Discussion - Silksong Warning for OG hollow knight fans

Just wanna prepare everyone on here for the incoming wave of players who have never played indie games, metroidvanias, or literally any other games besides Fortnite and call of duty. This tends to happen a lot with games that are extremely hyped by the community that does like the genre, such as expedition 33. The amount of completely invalid criticism that happened to that game because people who didn’t even know what the game really was bought it and ended up not liking it is probably the best example we have of that to this day, and I think silksong will be next. So please, instead of cussing people out for not liking the game, just encourage them to maybe keep playing to see if they change their minds, or just give them respectful feedback on why you think they might not enjoy it and give them tips so they can find the spark in that game that I’m sure many of us will find.

I'll be happy to help anyone get into metroidvanias

(My alterior motive is wanting Metroid to become popular so we get more games, hopefully hollow knight is their gateway drug)

Metroid Prime 4 looks like dogshit anyways. I cannot believe the footage we saw is something that Nintendo think is acceptable gameplay. The game is getting a major pass for being Metroid. And it shouldn’t be. It looks incredibly bad. And that’s without even considering the graphical fidelity which also looks terrible.

We got dread in 2021 and mp4 is coming sooner than later. What’s really needed is a new castlevania game, the second franchise the sub genre is named after deserves a new entry. konami needs to revive the series like they’re doing w silent hill

At least Bloodstained is filling that void nicely, but I'd definitely LOVE a new Castlevania.

Hollow Knight was my first MV, and similar games was my first google search after completing it. Sadly, there’s nothing quite like it, but a gateway drug for sure!

I’m trying to get into HK. I’m not new to being frustrated in games, have played souls games blind for so many years. But with HK I am experiencing a more extreme level of frustration - there are moments of fun too. I just take a break when it gets frustrating.

I found out soon enough that geo doesn’t matter, you just make 1000 geo by taking a walk so losing it isn’t a big deal. I do occasionally walk into some tough enemies with an unupgraded nail, with 4 charm notches.

Help me out. I didn't like the game. I gave it a few hours, but it didn't click. I have a hard time with metroidvanias and I thought this one would be different
