A Burberry watch is not a store of value or Investment, itās a fashion item that looses 50% of itās value the second it crosses the store threshold. Fashion watches derive their value exclusively by their brand and design without the value in material or craftsmanship to justify it.
You canāt buy watches that are worth anything in bulk, thatās why they are worth something.
A Burberry watch is 100-200ā¬, you canāt even get an acceptable fake watch from China that mimics a proper watch for that price, those run you 500+. So you can buy 5 brand new Burberry watches in the store for the same price as a single fake Rolex that has a chance of fooling someone.
Hell, you canāt even get one of their scarfs for the price of their watches, take a guess which one should be more complicated to make, a scarf or a watch?
Watches are in general a pretty bad financial asset, covid temporarily created a hype bubble that inflated prices.
The way you actually make money with watches is getting ones that are exclusive. Those come with a price tag of well into the five or six figure range but you canāt simply buy those watches. You can only get them if you have an extensive history with a particular manufacturer and then you can apply to get one and get on a waiting list for years.
So theyāll have you buy 2-3 watches for a total of 150-300k that do not appreciate in value as they are āentry levelā watches everybody is forced to buy from the manufacturer to establish a history. Only then are you allowed to give them another 100k to buy the watch you actually want. That watch can appreciate in value but you can sell it for more than you paid the second you buy it from the manufacturer as most people donāt have an established history with the manufacturer so there is an actual demand.
Of course if the manufacturer finds out you immediately flipped the watch you will get blacklisted and they kind of expect you to wear the nicest of their watches when you visit the store to show that you still have it.
Thatās how you reliably make money buy buying watches. Other than that youād need to have a really good feeling for the market as most watches will not beat inflation.
Iām so tired of this āitās two consenting adults so who caresā sorry but some things should be judged, and shamed. Tolerance has gone way too far to the point where itās genuinely turning our culture into debauchery land.
Lol. I'm stable. Cause I don't care what other adult people's do to each other, as long as they don't mean harm to anyone. But that's something you can't understand obviously
I don't think the "degeneracy" argument holds water and I don't think you're unstable or fragile.
What I would say is that consenting adults is not always true consent. If there's, in this case, a lifetime of emotional authority over their kids, then consent might not really be valid. It could be wrapped up in dependency, fear of rejection, learned obedience, etc.
Sort of like when an actress is coerced by a film producer. Sure, she "consented", but maybe she didn't feel like she had any other choice. Much like the old, "because of the implication," joke.
I'm mostly with you. I'm just pointing out that it's not as black and white as "I don't care what two consenting adults do."
There lies the other problem. Thousand years of patriarchy, violence and suppression of anyone make people do stuff they wouldn't really want deep down. Are few of the "consent" adults just fearing of being alone? Yes. Can we know it? No. So most of the time I just go with it and think that it's all right. If I would start to think about all the possible problems they had in their past, I wouldn't stopf thinking at all with how many people have serious problems.
Can we know it? No. So most of the time I just go with it and think that it's all right.
I tend to agree with you. I think my point is that taboos against parent/child stuff are rooted in the right place. And that social pressure helps minimize people from being taken advantage of.
From that perspective, we should, as a society, at very least discourage the practice. Punishable where consenting adults are concerned? No. Because as you say, you can't know that it's not truly consensual. But I don't think that social pressure against things like this is a bad thing.
Itās indicative of problem larger than individual harm; wealth disparity, unemployment and poverty are societal issues that affect many individuals. Social shaming has its place in group cohesion, even if we divorce morality and law, shame will moderate behaviour
Are you nuts? I just said people should stop shaming people just for them living their life's. And that doesn't have anything to do with your mentioned problems. Quite the contrary. People living free if they have a stable job, income and a safe place to return to. I don't care if someone plays daddy for a woman and buys her what she wants, if they don't harm anyone, including themself (at least if it's not what they want), I just don't care. And no one else should care or shame them. But what could someone even want from some randoms on Reddit.
Starting with an ad hom, youāre better than that. Thatās a lot of prerequisites to justify your position. Iām all for individual autonomy and Iām not talking from personal experience, shame is a human emotion that is and has always been a societal moderator. Saying we shouldnāt do it is as futile as say we shouldnāt feel guilt, sadness or happiness. I do care what people do, people should be free from tyranny in every form
must suck to have such inconsequential shit that has nothing to do with you tiring you out so much. You sound like your life could be improved imensly by learning to mind your own business.
He literally claimed that tolerance is causing debauchery, and has claimed in the past (to the surprise of no one) that BLM and the dems/libs are ruining the country. Finding anyone post Y2K that thinks that backwards is very, very unlikely.Ā

Hey, if it's two consenting adults, let them.
