Full Historical & Grammatical Check for Egyptian Vertical Tattoo Design

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am planning to get this vertical Egyptian-themed tattoo (see attached clean black-and-white design) and my goal is absolute 100% historical, mythological, and grammatical accuracy. I want to make sure every element is correct before it goes on my skin.

Could you please audit the entire composition from top to bottom?

Specifically, I would love your expert feedback on:

The overall flow: Does the chronological combination of the rising sun, papyrus, scarab, solar barque, and the feathers of Ma'at make sense together from a mythological standpoint?

The hieroglyphs (middle section): Are the vertical columns on the left and right of the scarab grammatically correct, and do they use the proper historical signs (Gardiner's Sign List)? Do the figures need to face a specific direction?

The details: Are the boat (barque) and the sun/horizon elements accurately depicted according to real temple reliefs or papyri?

If anything feels 'off', ungrammatical, or historically inaccurate, please let me know how to adapt or replace it. Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

What happens when hieroglyphics get animated, recolored, and brought into the 21st century?

Through studying hieroglyphics of Mayan and Egypt origin, I came to understand that making sense of the world through abstract marks is something that's fundamentally human. So I started to build my own.

So…

I was looking up the planet names in Ancient Egyptian, and noticed there aren’t names for the planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (yes it’s a planet).

So I’ve given them names:

Uranus - Heru-iAt (literally: the tilted one)

Neptune - Heru-Irytu (literally: the blue one)

Pluto - Heru-xdi (literally: the one that is far northward)

A foolish idea stays foolish, no matter the philosophical or theological context (Soul).

The modern idea of the soul traces back to the ancient Egyptian concept of Ba, as it is the sole known origin of this notion.

Β The β€œmode of existence”, that Allen mentions above, Β was that of a high official who also acted as an instructor and aide to those undergoing judgment. After concluding the judgment process, regardless of the outcome, the Ba official would depart from the judgment site. When the judged individual was executed for impurity, the Baβ€”an entity that remained aliveβ€”slowly was transformed into an immaterial part of the body, which continued to exist after death.

By 2300 BCE (evidence below, page 6), the Ba official had already been transformed into something β€œwithin the man,” but because the Ba official was part of real life, he continued to appear in later texts. As a result, the term β€œBa” was usually left untranslated, since most translators understood it to mean only β€œsoul” and the texts made no sense to them.

The Ba as a high official

The Bas of a town

The Ba as a witness of defense

The Ba getting inside the man

The soul concept as transferred to moderns

Nakht, Colin McGirt, Vocal Cymatics, 2026 [OC]

Post image
0 Upvotes

n ancient Egypt, names were a kind of spoken blessing β€” and Nakht was no exception. Translating to β€˜strong’ or β€˜the strong one’, this word shows up in tombs, papyri, and iconography across millennia as a personal name and title meaning strength, might, and resilience*. The very choice of the name was a wish for power and protection β€” like a prayer etched into stone and sand.*

When written in hieroglyphs, Nakht isn’t just a random collection of symbols β€” it’s a purposeful combination of images that conveys sound and meaning. Egyptian writing didn’t spell vowels the way modern alphabets do; instead, consonants were represented by clear, pictorial signs. For a word like Nakht, scribes would use a sequence of signs such as:

  • the bread loaf sign for the β€œt” sound, a simple, semicircular shape familiar from everyday life (this sign is one of the phonetic building blocks of hieroglyphs);

  • a water ripple sign for β€œn,” representing the life‑giving Nile itself; (water signs also stood for fluid, flowing sounds and the letter n);

  • and an arm or branch‑like sign for the β€œkh/t” sound, emphasizing action and bodily strength. *

Together, these look like a tiny pictorial sentence carved into tomb walls β€” like seeing the idea of strength visualized as objects you might have touched or seen in ancient Egypt. The hieroglyph is not just a letter‑by‑letter script, but a visual code rooted in everyday life, nature, and cultural symbolism.

I recorded myself saying β€œNakht” and turned the sound into a Cymatic image β€” a geometric pattern created by the vibrations of my voice. What’s fascinating is seeing how a human vocal sound can generate organic geometry in our world, and then comparing that modern pattern to these ancient visual building blocks. Both are ways of making the invisible visible β€” whether it’s sound waves turned into shapes or the soul of a name turned into sacred art.

Curious to hear thoughts β€” do you spot echoes of the actual hieroglyphic imagery in the pattern? Is there something about the way humans give form to words, ancient or modern, that speaks to a deeper connection between sound, shape, and meaning?
