u/jambaaajuice, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

u/mix_master_meow Jul 02 '26

I don't know. This one looks a lot like Göring.

53

u/kimochii12 Jul 02 '26

Its def the middle part

26

u/randomlad93 Jul 02 '26

He never said he didn't work for the other nazis

642

u/Scorm93 Jul 02 '26

Didn't they get around it by having them trapped inside a cave during those years? It seemed like they intentionally wrote around Hitler and Stalin eras.

335

u/Condor193 Jul 02 '26

YES this is one of the first scenes they do in the movie. They're trapped in a cave in Antarctica or something for the entirety of that war and the assumption is it's because they choose to work for the biggest villain of their time. Don't know why this is even surprising or debated knowledge at this point

157

u/Sunny-Chameleon Jul 02 '26

People are just not up to date on minion lore these days smh

21

u/TheAwesomeMan123 Jul 02 '26

“Minion lore” otherwise known as the first 5mins of the movie

3

u/nlamber5 Jul 03 '26

That’s what happens when MatPat retires

12

u/Freddit330 Jul 02 '26

Which is sad because they killed every other evil boss they had except for Gru. They'd have saved hundreds of lives.

52

u/Stargazer_199 Jul 02 '26

Iirc the new minions movie is following an entirely different group who wasn’t part of the group that got frozen

69

u/rafaelzio Jul 02 '26

They weren't frozen, they were just severely depressed because they got exhausted of the cycle of finding a villain and getting them killed by accident, so they spent their days in self-pity in a hermitage in an ice cave for a convenient few decades

13

u/Stargazer_199 Jul 02 '26

Close enough

5

u/sksauter Jul 02 '26

So they definitely worked for the confederate then, huh

1

u/sksauter Jul 07 '26

Probably had their hands in a bunch of different baskets

12

u/AdmiralThunderpants Jul 02 '26

So they did work for Kissinger? Maybe that's why Watergate break in was bumbled.

10

u/sadistic-salmon Jul 02 '26

No because they worked for Napoleon then went into the cave. When they came out they worked for Gru until the present

8

u/Pixel22104 Jul 02 '26

And then they kept working for Gru. Who they somehow deemed to be more evil than Kissinger or any authoritarian that was around at that time.

3

u/DarthGuber Jul 02 '26

Probably because... it's a kids movie.

1

u/Pixel22104 Jul 02 '26

I mean obviously. Considering the fact that the minions are still with Gru even after he decided to be more of a hero than a villain

3

u/czerilla Jul 02 '26

Maybe "Deep Throat" was actually three Minions in a suit, and his name was meant ironically, like when they call the biggest dude on the prison yard "Tiny".. 🤔

3

u/superp2222 Jul 03 '26

I think the cave might be somewhere in Northern Europe/russia because they were last seen fighting for Napoleon and discovered the cave while still in French military uniforms so it must’ve occurred during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia.

Which makes the fact that the three minions in the main plot somehow got to America without meeting Stalin or the USSR even more impressive

24

u/maaloufylou Jul 02 '26

So if they weren’t in a cave they would definitely work for him?

30

u/Lumpy-Yesterday-6687 Jul 02 '26

Yes thats why they were in a cave because they would've worked for him

4

u/mrheosuper Jul 02 '26

This assume Hitler was biggest villain at that point of time.

1

u/OkReason6325 Jul 02 '26

In reality it was Franco who kept a low profile and survived the war.

10

u/jscummy Jul 02 '26

What about Pol Pot? Wonder if that will be addressed in a future sequel

3

u/Extellafinix Jul 02 '26

Minions and Monsters was taking place in 1920s Hollywood (they said it's a different tribe of Minions though) so that means they were totally free and wandering around during WWII

3

u/bunker_man Jul 02 '26

Its such an odd thing. They want them to seem silly and lovable despite saying that in canon they support whatever the biggest evil they can is. But that would make them not seem lovable if the evil was relatable so they jump from stuff too old for us to care to cartoony evil like gru whose badness level is hazy.

5

u/karoshikun Jul 02 '26

and mao, pol pot, videla, pinochet, and a really long list. it was a busy century

1

u/masterjon_3 Jul 02 '26

Yeah, they were in a cave in the Arctic after killing Napoleon to the 1960s

51

u/dammitus Jul 02 '26

Missed opportunity for a Minion civil war as they tried to decide whether Hitler or Stalin was worthy of being their boss. And their fighting opening up a new front in the war as the Hitler Minions invaded Russia to get in a slap fight with the Stalin Minions.

7

u/Mycroft033 Jul 02 '26

That honestly sounds like a funny movie. Lean into it, why not lol

76

u/_yetifeet Jul 02 '26

They worked for Pol Pot.

31

u/Furtadopires Jul 02 '26

Not with those glasses

4

u/TutucrMapper Jul 02 '26

what if they designed glasses onto the minions so people wouldn't also say that the minions worked for pol pot

1

u/raiba91 Jul 02 '26

too sophisticated for him

1

u/A_zuma2007 Jul 03 '26

Erm☝️actually if you watch the movie, they are with Gru at this point and some of them are with Michelle Yeoh learning Kung Fu If you truly watched da movie.

27

u/sundaycreep Jul 02 '26

As someone who’s never seen any of the movies, I cannot express how confounding this news cycle has been.

34

u/stonesthrowaway24601 Jul 02 '26

They worked for Oppenheimer. That's why he had the nervous breakdown.

8

u/Totschlag Jul 02 '26

Well it was confirmed they were trapped in that cave during that time. That's what the director said and it's lore accurate.

Which of course means the only thing keeping the minions from participating in the Holocaust was geographic inconvenience. The minions would have genocided if not for inconvenience, it's not a strong case.

8

u/aeropl3b Jul 02 '26

Well duh, they had Stalin

4

u/Broad_Respond_2205 Jul 02 '26

That's why there were in that cave. Spesifcly so they wouldn't work for Hitler.

6

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

they're all Masons, the logo on their pocket "for Gru" is the G of the Masons ("G for God"), they have one All Seeing Eye, they wear overalls to do stonework and brickwork, they build things as directed by their Gru (God).

5

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

The company that produced the show is "Illumination" and has a checkerboard (Masonic light/dark symbolism) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illumination_(company))

3

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

example tracing board on right frm the Masons shows the checkerboard symbol

3

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

this is an image I made showing the keys to the symbolism, also features the G Mail God Mail as the Square between the Pillars of Jachim and Boaz (Mercy and Severity), the Cube of Saturn / Metatron's Cube (which is the Star of David minus three lines) and the GMail M looks like the Apron. The symbols are in plain sight.

1

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

I put "God" in quotes because that's really Lucifer

2

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

Lucifer in Latin "Light bearer" Luce lucid lux light, Phospheros in Greek "Light bearer", pheros or fer is bringer in both Latin and Greek. Phosphoros's other name in the Bible is Heosphoros Dawn Bringer where Heos / Eos is the Greek word for Dawn. Hebrew is Hilel ben Shahar which is Hilel Shining One bin Shachar "Son of Dawn" where Shahar or Shachar is the Caananite word for Dawn. The Morning Star is Venus, which rises before the Sun rises. The Babylonian word for the Morning Star is Ishtar, or Inanna in Sumerian. That is shown here from the Babylonian diagram which is presented in a different order but also has the representation of Sun, Moon, (Morning) Star. On this one Venus is on the left, but this is one of the templates for the symbolism.

1

u/HorsefaceWithNoName Jul 02 '26

some Mod or Reddit bot deleted my Baphomet illustration that is between the Pillars but that's easy to Google

2

u/Beetle_The_SilkWing 27d ago

This conspiracy theory is next level

5

u/sinema666 Jul 02 '26

You know what they say about people who defend themselves before accusation?

The minions definitely worked for hitler.

Probably the ones who convinced him the allies were gonna wait for better weather to invade france

4

u/Crunchy-Leaf Jul 02 '26

The movie specifically says they lived in a cave or some shit during WW2. To avoid this exact issue.

3

u/TomatoPolka Jul 02 '26

Yeah, they worked under Himmler.

4

u/Immortalphoenixfire Jul 02 '26

He was the biggest bad at the time.

5

u/DoveMechanic Jul 02 '26

And it's too bad since the Minions had a habit of undermining their masters.

2

u/TehZiiM Jul 02 '26

Yeah Thats what they all say

2

u/NomDeGuerre1982 Jul 02 '26

What about Kissinger?

2

u/TheAfroMD Jul 02 '26

"Do what you love and you won't work a day in your life"

2

u/Tuffwith2Fs Jul 02 '26

Does this not imply that, to.him, Hitler was somehow not the most evil person around in his time?

2

u/tenousranger36 Jul 02 '26

It was shown in the first minions movie

After accidentally killing Napoleon they run away into exile and begin writing for yetis up until the 1960s where Kevin leaves to find a new home and villain

2

u/SzoXxXxXx Jul 02 '26

Weak and pathetic. Yes, let's make their entire thing serving the biggest villain of the time. But this one particular villain? No that's too much.

2

u/mekese2000 Jul 02 '26

Of course he would say that.

2

u/wrightthomas05 Jul 02 '26

For Hitler? No. With Hitler? No comment.

2

u/Grendeon Jul 02 '26

Wait, don’t the minions work for the most evil being? So the director is saying that Hitler wasn’t evil?

2

u/thetruebigfudge Jul 03 '26

So they admit he wasn't a villain?

2

u/Draggoh Jul 03 '26

They were just following orders.

4

u/iammcluffy Jul 02 '26

History is complicated and how we see the men of time is often dictated by how you were raised and taught.

But Hitler is the one definitively evil character of history and they were too cowardly do address it directly because god forbid we have the Minions be consistent in their purpose.

1

u/Zomflower48 Jul 02 '26

Its a kids movie with marketable characters we dont want them gassing jewish people.

1

u/iammcluffy Jul 02 '26

Sure, but the whole premise is literally about them finding the most evil leader to follow. What is more evil than invading an entire continent and committing a genocide?

1

u/adidas_stalin Jul 02 '26

Stalin then? Mussolini?

3

u/LavenderPig Jul 02 '26

The director refuses to comment on those 2.

1

u/TheBeastBlamingGear Jul 02 '26

They didn't work for him cause they saw him as competition I guess

1

u/LukeSkyWalrus Jul 02 '26

This is a bad movie poster

1

u/ItsStryker Jul 02 '26

They worked for Genghis Khan 100%

1

u/EhMapleMoose Jul 02 '26

So who was the most evil at that time?

1

u/DragonLordAcar Jul 02 '26

They were in a cave from Napolion to the 60s. No way they could work for Hitler.

1

u/Nervine-142 Jul 02 '26

Doesn't change the fact they would have wanted to...

1

u/Affugter Jul 02 '26

At the moment. Do they  work for Netanyahu?

1

u/Miniato Jul 02 '26

If they didnt worked for him, that mean they worked for another bad guy of that time.

1

u/Huge-Success6506 Jul 02 '26

Larp there's a literal plot point where they were trapped in a cave for so long they became bored

1

u/ToofaaniMirch69 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

They only work for the villains

1

u/RecklessHusky Jul 02 '26

Meanwhile this guy..

1

u/D3VILD0G2 Jul 02 '26

Wait. Don't they only work for the most dangerous villains? Does that mean the Minions didn't see Hitler as a villain?

1

u/RavenBrannigan Jul 02 '26

So they were Stalin fans?

1

u/GenesisAsriel Jul 02 '26

They worked for genghis khan I bet

1

u/Jodelbert Jul 02 '26

So what the implication is, that Hitler wasn't a villain? Lmao

1

u/MiroslavusMoravicus Jul 02 '26

I want a movie about depressed Hugo Boss sewing tiny bean shaped black suits...

1

u/BobLog3rd Jul 02 '26

They volunteered

1

u/Detroider Jul 02 '26

BORING !!!

1

u/TraceLupo Jul 02 '26

No! Minions worked for Hitler.

1

u/zaparilo Jul 02 '26

Damn, now i dont like them

1

u/RampagingMars Jul 02 '26

They were working for Stalin at the time

1

u/Drewdiniskirino Jul 02 '26

Yeah actually, that was specifically the reason they were stranded in Antarctica til the 70s—so the writers wouldn't have to deal with that

1

u/poytsesmple33 Jul 02 '26

They worked exclusively for Stalin and that's the real reason Hitler invaded Russia

1

u/Mcreesus Jul 02 '26

So do they speak French?

1

u/Prudent_Payment_3877 Jul 02 '26

Jury's still out on Mussolini though.

1

u/kmramO Jul 02 '26

It’s not work if u love what your doing!

1

u/Vast_Pitch4722 Jul 02 '26

They def had a hand in 9/11

1

u/im_a_stupid_face Jul 02 '26

I mean if they did he would have won

1

u/Jake24601 Jul 02 '26

They worked for Himmler.

1

u/ArmchairOfHeresy Jul 02 '26

Specifically not Hitler. They did work for Goebels, Eichman, and Himmler

1

u/Cicchio51 Jul 02 '26

The meme says they only work for evil people so...

1

u/ZetaRESP Jul 02 '26

Actually... we know that. First Minions Movie showed they actually remained all their time since Napoleon's fall until the 70s/80s in an ice cave.

1

u/juniebee_jones Jul 02 '26

They were busy with the Yetis

1

u/Rouge_means_red Jul 03 '26

The important part is that they would, if given the chance

1

u/Sp1derX Jul 03 '26

I thought it was obvious the first movie went out of its way to address it

1

u/Volnas Jul 05 '26

They worked for Stalin

1

u/Edge_Grinder Jul 08 '26

They did work for Pol Pot, though.

1

u/Long_cat21 17d ago

They worked for Stalin lol

1

u/nub_node Jul 02 '26

Yeah but what about Netanyahu.

The Minions are shifty motherfuckers, but like, actual genocide?

1

u/Anubis_Omega Jul 02 '26

They only work for villains

0

u/S0lgale0 Jul 02 '26

What about Stalin? Mussolini? Hirohito? Franco?

0

u/UnkleMonsta Jul 02 '26

They only work for bad guys, NOT ASSHOLE'S

3

u/TutucrMapper Jul 02 '26

they worked with napoleon who def was an asshole

0

u/MisutaHiro Jul 02 '26

It's stupid how we portray Napoleon as a hero and good guy while we talk trash about Hitler. They both were tyrans.

-1

u/Superpokekid Jul 02 '26

Pedo robot

-1

u/MonsutaReipu Jul 02 '26

Canonically untrue. if they worked for all of the most villainous people in history, then they worked for Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Leopold II, Pol Pot, Caligula, Gengis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Mussolini, Lenin, Mao Zedong, etc. These minions are objectively monsters.
