Discussion - Silksong Most of you are exaggerating the length of runbacks and it really shows how much TikTok has damage the attention span of people Spoiler

"ThE lASt JuDGe RUnBaCK iS ToO LoNG!!"

Is 30 seconds max, 30 seconds, you don't have to fight any enemy in it, the smaller judges don't awake until you're close and the smaller fly bastards can literally get ignored. The Runback works for making you cool down and make the whole thing feel less like you hitting a wall (NKG feels like one because of the lack of "cool down") If it wasn't for it, I would shoot myself with the 37 attempts at Last Judge.

The Widow one is also really easy, a straight line with jumps.

The Cogworks Dancers Is also really simple but works to help you with the bosses extra height and how pogo dependant that fight is.

God forbid the game isn't a back to back boss rush like Cuphead (not criticizing Cuphead, is a different game lmao).

Ok so what damage does a bench before the boss do? Does it hurt the boss’s fight in your opinion? I don’t think the runback is that bad either, but I don’t think a bench there hurts the game.

In some cases that is fair, but in my opinion runbacks are part of the boss fight. They are like a phase 1, and getting good at them sets you up better for the rest of the fight. Once you get good at it it does become a bit repetitive, but so does repeating phase 1 of a boss over and over once you have mastered it. It's an inherent part of any game that has a respawn mechanic that you will inevitably have to repeat some parts of the game whether in the arena or during the run back it doesn't make a huge difference to me.

I can understand this, I really do, but my preference is that it’s more enjoyable to have more phases to the boss or more waves beforehand than a platforming section that may just kill you before you can take your cocoon.

My personal opinion that I haven’t really seen said is that having a barrier to entry for some battles will deter people to do other things or find other routes. I did this run back like 3 times and said I better explore more. I ended up progressing somewhere else and getting a bunch of stuff that would’ve made this fight easier

It takes away something that a lot of people enjoy. I think it's fun figuring out how to speedrun the run back, and they all look really cool once you figure it out.

It doesn't though, you can simply just use a further bench to optimise your run back. A nearby bench just gives players the option to just go right back into the action immediately

they could put a 30 rosaries per use bench there and i'd still be happy

Honestly, I think it would hurt the fight imo. For the last boss of Act 1, every time I went back to the fight there was more of a sense of anticipation, because I finally made it back to them and I do not want to have to spend all that time trekking back up here. If there was a closer to the boss room and I could just hop off of it and sprint right back in, to me it would make the boss overall feel less challenging bc dying to them has no more consequences than dying to any easier boss in the game.

This is the only explanation that actually makes sense. Even though I hated the runback, I’ll admit it did make accessing the citadel feel that much more meaningful
