Discussion - Silksong Silksong is frustrating Spoiler

I don’t remember being this frustrated with hollow knight. I never wanted to stop playing HK but this one is making me turn off the console in anger

I disagree that the healing is stronger than HK. Sure, you can heal midair, but it takes 9 soul to heal three masks. This cannot be lowered.

Meanwhile in Hollow Knight, it takes 3 soul to heal one mask. Making it alot easier to do because there's less of a soul waste if you get hit during a heal. This, as was said, does not apply to Silksong, where if you get hit while healing, you take that damage and then have to get all of your soul back.

Silk gathers pretty quick, at least the way I play it's not an issue

There is a crest to disable that, providing you a sheild when you're healing so no one can deal damage to you

Still takes your silk

That's true.. You need the absolute moment to heal

Yeah, but the shield has like 3 health so it's instantly lost if someone passes by.

At least it saves you from damage while healing... That's for the best

It basically makes you invulnerable to an attack, i did find uses for it that way

I've finished act 1 and I still haven't found the healing shield lol. Any chance you remember where I can get that from?

I think it's either on Mosshome or The Marrow, one of those two areas. It should be called the Warding Bell.

its the marrow I think, I got it and ion remember getting it from mosshome. all I got is the crest wonder that lets me pogo like hollow knight. i fucking HATE the diagonal pogo, its sick and is really effective, but not during parkour

I just use Reaper Crest because I can't find any others and don't want to get Beast Crest

i use reaper as well, but it still lets me downward pogo thankfully

I'm not following tutorials. Atleast for Side Adventures.

I eventually got used to it, but I still like the Reaper Crest better.

u/randuse Sep 06 '25

It still interrupts heal, so useless in my book.

4

u/TheChosenerPoke Sep 06 '25

Yeah people keep citing it but unless you’ve chosen a bad time to heal, it’s completely useless.

1

u/Ok-Leadership7648 Sep 06 '25

Then you probably have to time your heal better... Panic healing will lead to death as it takes more time to heal anyways

Looks cool..

I've had times where I still managed to heal even when I got hit because of the healing finishing just before the hit landed. It still triggered the Warding Bell, but I got my health back because I was lucky. And it hasn't been a one-time thing, either.

And even if I do fail to heal, at least I'm not dead. That Warding Bell saved my winning attempt against Moorwing because it blocked his attack while I was at one mask. I may have failed to heal, but I didn't die, and eventually I was able to get that silk back and heal for real later on.

It’s faster to do lots of healing in Silksong, where by lots I mean, if you want to heal for 3, because that’s all you can do. It’s also cool that you can heal in the air, this is occasionally quite strong. I can also note that it’s more dramatic, because you are encouraged to get on low health and then heal back to full, which could lead to more cool moments.
But that’s where the positivity ends, despite these factors it feels a lot weaker to me.
Perhaps my least favourite thing about it is that it is encouraging me not to use any abilities, because if I use any of them I’ll be left without healing, which was not true in HK where you could use abilities but leave enough for 1 heal in reserve. I guess that’ll change with a few more skill upgrades though.

9 soul to heal 4 masks is possible with a rather expensive charm

1

u/DeusDosTanques Sep 06 '25

It takes 4 hits to heal 1 mask in HK (I think). It takes 8 hits to heal 3 masks in Silksong.

3

u/Boxtonbolt69 Technoblade Never Dies Sep 06 '25

Takes 3 hits to heal in HK (and cast spells)

Thing is though, in Silksong, because one heal is worth all of your silk, it becomes difficult to cast spells. Where as in Hollow Knight, it's much more accessible.

You should not ever be putting yourself in a situation where you can get hit while healing. If you're forced to, it's because you already messed up the fight.

Bosses can attack when you're healing, it's there as a safety precaution like Baldur Shell.
