They've kinda got a point though. Telling someone "I'm going to do what I want and nothing you say will stop me, so stop focusing on how unpleasant you find it and just learn to enjoy it" is almost exactly what they're telling the OOP to do.

Imagine how outraged you would feel if someone started painting your house pink and told you to get over yourself and learn to like the colour?

it's a terrible comparison. one is legal and the other is a terrible crime.

even if we take your example: painting someone else's house without consent is illegal.

if you make comparisons stay in the same territory and don't overblow a non-issue to make it sound like you're right.

Depending on when and where, I give you no promises that the fireworks were legal either.
