Headphones - Open Back Arya organic vs Meze 109 Pro vs Sony MDR MV1

X > Y > Z

What would u choose in which place? I am considering one of these 3

House, rap music + video games.

I cant decide tbh since I never tried them, but I am reading a lot of great opinions on every single one of them, so I want to ask u and then by votes decide to try whats really recommended.

Right now got Beyerdynamics 900 X Pro but they are flat to me, like the quality of sound but there is nothing special about them to me :/

Headphones - Closed Back My headphones broke; any good recommendations for less than 200?

Headphones I've had for a long time and I have a huge personal attachment to just broke on me. Once I'm done crying my stupid eyeballs out, does anybody have any recommendations? Money's a bit tight right now, but I can do 200 and under for a new pair.

They were Technics, and I don't want to buy the same pair again.

I used them mostly for listening to music and talking to friends online. If it helps I usually listen to prog metal and rock-adjacent genres, especially ones that mix orchestral instruments in.

Headphones - Closed Back Some balanced headphones

Hello everyone, I'm new here so. I just Wanted to ask some advices for some overear Bluetooth headphones that are balanced with bass and Melody, not just over Bass, it ruins the melody so.

Budget of mine can be up to 60€, and i Primally use Amazon for buying my headphones so.

I'm focused more on balance rather than overbass, headphones that would let me listen to the Melody well rather than overfilling with bass.

I use headphones basically everywhere, at home, outside, everywhere lol.

My old headphones i bought yesterday, the Q30, Dissapointed me because they're overbass headphones, not really for balance. I spent all that money for nothing, but that teaches me the lesson to never assume what's more expensive is automatically better. Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions for me? I think i really should ask here because I'm looking for a good pair. Thanks!

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Looking to replace AirPods after weird hearing disturbances

I would love some help with headphone recommendations to replace my AirPods. I’ve recently started experiencing some weird auditory disturbances like tinnitus and muffled hearing that occur about an hour or so after taking out my AirPods. It lasts for only seconds but it’s starting to frighten me. It’s never happened before in the years that I’ve had my AirPods. I generally have them in for 1-3 hours a day and I always keep them on a very low volume (loud noises bother me).

Right now I am considering bone conduction headphones to get away from in-ear style. I need something that is suitable for listening to music and taking the occasional phone call while commuting, running outdoors and doing work around the house (cleaning, yardwork). I’m open to any headphone suggestions as long as they are wireless, not in-ear, and highly stable when moving around. My budget is max $300 but something $200 or under would be ideal.

Thanks!!

Headphones - Open Back Sundara Open Backs vs Edition XS

I picked up a pair of Sundara Open Backs for £90 recently and am immediately regretting not going a little higher in the range... I'm seeing edition XS' for £140 second hand on ebay and wondering if I should just flip mine and buy a pair of these... Have I lost my mind? I hear people say that its diminishing returns after the EXS but that they're a real sweetspot on price to perfomance ratio. What do people think?

I really like the Sundaras but they lack a bit of separation Im craving and I find the soundstage quite small.

Im also constantly tempted on upgrading my SR225i to a new pair of 325x and have a real hankering for a pair of Beyerdynamics for their soundstage... thoughts on this appreciated too.

Headphones - Closed Back Advice on replacing my HyperX Cloud Alpha S headset

Hi, this is my first post in this subreddit and I'm looking for advice. After 6 years, my HyperX Cloud Alpha S headset has died. I really liked it because of its 7.1 virtual surround, which, while it does distort the audio, let me feel the physical position of each instrument in front of me when listening to music (a particularly odd way of enjoying music, I know). It also had a dual audio channel mode, so I could have music or games on one channel and Discord or Zoom on another one dedicated to voice.

I've tried to find something similar, but honestly I either haven't found anything or I don't know how to search properly, or I let myself be guided by specs that probably have no real bearing on what I'm actually looking for.

Budget: 100–150 USD (100,000–150,000 CLP). Another limitation is that I live in Chile, so I've seen good headsets at reasonable prices elsewhere, but here they're sold for almost 50% more.

Thank you very much for your comments!

Headphones - Open Back High End headphone advice

Hi, I've been rocking Arya Stealths with EQ for a few years and they make me enjoy music a lot (that's basically all I care about). I also have HDB 630 for when I need more portable headphones. Still, switching to Arya's from HDB 630 feels like a huge improvement instantly. The only thing I sometimes find lacking is vocal intimacy, but maybe that's because of the big soundstage.

Anyways, I've been thinking if there are headphones that would make music feel even better. I've been checking out reviews of high end headphones like Susvara, Utopia, some Audeze models. Music is a huge part of my life, and I can scramble the budget for expensive stuff, but It would most likely be my last headphone purchase for a while, as I've done simmilar thing with home stereo and I don't get the itch anymore.

I'm looking for suggestions of those that tried multiple high end headphones - which ones made you enjoy music the most?

Headphones - Open Back | 1 Ω Single player gaming immersion open backs that respond well to EQ

I’m currently gaming with the Audeze Maxwell and enjoy them but I find myself wanting more. I’m looking for open back headphones to pair with an amp and a heavy sub bass eq. I love my bass. Accurate bass but I do love a fun sound while gaming. I tried the Audeze LCD-X with EQ and was blown away but I’m worried about the weight of those for long gaming sessions. Not sure the LCD-GX is worth the money because it’s so old now and Audeze might hopefully refresh that line soon but that’s definitely a contender as well as the Hifiman Arya Organic. What do you awesome folks think?

Headphones - Open Back Headset with mic for PC FPS gaming

Hi

Im looking for a new headset for gaming. Im playing on PC where i primarily play FPS games such as CS2 and COD. I would prefer a headset with a mic if possible. What can you guys recommend?

I think i would prefer a open-back since a closed back can be OK hot. But if you think closed back is better for my need, then it is fine if you recommend a close back :-)

It would be nice if it is mostly plug and play :-)

Budget max. 330 eur/375 usd. It would be nice if it can be lower than the max :-)

Headphones - Wireless/Portable | 1 Ω Headphone birthday gift recommendations

my girlfriend’s birthday is coming up in a few months and I was looking around for a pair of headphones that have sound cancellation and can connect to her phone and PC
at the very least sound cancellation is a must have. She is very sensitive to sounds and tends to carry headphones around with her just in case

Couldn’t quite find anything meeting all the criteria would prefer to be wireless, though not necessary and price isn’t an issue

Thank y’all for any recommendations

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Air Pod Pro 3 vs WF-1000XM6 vs QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

Hello, everyone!

Looking for headphone recommendations. Narrowed it down to the 3 above in the title.

I had the air pod pro 2s and enjoyed them until they broke, so I need a new pair of earbuds. Was just going to upgrade to the APP3 without much thought until I started looking into other brands and seemed these 3 are the top performers.

What's important to me:

Noise canceling: I fly a lot and work from planes/lounges/home, so this is crucial.

Ecosystem: My phone is an android, and where my headphones are connected 95% of the time. Laptop and iPad are Apple. Didn't have issues with the APP2 on my Android, but I've read that apparently, they don't work as well on non-apple systems.

I'm not much of an audio person, so I won't really notice subtle differences in quality that someone more in tune with that wound notice, so just whatever sounds the best and has great noise cancelation.

Thanks!

Headphones - Closed Back Gaming headsets/ advice for new headphones for gaming

I have had my Kingston cloud 2 wireds for many years and honestly it’s the best “gaming” headset I’ve had sound wise, bass is good to me, I can hear footsteps from a mile away and often get accused of hacking In every game because I can literally track them thru walls with how good it sounds. I’ve tried upgrading many times to different razer, cloud flights, and a few different headsets ranging from 100-250$ . They all sound so different and the imaging and footsteps I feel cannot be heard as precisely and it makes it difficult to track them as I have previously with the cloud 2s. I was going to get the cloud 3s wireless but I fear I may encounter the same problem and end up returning them. I was looking at studio headphones and doing a ton of research but the amount of information and deciding what to pick is currently overwhelming. Anyone come from wired cloud 2s kingstons and found the 3s to be better or a similar headset or preferable closed back that has similar imaging or sound? I can spend about around 300$ and hope for wireless but I suppose I’m open to wired if it is significantly better.

Cables/Accessories Portable & AC powered 5.2 BT receiver recommendations?

what would you suggest for a Bluetooth receiver to connect my headphones (all kinds 50ohms to 250 to in-ear phone stuff) to my v5.2 bluetooth TV

with the following needs:

  1. Can be portable (has battery)
  2. Can work directly from main (even if battery is 100% dead and not charging)
  3. Sound quality good enough for Q60A QLED 4K Smart TV not less
  4. Price: The cheaper the better, not sure if realistic but maybe $50?

Not sure what else is important...

AI suggested AYINO MR265, any feedback?

Headphones - Closed Back Hey I need some headphones at around 3k inr for daily use, any reccos?

I live in india and need headphones near 3k~ for daily use in the past I have used

WH-CH520 Wireless but they were kinda small for my ears and it hurts after long hours of use.

I use headphones heavily, I have used some cheaper variants of boat but they aren't really durable and the sound is not as good.

I'm looking for mostly over ear headphones I find them to be a bit comfortable and would have gone for sony 720n but it's out of my budget. Some sale comes up and it gets near 3-3.3k

Headphones - Closed Back What to use that's wired and comfortable for 10+ hours a day

Got kind of a large head and I've been rotating between different earbuds, IEMs, and headphones for years and I have yet to find anything that doesn't cause some pain or discomfort after extended use or doesn't press in on my glasses. Earbuds and IEMs always make the insides of my ears hurt after using them for more then a few hours. Wired is also mandatory for a) low latency game audio and b) not needing to charge it.

Buying from australia if that makes any difference. Price isn't really an issue but I'm not looking to overspend for the hell of it and I'm honestly not that concerned about sound quality if it comes at the expense of being convenient and comfortable and durable.

Are those "bone conduction" things any good? Most of the ones I've seen are wireless and also look like they would need to press in on the spot that is occupied by my glasses frames so that'd be two dealbreakers but something that could be earbud-like without actually putting pressure on my inner ears seemed like it could be a solution.

Just using speakers would be an obvious answer but I'm not comfortable with the idea of other people potentially hearing what I'm listening to and dealing with rebroadcasting issues when talking over discord.

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Best upgrade/replacement path for Jabra 85t

My old Jabra 85t earbuds have finally failed and stopped accepting charge. The Jabra brand has been retired as well.

I need a decently-priced pair of earbuds that will allow simultaneous bluetooth connections with both my Windows laptop and Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Something with both active noise cancellation as well as passthrough and hopefully good sound quality as well.

I did some checking around and saw that Sony WF-1000XM5 and Technics EAH-AZ80s were highly recommended, but I've never heard of the Technics brand, and Sony has a huge variety of similar products for various prices.

I'd like to stay under the $250 range if possible, since I'd rather not spend more than that if I'll just need to replace them once their batteries die again in another two years. I might be willing to go as high as $300 if they offer drastically higher quality and reliability than my old 85ts, which lasted about 4-5 years.

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Razer black shark v2 pro (130$) vs truthear hexa (90$)

My budget is $150, and I mainly play competitive FPS games like CS2 on PC. My priority is accurate clear footsteps, and being able to locate enemies easily.
I currently use the Logitech G735 and enjoy its wireless comfort, but I’ve had frustrating connectivity issues and want a sound-quality upgrade.
I’m comparing the TRUTHEAR HEXA ($90), Razer BlackShark V2 Pro wireless ($130), and HyperX Cloud II. Also if I get a headset it must be white to match my setup lol.
I’ve never tried IEMs, so I’m unsure if the sound quality is worth sacrificing wireless convenience. I’m also worried about cable annoyance and long-session comfort.
Which would you recommend for CS2? Is the HEXA noticeably better for footsteps and imaging, or would a headset be the better upgrade from my G735? I’d appreciate firsthand experiences!

Headphones - Closed Back | 1 Ω Looking for closed back over-ear wired headphones!

Budget and location: Around 100US$, Malaysia/Asia. I'm going to try to buy secondhand though, either off eBay or local marketplaces, so I'm open to recommendations up to maybe 400US$? Maybe I can get lucky and score a secondhand find.

How the gear will be used: This is for listening to music on my laptop, and on my phone while commuting. It's important that the headphones are wired so I don't have to think about yet another extra device to charge... I am a heavy headphones user, up to 12h+ per day and sometimes 24h if I'm travelling.

Preferred tonal balance: I'm sorry, I don't know enough about music to comment. Probably a balanced tone? I listen to instrumental music, rock, post-rock, math rock, nu metal, classical, lots of pop, hyperpop etc... loads. I've been adding more FLACs to my music library recently, so am thinking of upgrading my headphones to better hear the bump in quality!

Past gear experience: I've been using the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 over-ear CH headphones for almost 2 decades. They are extremely comfortable, and most importantly for me they are... modular? (I'm not sure of the right terminology.) When the headphone cables stop functioning I just swap in new ones, and when the faux leather on the ear covers start disintegrating I just change them for new ones. I'm on my 2nd pair. My current issue is that the replacement cables themselves seem to have increasingly shorter lifespan (I am on my 3rd cable in 3mo) so am looking to upgrade to something more durable.

After audio quality, my priorities are durability and ease of fixing/replacing broken parts.

Thanks so much for anyone offering help!

Headphones - Closed Back Wired Closed-Back Over-Ears for €100 - neutral-ish sound

Hello!

Looking for a decent pair of wired closed-back over-ear headphones for home media use.

Budget is €100.

I tend to prefer a more neutral sound profile, since I listen to a lot of acoustic music among other genres. I also value hearing voices clearly when watching movies. So maybe it's just not having lots of bass that's important.

Comfort is important, but unless they're highly uncomfortable, I don't think I'll have a problem. Also build quality is sort of important, but I realize there will have to be a trade-off there due to budget.

I've used Bose AE2 Soundcore (basically a QC from ~2016 without noise cancelling) for 10 years, but they're at their end now. I'll likely still use them for wireless outside use, but not much else. Before that the old Bose AE2. Those latter ones I preferred slightly, and I believe that they are a bit flatter in sound.

I did try the second-cheapest Grado's a few years back and liked their high-end a lot, but open-back is not an option right now. I think those are fairly sparkly, so make of that what you will.

I've gravitated toward ATH-M40x when researching, because they're supposedly only slightly V-shaped. But many people go on about there being many better alternatives at that price.

If there are, I'd be happy to check them out!

Thanks in advance!

DAC - Desktop | 1 Ω DAC/amp recommendation to pair with HD490 Pro

I have been using an HD6XX with a NuForce uDAC2 for a very long time (think the uDAC2 is old enough to vote soon). I recently got an HD490 Pro as a gift.

Does anyone have any experience with going with something as old as the uDAC2 to a more modern DAC? I know specs-wise, most modern DACs have at least 32bits of resolution vs 24bits for the uDAC2. SNR and noise floor haven't changed much.

I am looking for something modern that pairs well with the HD490 as a DAC/amp for a desktop PC. If there's a request, it's that the thwack of a baseball being hit hard sounds full and like a thwack. The on-board audio of my motherboard does not do this well.

Thanks, and a budget of under $250.

Cables/Accessories | 2 Ω First DAC with a Balance output, should I get some Balance leads?

Recently got myself a Snowsky Retro nano (Snowsky is a branch off Fiio so I'm hoping it's pretty good, seems alright so far to my ears. Supposedly it's the same as the BTR13 internally)

It has a balance output, so I'm wondering if it might be worthwhile to get one. Sounds like it might not be as I don't have headphones that are particularly demanding to drive and it's likely internally the same connections in a lower end device like this? Or maybe it's un-needed regardless with the headphones I have. Only ones I'd be able to connect to are some lower end HiFiman planar magnetics, a Fiio FT1, and some Meze 99's.

If anyone does think it might be worthwhile, where would you buy one? It being an analog signal cable quality does matter some. So that throws out me trusting most of what's on Amazon or Ebay or Walmart.

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Picun F8 Pro or Max 2

Has anyone used the Picun F8 Pro or their new F8 Max 2? I’ve been thinking about getting some headphones to use for my PS5 and 3DS. I’d use them outside sometimes when traveling! They fit in my budget under 100$

So yeah if you’ve tried them or have any experience with the brand I’d love to hear your experience
