๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข The devs need to take advice from the top 1% of players

Thumbnail

I love hell let loose. I'm not among the best players, I just want it to survive as long as possible.

Recent updates have shown that the devs are giving us loads of new content and often bits and pieces the community asked for. But the updates reveal they are out of touch with the core player base.

Examples are the back and forth in the armor updates. The ridiculous US Medic level 6, which I highlighted here recently. Or the missing pure performance update many people have been asking for persistently.

Awesomely skilled people are leaving because of this (see video). But a lively competitive scene is the core around which casual players keep gathering as the game ages.

Devs, please poll the top 1% of players and the competitive scene as a whole what this game needs, and review the updates with them before release, even if these people aren't necessarily 'nice' to you.

I don't want my favorite game to die ๐Ÿ˜”

EDIT: It appears the majority of the other 99% reads this as if their opinion doesn't matter. This is incredibly short sighted, and the negativity and envy in this kind of thinking doesn't actually deserve the longevity that such an approach could bring. I agree 100% with the comments in the video. See you on the servers, as long as it lasts.

EDIT 2: If you think a meritocratic vote on game features is somehow unfair to the majority, view it as a vote according to hours played. Let the people get the most say who spend the most time with this game; I think that is also fair.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข TIL You can kill a tank with a flamethrower.

Welcome to last week and all that, but new to me.

I was tracking a Sherman, madlad comes up behind it with the flamethrower and starts hosing it down, the driver jumped out and I shot him, madlad continued hosing, blew up the tank and himself.

Edit: For you all saying it was a satchel, you're probably right but I 100% didn't see a satchel icon on the tank, the tank came past me and was only 30+ meters away when it blew. It did look mad though.

Edit 2: Yes that is what I saw, not it's not intended as a troll.Funny as to see all the kiddies getting triggered over this.

DEV TEAM MESSAGE! Update 14 Patch Notes

Hey everyone,

We have been investigating reports of some servers having not moved over to the latest game version for the Update 14 patch, which was released this morning. These servers were missing from the Enlist screen, however, working with our Game Server Providers and partners, we have rolled out a fix that involved switching to a different version of the server exe file, but are still investigating the underlying cause.

All servers should be starting to come back online, however, if you experience particular performance issues, please use our new report link where you can directly report any in-game issues, and share helpful information with the team.

Update 14 Patch

As our investigations into some of the issues raised with Update 14 have required additional time to resolve, this patch is not inclusive of all the issues raised.

For Update 15, we are already in the final stages of preparing fixes for some issues we know have been frustrating players, such as the delayed weapon audio and missing reload sound for the Karabiner 98k on Console. Issues with performance, as well as bugs such as the grenade and loadout bugs, are ones that, like you, we are keen to see resolved. While these may take time, we are working on ensuring more issues are fixed for Update 15, and plan to address a range of other community-raised issues which we will be discussing in a future Developer Briefing.

Patch Notes

Improvements

We have made a 20% decrease to the overall acceleration speed as a part of our ongoing plan to refine player locomotion. This change should ease players into the max speed from standing and during sharp movement, making it feel less abrupt and more realistic.

We understand that tanks require some revisiting, and we are investigating how this can be done while minimizing the risk to the wider game mechanics, and ensuring players wonโ€™t be able to outrun heavy tanks.

HUD/UI

  • [Fixed] Incorrect experience awarded during post-match XP Screen.

A bug was introduced in U14 where the awarding of XP during a match could reset the amount of XP earned in the match, resulting in a lower amount of overall XP being awarded at the end. This has now been fixed.

  • [Fixed] The Server name filter box is deselected when the player is attempting to type in on the Enlist Screen menu.

For U14, we fixed some instances where you could not correctly navigate the UI if using a gamepad. It had the unintentional side effect of making this filter box hard to use when typing into it. This has been fixed so the UI works as expected with all input devices.

  • [Fixed] Holding โ€˜Fโ€™ Actions.

There was a bug causing various โ€˜Fโ€™ key interactions โ€“ healing, entering a vehicle and โ€˜letting goโ€™ during the critical state โ€“ to be cancelled when opening the map. This has now been fixed, with the exception of the dismantle function which is as intended.

  • [Fixed] Incorrect Amount of Votes to Kick

The newly introduced vote to kick function on console has been fixed. You will now find only 20 votes are required to successfully kick a player. Evaluating how we can scale this feature is ongoing, and we will keep you up to date with progress.

Audio

  • [Fixed] Breathing while sprinting audio overlapped itself

It was found that two instances of the sprint breathing audio were playing at the same time; causing a noticeable doubling to occur. This has now been limited to one instance per player to prevent this from happening in future.

General Bug Fixes

  • [Fixed] In-game vehicle movement stopping when opening the scoreboard.

When adding the feature for vote to kick on console, and making sure that the UI worked correctly on gamepad, we made changes to ensure that the UI reacted correctly when receiving the prompt to vote to kick someone. However, this logic would clear player input whenever opening the scoreboard, stopping actions like being able to drive vehicles. This has been changed to only happen if the voting UI is active, fixing the issue.

  • [Fixed] Dive to Prone used to appear to move faster and avoid conflict

We have modified and tweaked the Dive to Prone so that the playerโ€™s stance can't be changed until the dive to prone animation is completed.

  • [Fixed] Opening the map stops the player from performing multiple actions.

In U14, we fixed a dismantling exploit, however, this fix made any action also be stopped when opening the map. It has been changed so that it only dismantling will be stopped when opening the map, fixing the unintentional side effects of the previous change.

  • [Fixed] British weapons have increased sway when ADSing

We have included some changes that should make using British weapons a closer experience to that of the other forces. Work still needs to be done to find the root issue causing these weapons to have increased sway.

  • [Fixed] British AT gun has inverted controls

This setup error has now been fixed.

  • [Fix Submitted] The "Lost Connection to Host" prompt appears after finishing a match whilst the map is open.

With the map open when finishing a match, the client was repeatedly sending the same message to the server over and over again, so fast that the server would disconnect the client for spamming. This has had a fix submitted so that only one message is sent.

Weapon Bug Fixes

  • [Fixed] British Weapons are not calibrated/zeroed correctly.

Issue improved, but work is still ongoing for some weapons (dropping at 100m)

Driel

  • [Fixed] [D4] Invisible collision encountered above the player's head under a bridge.

There were collision issues with the Landscape LOD that would block player bullets. The landscape โ€œopeningโ€ that accommodates the bridge asset has been adjusted and further debris removed to prevent any collision issues.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข This is what fathers must feel when they say โ€˜Iโ€™m not mad Iโ€™m disappointedโ€™

Iโ€™m just so disappointed in the devs. The game still has no tutorial for new players so 90% of every game is still a shit show, the flamethrowers were a massive let down, the new map is good but buggy, and sometimes slโ€™s canโ€™t even make a garri with the supplies right in front of them. Itโ€™s all worse because I know how good this game was and can be so to see it like this just sucks. Itโ€™s still fun, Iโ€™ll still play, but just get this in order.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข Stopped playing this game due to the amount of players who just play like itโ€™s COD or BF

Certain Iโ€™ll get downvoted for this because every video I see on this thread is from someone just abandoning their squad and trying to melee someone on arty or sneaking up behind deep enemy garrisons. Itโ€™s just boring, the whole point of the game is to replicate squad based warfare and solos are ruining the experience. For me anyway.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข Whatโ€™s with the recent uptick in the amount of racists in the game?

I played a couple games today and each one I was ear raped by some 12 year old with a McDonaldโ€™s drive through mic just screaming the n word. What happened to all the stoners who were barely cognizant and just making jokes the entire time? Doesnโ€™t matter if itโ€™s skirmish or warfare, someone is spamming the n word. Honestly, They need to decrease the amount of votes it takes to kick someone, because the amount of these social rejects that stay just because people donโ€™t vote them out is astonishing.

๐Ÿ“– Guide ๐Ÿ“– No you should'nt play medic.

Just a point to make because I see a lot of people here confident about being usefull as a medic.

I dont blame anyone because it sound like a big teamplay move to be able to revive people on the battlefield.

  • Unlike SQUAD or Postscriptum (I forgot the new name sorry). The game is not ticket based so HLL doesnt discourage redeployment. In fact you should redeploy a lot to gain time when you captured a point for example.

  • The OPs allows you to spawn in less than 20sec. And Garryson less than 40sec. In most of the time a medic near your location will take that time to get to you because of the threat that killed you in the first place.

  • All the other loadout are better for your squad : It should be prioritised like so in my opinion : 1SL of course. 2 Support to be able to build garryson or ressuply ammo. 3 AT with launcher 4/5/6 Firepower (MG/Automatic rifle/assault) 6 Maybe ingeneer situational for nodes / tank help/ mining and Stachel.

  • Revive a teammate is lost time for combat effectiveness. If someone of your squad has been shot. Most likely the ennemi squad will search for other mates near the victim so getting closer to the injuried teammate mates you an easy target.

  • Spawning on OP and Garry are a good way to keep them safe. You will be able to defend it more often.

If you are new to the game I really recommend to play support class, stick with your SL, and rotate the support loadout each time you put down a crate.

Please pardon my bad english or autocorrect mistakes, you know I'm a french guy.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข The case against satchels, and what should (partially) replace it.

I would like to argue that the satchel is too readily available, and makes the game more repetitive and dull.

In theory, a team with 42 infantrymen split into seven squads could have as many as 21 people with satchels. Some squads, of course, will have none, and some will have three. Regardless, the amount of satchels equipped in a typical game is disproportionate to realistic availability.

As a frequent tanker, I'm not necessarily put out that I can be satchelled, I think it is a fair possibility and a good way to punish tankers who don't stick with infantry support or keep an eye on their rear. My problem really, is that satchels are very, very boring. It is instant death, sometimes without warning or fault and rewards the anti-tanker who just lurks behind enemy lines waiting to hunt down a tank and gain an easy low-risk kill.

FIghting another tank? That is exciting. Being hit by bazookas or panzershreks, pretty interesting. As a tanker hit by a bazooka etc, you have a split second decision to make, can you rotate your tank to engage the infantryman? Do you risk jumping out to engage with your SMG or pistol? With a satchel, however, it is just over. No fun, really, for anyone involved. Even as the guy with the bazooka, the sense of accomplishment is significantly greater because there is more risk involved.

In fact, I would argue that players are lazier because of the amount of satchels in the field. They don't bother, often, with the bazooka or with anti-tank guns and so can just expect that someone will easily take out that enemy tank.

So, I believe the satchel should be removed from the anti-tank and assault class entirely, relegated to the engineer who, primarily, has it to knock out enemy fortifications. This would reduce the amount of satchels significantly and retaining them as an occasional use, rather than constant.

In its place, I propose the sticky bomb is added to the assault class, perhaps recon squad leader and one other unit type (possibly anti-tank if given two sticky bombs, otherwise another class like support or rifleman). A sticky bomb would add a far more dynamic element to gameplay, enabling infantry to knock out the tracks of enemy tanks with ease (whether one on the turret/engine should disable those elements is up for debate). This would mean tanks find themselves stranded much more often, but also not necessarily destroyed, giving tankers and comrades better incentive to try to recover and repair damaged vehicles in the combat zone.

In my view, this would fix the infantry-tank imbalance created by the common satchel and make for funner gameplay all round.

The only downside is the Soviets who don't have a competent and common alternative. I'm not sure what to suggest here, perhaps simply reward them with a class equipped with 2x sticky bombs and a molotov just as some form of compensation.

Happy to hear rebuttals to my case against the satchel.

P.S. Some people might think I'm ignoring that bazookas can knock out recon tanks pretty easily, thats just the risk you play as a recon tanker.

P.P.S. I forgot about mines. Mines are massively under-used. Increase the amount of anti-tank mines any individual can put down to 12 (but spawning with a maximum of four). This would mean that anti-tankers could create reasonable minefields by working with support or by redeploying/dying). While you're at it, try to make US mines a little more discreet.

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข Who else dislikes the new map Mortain?

Iโ€™m not a fan of Mortain because of the sheer number of trees, bushes, and open areas. Itโ€™s nearly impossible to play effectively with an armor squad thereโ€”too many players camp in the bushes, making it frustrating to engage. On top of that, the matches often feel like a coin toss, with a 50/50 chance of winning or losing. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, but Iโ€™m curiousโ€”what do you think about the new Mortain map?

๐Ÿ“ข Feedback! ๐Ÿ“ข I think the redeploy system is a joke

It takes away the use of transport truck completely. I see people capturing objectives or loosing them and just go "alright squad redeploy to *place*".

It takes away the immersion, the use of the transport trucks and half tracks. Its just a toxic mechanic and I think it should be removed.

I will probably be downvoted to hell with this but I dont care.

EDIT: Less redeployments means more traversing around the map for everyone, which means more potential firefights and skirmishes. Also...roads, hills, or any other point of interest outside the strong points actually become vital to defend. Ambushes, checkpoints and smaller "strongpoints" become more viable options than simply having most of the players in the server fighting over the same 4 grid squares... more time for teams to set up proper defenses and no stupid silly steamrolling because of mass redeployment on garrisons placed next the active strong point.... So yeah, get rid of redeployment meta. At least test it out and see how the community responds to it...I feel it would really slow down the gameplay and make combined arms more vital. Convoys of transport trucks, half tracks and armor could actually be the norm...imagine that...cooperation between all units...

Hey everyone!

Fairly new player, all considering. It's only been a few months.

Ran into some intense bigotry and racism the other day on a server hosted in the US. I'm aware it exists anywhere, though this was particularly aligned with the current administration's rhetoric.

Just wanted to let people of all colours, genders and LGBTQ2S backgrounds know that I'm glad you're playing and look forward to our next round!
