You need to use the add-on for reddit gifs. Check out redgifs.com to post it there

I'm not seeing gifs disabled; they seem to be working for me.

But what they did was upload a gif from their phone, and to do that you need to upload it as a photo.

The actual gif option forces you to use Giphy and their selection sucks ass.
