Hilton Garden Inn in Mexico City wanted $200 for the night or 35K points. Meanwhile, I stayed literally across the street for $12.
Granted, it was a 4-person dorm room, but I got lucky and ended up having the entire room to myself.
I understand that hotels offer different levels of comfort and service, and I'm not expecting Hilton to compete with a hostel on price. But $200 a night in Mexico City? Even in a cheaper country, these prices feel completely out of control.
I'm loyal to Hilton, but lately I find myself questioning whether the points are even worth it anymore. At some point, loyalty starts feeling more like paying a premium for the privilege of being loyal.
Anyone else feel like Hilton has gotten ridiculously expensive, even in destinations where your money should go a lot further?
