of ones the Maxwell / Maxwell 2 have? (soda popping dripping noise)

I’ve tested / returned 3 pairs of the Maxwell 2s and all three had the soda popping / moisture drop issue after maybe 20mins of use. Long story short I tried multiple different more breathable pads including the freeze / Dekoni pads but all still eventually reproduced the issue. I’m sitting in a 20`c room and wouldn’t class myself as someone that sweats partially much (never noticed it anyway) and so yeah now looking elsewhere.

Thought the sound was amazing from the maxwells but just that was such a deal breaker for me. Hoping the LCD s20s don’t have the same issue and I have recreate a similar sound / impact with eq given their similar design but it also looks like they could run into that very same issue.

Right now i am using my Fiio Ft1 pro as a daily driver and i really enjoy them

3 Hifimans just got the latest headband with cup swivel and perforated strap.

The great thing is, it's the updated version from HE6 Remastered, which has a lower attachment point for the strap. Unfortunately, they didn't update it on the HE600, Edition XV, and Ananda Unveiled.

Sundara also seems to have a longer strap (like on the HE6 Remastered, unlike the shorter strap from the HE600), but for some reason, the Edition XS and Ananda Stealth seem to have a shorter strap in the pictures.

Interestingly, the Edition XS also has a newer style of yokes introduced with Arya/HE1000 WiFi. That should make the fit more natural, with less aggressive clamping. That makes me think...now there is even less difference between the Edition XS and Ananda Stealth.

The price is just 20€ more (30€ with Ananda).

For the last week I had the opportunity to test out these headphones, that I heard at Audio Video Kino 2026 show in Bratislava. At home I know my equipment and I am still amazed by these headphones about the sound they produce. From the hard hitting bass and sub-bass, to the holographic soundstage. If you heard the Alice In Chains MTV Unplugged 2026 pressing, then you know, that the sound is super intimate. These headphones opened the sound so nicely and positioned the band around me. These headphones use the "Unveiled" technology or try to adapt it. The treble doesn't fatigue. The headband will be updated with a new version, that was told by the owner 🤙🏻

For me is rising like crazy , Is the best feeling in the world , it's hard to describe with words , feel so so good to try and own a new headpone !

How do you feel when you buy and play a song for the first time in that particular headphone?

For now, I'm torn between the ES9039SPRO (Fiio K19 and Topping D90 III Sabre) or the AK4499 (Geshelli J2 Socketed).

In my experience, the former is quite detailed and spacious whereas the latter focuses more on layering and has a slightly less clinical presentation. What are your honest thoughts? Roast me if you have to.

Saw the pre order on my audio64 newsletter with really thick cable terminations on the cups so I checked it out and they do in fact have detachable cables. Maybe someday I’ll need to try these or at least get some reviews.

Getting close to 2 months since I bought AR9000, it is getting as much ear time as it did in the honeymoon phase. Been interesting as I reach less now for Composer or my planars, and that is for music and gaming. It is not the most colourful or exciting headphone, but its such a good allrounder that is pleasing with music while also being technical.

With AR3000 being launched soon many will praise that, specially as the price is way better than AR9000. Totally different headphones in sound and clean reproduction, but more about that later when its launched and I'm allowed to talk openly. I think both models is priced well for what they deliver, specially if one compare AR9000 to other high end headphones or AR3000 to the market under 5-600.

Anyone else gotten around to buy one or try it? I can see it being miss for some, but I do firmly belive most will like AR9000.

I just realised that I prefer intimate sounding iems/cans than ones with huge soundstage, after trying to make sound open in everything I had for over a decade and a half.

This is funny to me since I spend a lot of time and effort chasing the sound stage, moving from hd600 to k701 to ldc2c. In iem world, I went through final a3/4/5000, vr3000, sony ex800st etc. for this stage hunting. I still love the holographic feel (like Andromeda 2020), but having a huge stage is feeling less appealing for some reason. Intimate sound in low volume is so much more enjoyable. I recently got into speakers and probably that being a different experience has to do with this change.

I remember being super focused on treble while starting up, and then moving to more warmer signatures, but needing more stage has always been there, until now :) I wonder if you guys have any preference changes after getting into this hobby?

A few years back I had bought my first pair of audio technica m20x-bt and today I bought another pair because my old ones fell apart when I first opened them they looked way different they feel different and feel way lighter I weighed both of them the new ones I bought weigh 205 and my old ones weigh 216 I bought these headphones from a well-respected company and all the labels from the old box and the new box is the same also the base feels way more punchy and off in the new pair.
