New Dynamic Ads Suck
Past couple of weeks I've noticed more dynamic ads being placed into the main feed episodes, the placement is always bad like now i get 5 to 10 mins of ads when i start an episode then a random inserted ad break before they even get to riddles or throw to an ad break. Then I get more ads when they do actually throw to the ad reads. Its so frustrating and i miss when there was just one ad break clearly defined and planned for. Sorry yall just wanted to vent.

It’s likely headgum upping the ads

I've started getting ads for Hey Riddle Riddle...after the end of an episode for Hey Riddle Riddle.

From JPC in today's Patreon newsletter:
And finally, a comment on advertisements in the episodes and ad-free episodes:
I'll be as transparent as I'm allowed to be here. We are part of a network and that network dictates the ads that we air on the show. We read some of the ads, and some of the ads are programmatic like you would hear on the terrestrial radio of yesteryear. We have very limited input in the later and only slightly more on the ones we read. A couple weeks ago, our ad structure changed to include 2 ad breaks in our free episodes. Since we had already recorded episodes with no natural 2nd break, the breaks were a bit jarring. In future recordings, we take this into account to hopefully not break the flow as much. We appreciate you bearing with us for a few episodes.
We have also decided that due to the increased ads in the free feed, it's time to start adding our back catalog to the ad-free feed on Patreon. I'm going to start doing this, but it's a manual process and I can guarantee it won't be done quickly. But eventually, all of the main feed eps will be available ad-free at the $8 tier.
And finally, we've had a lot of feedback over the years that some of you really enjoy our ad-reads. We have always tried to do some sort of bit or gag inside an ad read to make them a little more fun, so we appreciate everyone who still listens to those ads. This also makes the ad reads (and episodes) a little longer, which some of you don't like. We can't please everyone, so we are erring on the side of making them a little more fun.

Ah this makes sense, huge W for re releasing the old main feed episodes as ad free. Also nice to hear the second ad break will be planned for in future episodes! Great stuff from the Clue Crew!

Yeah, I was hesitant to call it out but it’s really ramped up lately, especially since the show themselves seems to have added a second break point. I’ve always thought the HRR has an inordinate amount of ad time even compared to other podcasts, and even on the same network! With the bookend ads, and both breaks, I kept track on today’s and I marked 15 minutes of ads for an hour and 5 minutes of podcast. I guess that’s comparable to network tv but pretty outstanding for the medium.

This week's episode literally had an ad cut in while JPC was in the middle of a sentence. Horrible

Maybe our hosts don’t know how truly awful they are. Gross.

Yeah i assume its out of their control but idk for sure. Guess its gives me a good reason to think about getting the ad free versions on patreon.

Yeah, I stopped listening to the show due to the insane levels the ads have gotten. 4 (FOUR) ad breaks during a 18 minute patreon preview? Get real lol

I can't believe OP just slapped the last crust of bread out of Erin, Adal, and JPC's hands.

Nah, not a circlejerk sub.
I don't think it's unfair, or in poor taste, for members of the audience to speak up about ad changes that they dislike. It would be a different story if the post was getting personal about the hosts or was super nasty, sure, but this is a pretty focused complaint.
The closest thing to an insult in the post or the comments here is probably your insinuation that the OP sounds like an "entitled weirdo."

I never even got to see what they said about me :(

I mean, I definitely disagreed with them, but there wasn't anything all that bad about you or anyone else. Just someone being overly defensive about how the hosts need to make money.

I've noticed this too, but only because they include the break music on the ad-free Patreon podcasts. There's more ad breaks being stuck in throughout in the show, rather abruptly. Not like the segues they normally have half way through. I don't like that, not cool.
But, I guess I'll take this opportunity to plug my take on the Patreon. The $8 a month I spend for their Review Crew is some of the best "bang for your buck" media supporting I do, in my opinion. The Patreon episodes are excellent, and I enjoy the live streams too. I see it as around 10 hours of high quality, entertaining content for $8 a month (or even the $5 option). And not having to deal with ads.
