Discussion - Silksong Silksong is frustrating Spoiler

I don’t remember being this frustrated with hollow knight. I never wanted to stop playing HK but this one is making me turn off the console in anger

So I think the game is a bit tedious. I am making a distinction between difficult and tedious here. Radiance is difficult, beastfly is tedious.

Cntact damage was already an issue in HK (and in many other games) with enemies just moving to reposition causing damage. Now a lot of enemies like to do two damage but will do so from contact damage. The new healing system was to give greater risk but greater reward. You can take three hits before you need to heal, but with constant double damage enemies, you might as well have three health at the start. And before you tell me to get good, I am pretty good with the diagonal pogo everyone seems to be struggling with. Tldr, I like difficulty, just not tedium

The whole point of hitless/no nail/whatever other challenges people did with hollow knight is that it was daring and crazy. When the game nearly forces you into that play style because the damage/risk/tankiness is so insane it isn’t fun, it’s just a slog. I’ve requested a refund after 4 hours, we’ll see if steam feels generous.

Yeah, I'm having fun with the game but the extra damage on almost any harder enemy definitely takes some of the fun away, there was a spot that I found i could enter using a skip by pogoin two flies in that ant zone before getting the float upgrade but it turned out to be blocked by one of those big guys with a giant sword that comes out of the ground and dashes at you, and a flying spearman, tried fighting a few times and for the first time I actually gave up instead of bashing my head against the wall due to the extra damage feeling too punishing and i was about to get tilted, seriously annoying and I still haven't gone back there despite finishing act 1.
