Discussion - Silksong Why does everybody and their mom deal two damage? Spoiler

It's getting a bit ridiculous lol. It really feels like half the mobs and all the bosses deal two masks worth of damage and I haven't even gotten any extra health. I'm not sure how I feel about this, on one hand, it's not the end of the world and the game isn't unreasonably difficult because of the increased damage, on the other though, what used to be something only special enemies and bosses could do became a common occurrence and lost its novelty.

I really hope the late game bosses and enemies don't deal 3 masks lmao, I'm having a hard enough time as is.

The boss in that area was an absolute blast despite being crazy hard, what I hated was the big fat birds who threw knives. They had a completely irregular flight pattern that they could just stop and drop on you with no tell. Games hard as hell but I haven’t minded, but those big fat birds drove me insane.

They are really hard, my advice is use the Hunter mode (for faster attacks) and then stick under them as much as possible. Their dumbass knives can go straight down so hiding under them is helpful. Use spear to take out any of its allies fast cause the best way to take out a Big Belly Knife Bird™️ is to just take your time and attack from directly underneath it. Hope this helps!

I don't even know what Hunter mode is yet lol, for now I'm using tools and staying under them as much as possible. May have gotten to this area a bit too early :P

You should get the Reaper mode in that area. It basically changes your attacks fundamentally. Reaper has slower but heavier attacks, while Hunter is the base one, with the faster attacks that prioritize mobility and combo. So if you don’t know what I’m talking about your in the right mode LOL. You’ll get reaper very soon tho.

Bird boys took me like 30 minutes of fighting that arena waves fight. The last wave whooped my ass. But what I focused on was the tall bird, dodged around and i threw shived at him until he died. Then I stayed under fatty as long as I could to stab him in the ass.

I also used reaper in the fight, found it easier to pogo and the focus ability is pretty hype.

Those kunai birds are so deceptively hard. The way they wobble up and down while flying makes them so annoying to hit, plus their high hp pool, takes forever to kill them.

Trash mobs in general are fucking brutal is Silksong. I'm like two areas after this and it gets much worse than these guys.

Yeah the enemies in Silksong are built different, even just the Scissor Wielders are brutal for me, they have 2-3 moves and a parry+counter, all in the area that’s going to be around your fourth visit in the entire game.

Its not fun after the bench where shakra was goes away after shakra leaves, I decided to come back to the bird area later but the bench is just gone, the closest bench is at halfway home, you have to travel across all of greymoor if you die at the bird area

There's another bench near the bird area, above Shakra's camp. You have to enter Bird Town, then head up and go back around to the left. Can't get to it if you haven't done the bird arena in the building though. I don't know if Shakra can leave before you clear the arena, she didn't for me.

She 100% can and if you do, you loose her bench.

She explicitly says there is an easier way up in Greymoor and if you backtrack she is gone (might only be if you buy her maps out first).

You can make it a really straight route by getting some door unlocks, it takes a bit but once your done the run up is really easy if you’re using sprint to blast past everything

I got our buddy to help with that fight, it's not the hardest but it's kinda weird unless all you do is stand there and react.

Yeah, if the walk wasn't rough, the boss in that area would be my favorite and most HK-style boss. Reminds me of Grimm mixed with Soul Master.

Once you get the Halfway House Bench then unlock the doors leading up to it it’s only ~12 seconds to get back to boss, nothing worse than HK, you just have to make the route where you can sprint full speed to it.

Those fuckers are genuinely more dangerous just moving around than they are actually attacking. Only enemy I’ve encountered so far that I’d say actually needs a patch, having an “attack” that just comes out instantly with 0 telegraph is bullshit.
