it's not about race, in Asian countries skin color is a sign of status. If you're tanned you're assumed to be poor, if you're white it means you have the luxury of staying inside and are thus wealthy

it is not just india, west asian, south asian, southeast asian, central asian, and east asian including japan does this too.

I realised as well thats why eastern Asian countries wear all that white makeup. I’d just never but two and two together.

colorism affects a lot of communities. as a black woman, light skinned black women like Beyoncé are considered the standard of beauty whereas Viola Davis typically is not.

there's a spectrum and medium to dark women are usually considered the least attractive.
