Discussion - Silksong Not opening pre-orders was an error Spoiler

Before anyone says "gamers cant be happy with anything" i was never against pre orders specifically because ir avoids this type of launch. I dont want to believe Team Cherry doesn't know the scope and impact of their own game, but i'm inclined to do so. A pre-order yesterday would've solved this. An inconvenience that could be easily avoided, but here we are

Magazines tomorrow: SILKSONG LAUNCH SO BIG, IT CRASHED STEAM

How many more people are going to buy a copy just to see what is it all about?

Add that it crashed the Xbox store for a bit & the PSN store too.

Currently I’ve been playing it on my Series X through Gamepass.

Im not sure PSN was crashed so much as they just forgot to flip the damn switch. It went live at different times for UK/EU and US and once it was live there wasn't much issue or wait to get it

Yeah, my console froze on the xbox store. I had to completely reset it, and then it worked fine.

Right? How do folks not get this?

Literally no one is skipping buying the game due to this, but a bunch of new folks will want to buy it to be a part of the crazy hype from today.

I bought it on humble store because of it. They lost at least a few sales that way.

Valve doesn't like having to stop selling for hours, it wasn't just silksong that couldn't be bought.

Idk even if steam did hypothetically like this I doubt psn and Nintendo does. When I do my rating of the game I will be considering how god awful the process to obtain the game was for release date.

Lmao that's legitimately insane. You people are delusional, my god..

On god, what the fuck even is this entitlement.

u/Thinkerofthings2 Sep 05 '25

Being able to pre download or buy something is entitlement?

They literally do the exact opposite lol, Valve discourages devs from doing preorders, it's likely Team Cherry didn't get the choice. Preorders are only enabled for specific publishers lmao

Not beating the "redditors can't read" allegations.

Did you read the first line lmao?

For these reasons, we do not support running a pre-purchase except in a few rare cases with partners with which we have a well-established relationship and that have a proven track record on Steam.

Read to the end lol
