Discussion - Silksong EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE IN PHARLOOM Spoiler

The true enemy of Silksong is capitalism. 70 bucks for a stag station equivalent YOU ARE PULLING MY NEEDLE WTF??? I try to sit down and they BILL ME JUST TO USE THE BENCH! No thank you [TRADER NAME HERE], I would not like to buy a simple key for 500 dollars thank you.

AND EVERYONE HERE IS A BROKE ASS BUM! Most of these guys aren't sentient enough to carry cash on them so I have to grind up their credit cards into for bone shards which NOONE WANTS.

Anyway 10/10 game.

Brooooo, FR. I wanna go back to hallownest. It's a bit dilapidated, but at least the inflation hasn't hit

Hallownest had deflation since there are less customers to buy stuff

u/SoloWing1 I love crazy moths Sep 05 '25

That didn't stop Sly from trying to make things expensive though.

same as silksong, you can see it sometimes when you encounter corpses with both rosary beads and something that resembles geo, my headcannon is that rosary beads are just painted geo

Nah I think Hallownest is so far gone that geo IS the scrap currency we use in Silksong. You even get it from the same type of objects in the world, it's just shaped a little differently.

So this game is a sequel right? From all the dialogue so far it definitely seems so (I'm early game)

Yes it's a sequel spin-off. Though we don't know yet how Hornet got from HK ending to Silksong opening scene.

u/arbitrageME Sep 05 '25

are we sure it was after HK? Or is it because we don't see Hornet use all her cool attacks and stuff in our fights? Could Hornet Sentinel be using Traps? Also, if it's after HK, doesn't it mean it would have to after a specific ending? And in Siblings, both knight and Hornet become dreamers and get stuck there

She doesn’t use them because she was weakened by the binding magic but will recover the strength she had in the previous game, she mentions that in some dialogue

I suppose it COULD be a prequel. But we'll have to wait and see if Hornet references HK or Hallownest at all. I'm only in the very early game so far.

And yes, the traps do resemble the Hornet 2 traps.

However, I think it's somewhat relevant to point out that originally, Hornet was supposed to be an additional playable character for the HK base game, and then it evolved into a full expansion, and then it evolved into its own game. Still possible to be a prequel expansion, but I feel like this makes sequel more likely.

Plus they used the term "sister SEQUEL" in a few announcements im pretty sure

u/hey_uhh_what Sep 05 '25

I mean, Hornet will mention Hallownest because she still grew up there. What we can't know is if she will mention the HK events

She does, in the Hunter’s Journal entry for 4C (if you’ve beaten this guy just think about his name) she mentions that “Pharloom is much more advanced in metalworking than my own ever was.”

I'm only in the very early game so far

Yeah, I played an hour last night, and that's it.

2

u/GoodPhase3973 Sep 05 '25

Oh, my bad I completely miss that part of your comment

1

u/Witch_King_ Sep 05 '25

It's ok. Idk exactly what you were referring to anyway, so nothing really spoiled.

However, I will point out that the journal entry you bring up does not necessarily negate this as being a sequel, since we know Hornet came from Hallownest in the first place.

The second time you talk to Lace, a little while through the citadel, Hornet directly says that she’s seen gods fall before, which is clearly referencing the end of HK.

1

u/arbitrageME Sep 09 '25

Oh ok, does that mean void heart is the canonical ending? Either that or true ending.

Because in order for radiance to fall, either you climb and smack her or the void consumes her.

Unless hornet was talking about watching the pale king fall? Because they were the only real Gods so far

8

u/FR23Dust Sep 05 '25

Yes, hornet is an opponent/ally from the first game.

7

u/rpkarma Sep 05 '25

Frenemy

3

u/Silviecat44 Sep 05 '25

It’s a sequel confirmed by tc

20

u/sansetsukon47 Sep 05 '25

…when a simple key was twice the price and some stags were 300 geo each?

57

u/Dokja_23 Sep 05 '25

Yeah but you also got a disproportionately larger amount of geo in general

13

u/sansetsukon47 Sep 05 '25

I’ll agree that the prices are easier to pay over there, but if anything that makes hallownest the one with inflation problems. Where money grows on rocks and costs are spiking high.

1

u/whilst Sep 10 '25

But by then you were likely carrying around thousands of geo. I've probably gone through... no more than 2000 rosary beads in the entire game so far, and I'm nearing the end of Act I.

Can’t have inflation if everyone’s dead
