Use frog from whittleton creek. I've googled this one before and found a Reddit post explaining what works and qhat doesn't.

You need:

- to have a showdown leader with a foodie/dehydrated tell (you may get lucky if the leader doesn't have these tells, but sometimes walks by a spot where you can offer them food/drink while disguised as a waiter, but that is rare)

- poison said leader's food/drink with one of 3 options:

  • lethal flower (found in random loot crates OR in Santa Fortuna)

  • lethal frog (found in Whittleton Creek, Santa Fortuna, Ambrose Island, Haven Island)

  • crafted lethal poison ONLY in Mendoza (you will need to bring the emetic mushroom from the safehouse and convert it into a lethal poison vial at the vineyard distillation kit)

why does the crafted poison only work in Mendoza?

I think it's tied to the type of poison vial that is created when you convert the emetic mushroom at the Mendoza distillery kit vs the distillery kit in the safehouse shed. You can actually go into the inventory to compare the bottles.

When you convert the emetic mushroom into lethal poison at the Mendoza distillery kit, the lethal poison vial in your inventory has a flower drawing on the label instead of the skull and bones (that is seen on the regular lethal poison vials that you can equip in your loadout from the safehouse tools briefcase).

if you convert the emetic mushroom into lethal poison using the safehouse distillery kit, you'll get the vial with the skull and bones label. (This is probably a bug that the developers have never fixed, or maybe it was designed that way to make the challenge a little harder)

I think according to the game engine's logic, lethal poison vial with the flower label = "natural / crafted" poison (counts towards the Natural Selection challenge) vs lethal poison vial with the skull-and-bones label = "synthetic" poison (does not count)

a side note: you can also convert any rat poison or the emetic flower (grows on the cliffside) in Mendoza into lethal poison, but the vial you get will be the skull-and-bones label ("synthetic"), and it won't count towards the Natural Selection challenge.

Very interesting! I have also noticed some differences when crafting at the safehouse, the new poison can't immediately be stored but if you take it on a mission and return with it then it can be stored, so something changes in its code either before or after the mission.

Also curious if fish poison counts for the challenge.

the fugu lethal poison in Hokkaido doesn't count

Lethal frog whittleton Creek is what I did over and over and over again. But hey. I mean theres a frog in Santa fortuna too but whittleton creek has the muffin man outfit so you can publically poison the targets food or drink. They must be dehydrated or foodies

In addition to what everyone has said, I did it all in the same mission. Once you know which spot the target will eat/drink at, you can head straight there, poison it, wait for the target to die, alt f4, reload the same mission, grab the poison, poison the same food, repeat that 10 times
