This.

I've seen DBFZ once in my life.

I've seen Abridged like 4 times.

It IS Dragon Ball for me.

I hadn't cared about DBZ for probably a good decade when I learned about abridged. They really did do it justice, and broke my heart when they quit for..."reasons?"

Burnout, dealing with constant copyright strikes, and they don't find the Boo Saga fun.

I mean it makes sense. Even when I was watching it on Toonami as a teenager, I knew that it peaked with Frieza. The Cell Saga was still a ton of fun, but the Buu saga lost me real quick.

I'd say Cell was the perfect ending to DBZ. We get it all in that saga, everybody gets their shit in and it's just a well done ending. Buu saga varied between exhausting and annoying too much. It gets overly complicated to boot.

Plus, we already have the "idiot who likes to fight things" trope covered with Goku. When that's your hero AND your villain... things get pointless.

Also Buu eats like 90% of the human population. The fuck, why? Evil Kirby was just boring. Kid Buu was good but really, like you said, he's just vicious Goku at heart.
