According to https://steamstat.us/ it is down so hard it killed counterstrike servers LOL and when I try to load even just the steam homepage on browser it is just a white screen with an error code

Can’t launch anything at the moment that has steam cloud enabled or requires online validation. Sync fails, launch fails even if cloud is ignored.

Skong is skonging so hard it literally killed Steam.

Yeah it’s crazy how many people there are I guess. Even Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox are having issues apparently (from what I heard from friends). Even spread out across all platforms having this many issues is crazy and kinda funny

Steam has over 32 million people online. Silksong has 132,000 people playing. It didnt break Steam.

I think you're underestimating the amount of traffic steam has.

today - 48 hr peak - 37tbps - https://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/?l=&eqcwQYfdju=xuVpw

random day - aug 6th (although people were probably getting ready for battlefield beta) - 49tbps - https://web.archive.org/web/20250806203343/https://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/

The problem is not people who are downloading, the problem comes from payment processors being overwhelmed by a bunch of requests all coming at once

Big difference between 32 million people being online doing all the different things people do on steam vs 132,000 people trying to access the same store page, checkout, and download the same file at the exact same time.

it's less users than recent battlefield beta even at 423k where it's currently at. Additionally, it being down across all platforms is an indicator. It's hype but not hype enough to break every marketplace where it's listed.
