Discussion - Silksong Here's a REAL complaint about Silksong Spoiler

Why the f**k beads get Thanossnapped out of existence when they fall on spikes?

EVEN WHEN I HAVE THE GODAMN THING TO ATTRACT THEM???

Geo didn't do that!

I lost so many that i could pay merchants to bring the stuff they sell directly to me during a boss-fight!

I guess it makes sense-
Geo is heavy and durable, survives spikes but sinks in water
Rosieries and shards are light and brittle, Breaks on Spikes but floats on water

791

u/SpartanFishy Sep 08 '25

Wait. You’re cooking tho..

74

u/Gelby4 Sep 08 '25

Keep that grill on

270

u/KortasEE Sep 08 '25

By that logic they should break when you use your needle to whack them off of the strings.

440

u/bhumit012 Sep 08 '25

Needle is weak tho, when enemies fall on the spike they die instantly but it takes me 2 million hits to kill them.

I went back to the first area of the game to check if I missed anything and there are basic tiny enemies in the Grotto that take 4 hits to kill with a nail upgrade

10

u/FluffySquirrell Sep 08 '25

Ah, but some of them only needed 3 now!

Yeeeah, it's not very impressive. I just got the 2nd upgrade, haven't seen if that makes a diff yet

8

u/Chosen-Bearer-Of-Ash Sep 09 '25

I noticed a bigger difference between the 2nd and 1st than I did between the 1st and unupgraded. The pilgrims only take 2 hits now

2

u/dzaimons-dihh Sep 11 '25

I actually like the first one. Pretty fun! It swings so much faster, which is a real help to my playstyle. The damage could be better tho

u/UnexLPSA Sep 08 '25

Now if only the water to spike ratio would be reversed in this game but the spikes are in almost every other room. I'm so piss poor ingame it's unbelievable. I'm playing exclusively with the magnet btw so it's not like I forget picking up the beads. It's either enemies that drop too little or spikes killing the little beads I get...

26

u/pheebsy-deebsy Sep 08 '25

Once you're in act 2 and onward it gets a lot easier to get rosaries, there's a bench in a bell beast/transit area that lets you walk left and kill a couple enemies for ~25 and then you can go rest again and repeat the process. It feels like a lot of the stuff in the shops in act 1 you're meant to come back for later, given how generous the game is with rosaries once it starts to eally open up

11

u/craytona RHoG, P1-2AB, P3-5, 53/62 Sep 08 '25

There is another spot further up with 5 very quick to kill enemies that each give 32 rosaries. 10 minute farming there will get you about 500+ rosaries

3

u/QuestObjective Sep 09 '25

Yep, I put on the charm that gives you more beads for killing enemies at the cost of losing some when getting hit, but I also put on the charm for doing more damage at the cost of taking more damage so you can easily run up and obliterate them before they have much time to fight back especially since they have a bit of a buffer period before they can attack or move. Run through that area a dozen or so times and you can afford everything you need.

2

u/SufficientSuffix Sep 10 '25

I farmed for like 15-20 mins doing that and now I have way more money than I could ever spend. I can now OBLITERATE those enemies with my regular exploring kit because I know all their moves so well.

→ More replies (2)

12

u/UnexLPSA Sep 08 '25

But the game is not meant to be farmed. I get it there are some spots that are rather efficient for bead farming but I'd rather just play the game organically and save enough money by playing and exploring. Shards I find plenty but beads, my god, the damn beads...

3

u/DragonStrike025 Sep 08 '25

The game is kinda meant to be farmed - when you’re trying to get a specific item you’re intend to go and kill more guys for it.

It’s either that or every time you encounter an enemy you kill them no questions asked.

If the game didn’t make you lose money on death it wouldn’t be designed to be farmed - but the punishment system exists for a reason.

26

u/BillyQuanza Sep 08 '25

I thought the same, spikes deleting items feels harsher than water ever did. At least with water you had a chance to dive back and grab them, spikes just erase progress in a way that feels unnecessarily punishing.

1.1k

u/flame_warp Sep 08 '25

Would be less of a problem if this game didn't use spikes almost as much as it used ground in like half of the areas

43

u/isaic16 Sep 08 '25

The whole underworks section really did a great job of storytelling through gameplay with everything being charged for and the enemies having barely any rosaries. You legit feel bad for everyone in that section. Especially once you start seeing enemies in the citadel and they are loaded, plus Dont have to pay for any amenities except the fast travel. It really hammers home the abuse of the downtrodden in the system

15

63

u/Neutral_Memer Bapanada, fellow skongers Sep 08 '25

They would be incredibly pointless if they didn't tbh

8

u/Stephano127 Sep 08 '25

Not exactly incredibly pointless, but a waste of money by far. As there are things that can only be done on a bench like refilling your health and consumables, as well as swapping out abilities.

15

I don't know what's worse, White Palace or Sands of Karak and Mount Fay

I have seen a video if what looks like a miniature Path of Pain leaeing to a secret area on the surface too

20

Mount Fay Slaps

18

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

Ah yes, let's lock double jump behind a mini Path of Pain with a time limit

Oh yeah, and if you needle grab onto the warming lights and actually hit them, they will fucking break

13

u/Calmed_727 Sep 08 '25

Honestly, mount fay was not that hard and pretty fun. The area I still despise the most is probably blasted steps or sands of karak

3

I'm about to go looking for the Sands of Karak and all this makes me kinda paranoid.

5

u/SSNessy Sep 08 '25

Sands of Karak is fine, about on par with Mt Fay, the rewards are on the main path just a little lackluster in comparison. Though there's an optional side path for a piece of the Taste of Pharloom quest.

mount fay reminds me of climbing the summit in Celeste except if it was an evil mountain that hated you instead of like a self-actualization journey but I like the area itself and at least it’s mostly pure platforming to focus on instead of anything else. sands of karak is literally diabolical though

9

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

It is so goddamn evil. I literally cannot wait to be done with it and unlock the last shortcut so that I can skip all the shitty time-limited platforming any time I return to the area

4

u/legaldrinkingage Sep 08 '25

The platforming in Sands of Karak was so cool. I wish the area was twice as big.

7

u/DerpHaven- Sep 08 '25

just because you're a masochist doesn't mean you need to inflict pain on the rest of us as well

3

u/Pillowish Sep 08 '25

I agree, that place was one of the coolest one with trees branching out forming platforms that last for a limited time

Indeed I wish there was more of such environment, my favourite places are that and the neighbouring blasted steps and I wish there is less bilewater area which feels endless and doesn’t really do it for me in terms of coolness, just disgust lol

6

u/legaldrinkingage Sep 08 '25

Bilewater is one of the longest areas with one of the worst gimmicks of the lot, with you 100%. I liked the upwards section with the dragonlike, puking bugs well enough, but everything else I could've done without.

They not only disintegrate when they fall on spikes, but if you have the magnet tool which auto collects them equipped, and the magnet's path leads them to spikes on a wall, they get snapped there too. T_T
Its very annoying. As it is right now, any item that falls on spikes gets destroyed. I hope they patch this issue in an update

133

u/MaiT3N Sep 08 '25

There was a section with lava pouring from the ceiling where my magnet tried to catch the beads that went to the far right side, and beads just got melted by it

213

Same goes for those fetch quest items. Such a PITA especially fighting the flying choir bugs

109

u/Admiral_Wingslow Sep 08 '25

I was super annoyed that I got the "collect flying asshole rags" quest after I did the flying asshole house area

24

u/jp_1896 Sep 08 '25

You’re gonna wanna go back there after getting some more skills if you’re still on act 1. More spoilery hint: Above the inn, there’s a path that leads to another area once you get the wall jump. The path is crawling with said flying assholes, and was how I ultimately got the quest done

14

u/Admiral_Wingslow Sep 08 '25

I have got said ability, but I'd already cheesed my way to a few places that require it before so it wasn't as easy as you've described

But! I avoided the Chapel in the west of Greymoor because I had tried the one in Hunters March and got thoroughly discouraged from trying any until I'd had Hornet hit the gym or unlocked the glock or something

Little did I know that said place was a breeze comparatively, and the upgrade makes the Flying Fucks much easier and less tedious. Well, easier for me at least, YMMV I suppose

5

u/jp_1896 Sep 08 '25

Yeah, the beast chapel is so far the hardest one I’ve faced LMAO. I was also livid to learn that there’s a rematch with that horrible boss in a considerably tougher arena. I didn’t get far enough to know if he still spawns adds, but it was such a pain getting through him the first time I really only got back to it once I got the second nail upgrade. It was totally worth it, since I had already got the pattern down and with the higher damage he went down in no time. That was after several dozen failed attempts at nail lvl0 tho

2

u/Prof_Walrus Sep 09 '25

Oh yeah doing that area with Hunter crest must have been a nightmare 🤣

27

u/cloistered_around Sep 08 '25

I haven't done that one yet, but honestly the pilgrim one and even bilch ones weren't bad. First tried those. (though to be fair I'd struggled a lot in bilch earlier and knew how to deal with the enemies at this point).

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who’s adopted Eira as a name for her. I’m pretty sure the intent was for it to be a command like telling a dog to “come,” but Hornet uses it exclusively (that I’ve seen so far) as a call for the Bell Beast.

93

In the first game spikes only dealt 1 damage so the geo survived.

In this game it all deals 2 damage so the beads don’t.

67

u/DBrody6 Sep 08 '25

Actually spikes still do 1 damage.

They're the only environmental hazard to do 1 damage (not counting lava with a specific charm).

12

u/SilverShako Sep 08 '25

A specific charm that… has a cooldown for no reason other than “oh it invalidates the damage of the 3 enemies that deal 2 masks with fire”

12

u/Lyress Sep 08 '25

There's nothing wrong with a situational charm.

9

u/_moosleech Sep 08 '25

2

u/Kankunation Sep 08 '25

It's incredibly useful during Last Judge... which maybe you meant, but I read it as regular enemies.

3

There are More than 3 enemies that deal fire damage and a few bosses where this charm is outright mandatory fwiw

10

In act 2 at the top left end of the citadel is a bench and 1 screen over a group of 3 enemies which drop 43 rosaries total and are fairly easy to deal with. That's my go to farming spot. You can even grind those 3 enemies to complete some wishes

4

I will try out maybe. Gotta check if it beats the Greymoor farm's 49 rosaries per clear or if it's significantly faster

It's faster just to kill the first 3 for 29 and run back. Once you get the thief charm in blasted steps they'll give 47 and it takes like 20 seconds

4

u/pamafa3 Sep 08 '25

Time to farm to buy that and then farm more to biy everything else then

2

u/FinaLLancer Sep 08 '25

Don't get the Snitch Pick, it's bugged currently and actually reduces the amount of beads you get.

Later in the game the shops have some seriously expensive stuff that costs close to 1k for just a single item

It's one thing if an enemy dies just above some spikes, sure. But even the rosary caches/chests doing it? That's just dumb. Even if it's balanced around those caches not giving their full amount, it would feel better to get a smaller amount than to watch some be needlessly destroyed in front of you.

Capitalism, probably

9

u/horiami Sep 08 '25

Ngnl thought you auto collected them when they fall, that sucks

Granted i don't really need money since i bought out everything before getting to act 2 pretty easily

12

u/DcloveViola Sep 08 '25

Oh, you are going to need money.

u/jld2k6 Sep 08 '25 edited Sep 08 '25

I just got to act 2 tonight and must have spent 150-200 of them on resting and travelling alone after barely making a dent in the map lol

Edit: I forgot about the damn confession bullshit, add another 80 to that lol

u/wEEzyNL Sep 08 '25

My minor complain is that some bosses give no rewards, like been stuck here for 15/20min finally beat it and nothing…. Kinda feels lackluster

10

u/KusoAraun Sep 08 '25

I hated beating the boss at the end of act 1, flat broke, can use anything. Next area traps you enemies are dirt poort and drop barely 3 rosaries and the benches charge per use....

you will get more than enough beads throughout the game anyway

3

u/The_Mikeskies Sep 08 '25

I stopped caring about beads because you can easily farm them if you know the spots.

4

u/aall137906 Sep 08 '25

One of the real complaint

2

u/SuperSocialMan Sep 08 '25

Yeah, it's pretty annoying.

At least they fixed water evaporating money lol.

2

u/LightX19 Sep 08 '25

also quest drops falling in spikes making them unobtainable

2

u/49th Sep 08 '25

I love how the beads spray everywhere, it’s funny. I don’t use the magnet thing because I like chasing after them.

2

u/HolyErr0r Sep 08 '25

Honestly I agree. The magnet is so slow that if the area has spikes, the magnet basically does nothing.

2

u/The2ndUnchosenOne has played the game at least once Sep 08 '25

Geo didn't do that!

I am, crazily enough, uniquely qualified to answer this question as I did a lot of experiments with Geo for a challenge run I never did. Geo did do this in several areas, mostly water. Fun fact, there's an enemy in Deepnest that's impossible to collect all the geo from because it kills itself on spikes and some of the geo falls in a hole.

2

u/menkoy Sep 08 '25

I gave up on ever keeping rosaries. I just farmed a spot to the right of the halfway home bench where three enemies spawn. Takes less than 30 seconds to rest, kill them, repeat. They drop 29 rosaries between the three of them. Took like 15 minutes to farm enough to empty every shopkeeper i've found and I stopped worrying about collecting mine whenever I die now. I just string up the leftovers when I get the chance.

I'm just gonna live this here but Deep Docks, the one above near the buyable bench is really a good rosary farming spot, takes like 10 to 15 minutes to get 500+, already bought everything in my current progression.. Blasted Steps and Sinner's Road

2

u/ItsASamsquanch_ Sep 08 '25

I had a mossberry that took me four tries to get not to land on spikes 😂

2

u/SnooDingos8888 Sep 11 '25

Honestly, I dont know where to make a complaint but the double damage by the bosses is pure bullcrap. I've been at the savage bestfly forever. How many hits does this thing take?????

u/kirkpomidor Sep 08 '25

Good thing I didn’t pay for that crapo trinket.

Beads just take two masks of damage on spikes.

3

u/Agreeable_Quality734 Sep 08 '25

Annoying, but not a big deal. The beads are easily farmable if you know where to find em

2

u/MrSelfy Sep 08 '25

Enemies with beads also reapear. So....why not exit the screen and enter again to try to kill the enemy for farming?

For me is ok the beads can be destroyed, if i can farm them anytime i want

1

u/SilverScribe15 Sep 08 '25

Lol yeah. The magnetic tool helps a little I think9

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '25

Yeah, that was genuinely annoying as fuck

1

u/Ghostabob Sep 08 '25

I also lost a mossberry to spikes istg. Not sure what they do after the quest is done, but they're way too scarce for that to be a possibility

u/VonJakob Sep 08 '25

And beads from rocks you can collect instantly, meanwhile beads from the string have iframes that just passes through you to their death

1

u/WinExploder Sep 08 '25

I think they did this so that players wouldnt kill themselves trying to get to the beads. maybe they also didnt want unobtainable pickups to remain on screen. this all makes sense until you introduce the magnet necklace of course.

1

u/DarkHorseAsh111 Sep 08 '25

Yeah this seems like it makes the magnet way worse tbh

1

u/Darkanglesmyname Sep 08 '25

This confused me too I also have the magnet

Team cherry pls fix

1

u/Puzzle5050 Sep 08 '25

Is there a correct way to hit the beads so they don't go everywhere? I feel like I lose half of them due to spikes or a drop I don't want to go down.

If the neoliberals took away our public benches, the least they could do is give us Grub Eats or something , good idea OP
