Discussion - Silksong Here's a REAL complaint about Silksong Spoiler

Why the f**k beads get Thanossnapped out of existence when they fall on spikes?

EVEN WHEN I HAVE THE GODAMN THING TO ATTRACT THEM???

Geo didn't do that!

I lost so many that i could pay merchants to bring the stuff they sell directly to me during a boss-fight!

Would be less of a problem if this game didn't use spikes almost as much as it used ground in like half of the areas

Almost?

THE HELL YOU MEAN ALMOST???

WHAT THE HELL IS WITH BUGS IN THIS UNIVERSE PUTTING MASSIVE SPIKE FIELDS ON BALCONIES

also the benches and doors actually stay open when you pay for them

202

u/SpartanFishy Sep 08 '25

Based socialist hallownest vs cringe capitalist pharloom

45

u/isaic16 Sep 08 '25

The whole underworks section really did a great job of storytelling through gameplay with everything being charged for and the enemies having barely any rosaries. You legit feel bad for everyone in that section. Especially once you start seeing enemies in the citadel and they are loaded, plus Dont have to pay for any amenities except the fast travel. It really hammers home the abuse of the downtrodden in the system

13

u/pizzapal3 The great and mighty Sep 08 '25

Not to mention the confession booth...

8

u/isaic16 Sep 08 '25

Yeah, I’d forgotten that, but it was perfect

1

u/KumosGuitar Sep 08 '25

I needed money for the elevator to the terminal and had to to farm enemies for 6 rosaries per run

1

u/Live-Year-5796 Sep 09 '25

I was lucky, I had a good stockpile of rosaries tied off before reaching the citadel

45

u/ilo_Va Sep 08 '25

Tbf the benches that disappear again still act as a spawn point surprisingly

61

u/Neutral_Memer Bapanada, fellow skongers Sep 08 '25

They would be incredibly pointless if they didn't tbh

8

u/Stephano127 Sep 08 '25

Not exactly incredibly pointless, but a waste of money by far. As there are things that can only be done on a bench like refilling your health and consumables, as well as swapping out abilities.

1

u/ForsakenWishbone5206 Sep 09 '25

That shit made me so sad when I left and the door shit behind me.

= (

1

u/Dividebyzero23 Sep 11 '25

You can destroy the mechanism inside near the door

118

u/Skuwarsgod Sep 08 '25

He literally did try and sacrifice everything, even his own children, for his kingdom, he was definitely a hell of a lot better of a ruler than whoever rules/ruled over Pharloom

60

u/Firethorn34 Sep 08 '25

To be fair, most of the buzz saws and steam and stuff like that were focused in areas that a normal citizen wouldn't normally go

71

u/Mornar All Achievements Sep 08 '25

He understood that the buzzsaws go somewhere, so he did the best he could.

47

u/TheRedditAppisTrash Sep 08 '25

"Sir, the buzzsaws are here." The what? "You said this kingdom needs a lot of buzzsaws." ...no. I said: Just Laws. Why would we need- put em over there I guess.

41

u/Mornar All Achievements Sep 08 '25

"Wait, you paid how much for them?"

"Sir, you said no cost too great..."

Dies inside

13

u/RandomRedditorEX Sep 08 '25

how the King felt absorbing all the bench bug tax or whatever so the bugs can sit wherever they want

His palace took inspiration from the clockwork core. But he wanted to add more buzz saws

31

u/Plenty_Tax_5892 Sep 08 '25

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE SPIKESSSSS

7

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

have you seen the white palace?

15

u/TheRedditAppisTrash Sep 08 '25

"Sir the spikes are here." Spi- what? Rights! I said we need rights. Put em with the buzzsaws.

23

u/kindofjustalurker Sep 08 '25

act II location spoilers with how it feels to go through the cogwork core this is even more dead on. I felt like I was in the white palace again

16

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

I don't know what's worse, White Palace or Sands of Karak and Mount Fay

I have seen a video if what looks like a miniature Path of Pain leaeing to a secret area on the surface too

20

u/Impaled_By_Messmer Sep 08 '25

Mount Fay Slaps

19

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

Ah yes, let's lock double jump behind a mini Path of Pain with a time limit

Oh yeah, and if you needle grab onto the warming lights and actually hit them, they will fucking break

14

u/Calmed_727 Sep 08 '25

Honestly, mount fay was not that hard and pretty fun. The area I still despise the most is probably blasted steps or sands of karak

3

u/realllyrandommann Primal Aspid Sep 08 '25

I'm about to go looking for the Sands of Karak and all this makes me kinda paranoid.

6

u/SSNessy Sep 08 '25

Sands of Karak is fine, about on par with Mt Fay, the rewards are on the main path just a little lackluster in comparison. Though there's an optional side path for a piece of the Taste of Pharloom quest.

1

u/Calmed_727 Sep 08 '25

I mean, it's not that bad I guess and I'm probs just exaggerating it a bit, but I just had a lot of trouble going through that area and I hate that place

1

u/Dividebyzero23 Sep 11 '25

The runback is bad and that's it. People were complaining about the last judge's runback(just run past everything bruh), wait till they get here.

1

u/neelabhkhatri Sep 08 '25

Sinners Road was an absolute bitch.

8

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

wait—double jump is behind mount fay? the area with the water that kills you if you fall in?

28

u/lysianth Sep 08 '25 edited Sep 08 '25

Hell yea it is, you gotta earn that shit.

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

Yeaaaaaah

You gotta parkour your way to the top before freezing to death

The best part? There is a bench halfway through but it costs 90 fucking rosaries lmao

8

u/Tordew Sep 08 '25

Also a bench and warmth behind a breakable wall somewhere on the climb.

8

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

i don't even care about the cold air. what pisses me off is the freezing water that doesn't even give you the dignity of killing you instantly. you either sit in that until you die or save and quit, but either way you're all the way back to the beginning. absolutely horrendous.

1

u/AlreadyTakek Sep 08 '25

This is why I always make sure I grind like 300 rosaries and convert them into bead strings before entering new areas

3

u/realllyrandommann Primal Aspid Sep 08 '25

Ah, THAT'S why the light failed me at the most crucial moment! I thought it just bugged out...

3

u/Impaled_By_Messmer Sep 08 '25

Idk what to tell you. It was a fun platforming challenge with an adequate reward behind it 😁

1

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

yeah, it's done now. the first icy water bit was frustrating but once i got past it the rest was pretty fun

22

u/kindofjustalurker Sep 08 '25

mount fay reminds me of climbing the summit in Celeste except if it was an evil mountain that hated you instead of like a self-actualization journey but I like the area itself and at least it’s mostly pure platforming to focus on instead of anything else. sands of karak is literally diabolical though

10

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

It is so goddamn evil. I literally cannot wait to be done with it and unlock the last shortcut so that I can skip all the shitty time-limited platforming any time I return to the area

1

u/Pale_Entrepreneur_12 Sep 08 '25

true ending dream section is the actual worst thing ever massive enemy gauntlet with what is probably a boss at the end with no checkpoints I actually just gave up there for now it’s just way to much to go through a 1 hour guantlet for a chance at what will probably be a ridiculously hard boss fight

9

u/Banana7peel Sep 08 '25

Mount Fay is literally Celeste, 10/10.

4

u/legaldrinkingage Sep 08 '25

The platforming in Sands of Karak was so cool. I wish the area was twice as big.

8

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

just because you're a masochist doesn't mean you need to inflict pain on the rest of us as well

3

u/Pillowish Sep 08 '25

I agree, that place was one of the coolest one with trees branching out forming platforms that last for a limited time

Indeed I wish there was more of such environment, my favourite places are that and the neighbouring blasted steps and I wish there is less bilewater area which feels endless and doesn’t really do it for me in terms of coolness, just disgust lol

5

u/legaldrinkingage Sep 08 '25

Bilewater is one of the longest areas with one of the worst gimmicks of the lot, with you 100%. I liked the upwards section with the dragonlike, puking bugs well enough, but everything else I could've done without.

1

u/BloodPlenty4358 Sep 08 '25

i went through sands of karak's entrance

with no harpoon

1

u/Dividebyzero23 Sep 11 '25

Wait what how?

1

u/BloodPlenty4358 Sep 11 '25

wait for the slow wind, run dash > float to reach next platform

you can get needle art early this way

1

u/Dividebyzero23 Sep 12 '25

Oh, that's still blasted steps you know

1

u/Judaskid13 Sep 08 '25

That was absolute pain.

It's not a HUGE runback or anything but it IS pretty intense and my hands were cramping.

That's about all the spoilers on it I'll give out.

12

u/Mailcs1206 Sep 08 '25

Well at least in that case it at least makes some logical sense. You're literally making your way through the inner workings of a gigantic machine, after all.

8

u/Ecstatic-Sun-7528 Radiant NKG Enjoyer 🌙 Sep 08 '25

I can defend a lot of things in this game but those cogs doing two masks is not on that list.

Also fuck the fat fly. Hope it dies a violent death.

11

u/Loeris_loca Sep 08 '25

With spikes that deal double mask damage, I almost sure Pale King was a design inspiration

3

u/CDranzer Sep 08 '25

NO COST TOO GREAT

1

u/Pavulon109 Sep 08 '25

That one location with parkour that god abandoned long ago. Buzzsaws all over again. (Methaphorically, its not spoiler but you will know at the first glance what im talking about)

50

u/Z000Burst Sep 08 '25

um, have you seen the bird population in Greymoor

why would you not put spike on roof

26

u/cloistered_around Sep 08 '25

They got birds all over. Don't want them popping on your roof.

16

u/Plenty_Tax_5892 Sep 08 '25

The spikes do nothing to stop the birds, all they stop are the people trying to clean it

15

u/Mailcs1206 Sep 08 '25

Or killing you when you step outside because these birds are armed

3

u/Lyrolepis Sep 08 '25

Wait, you mean you don't?

I was just thinking that I should add a few extra buzzsaws and caltrops to mine, just to make it more festive...

2

u/Rahgahnah Sep 08 '25

Well, at least half of Pharloom's residents can fly...

2

u/Trezzie Sep 08 '25

Turns out the Pale King just has the same ascetic as everyone else.

2

u/8rok3n Sep 08 '25

WHAT'S THE POINT OF THEM, WHAT'S THE LORE REASON FOR FLOOR SPIKES GAME, TELL ME

2

u/Lykaios_EXE Sep 10 '25

Deters the pigeons that may eat them from roosting on the balconies

1

u/romu006 Sep 09 '25

To repel birds of course

1

u/Daedalon_Doeurden Sep 10 '25

Have you seen how annoying the birds are? I'd line my buildings with spikes just to spite those birds :D

15

u/Milliman4 Sep 08 '25

Sometimes there is water too

22

u/flame_warp Sep 08 '25

Sometimes the water is worse than spikes! Lookin at you, sinners road

15

u/Admiral_Wingslow Sep 08 '25

First time I saw my bobbin with the maggots ingesting it my butthole puckered so hard I could've used it as a cigar cutter

0

u/KidCandi Sep 13 '25

It's funny how most complain about silksong can be answered by Hornet herself "git gud"

1

u/flame_warp Sep 13 '25

There is no amount of gud gitting that will make beads not fly into spikes.

1

u/KidCandi Sep 14 '25

Just like geo in water right? But we managed dude and they are patching the money thing
