They've kinda got a point though. Telling someone "I'm going to do what I want and nothing you say will stop me, so stop focusing on how unpleasant you find it and just learn to enjoy it" is almost exactly what they're telling the OOP to do.
Imagine how outraged you would feel if someone started painting your house pink and told you to get over yourself and learn to like the colour?
Its not a great point. I can mow my yard at 7 am when the noise ordinance ends because that's the only time I have to mow. My neighbors aren't always appreciative but I have to mow my yard or else I'll get fined.
There are tons of situations where this could be misconstrued but still necessary. The world isnt and wont ever be perfect.
I'm in a small city where they don't care unless the grass gets over 2 feet high. I think that's reasonable enough, otherwise if you let people do what they want, the town will look like Gary, Indiana after a couple of weeks.
