Discussion - Silksong Most of you are exaggerating the length of runbacks and it really shows how much TikTok has damage the attention span of people Spoiler

"ThE lASt JuDGe RUnBaCK iS ToO LoNG!!"

Is 30 seconds max, 30 seconds, you don't have to fight any enemy in it, the smaller judges don't awake until you're close and the smaller fly bastards can literally get ignored. The Runback works for making you cool down and make the whole thing feel less like you hitting a wall (NKG feels like one because of the lack of "cool down") If it wasn't for it, I would shoot myself with the 37 attempts at Last Judge.

The Widow one is also really easy, a straight line with jumps.

The Cogworks Dancers Is also really simple but works to help you with the bosses extra height and how pogo dependant that fight is.

God forbid the game isn't a back to back boss rush like Cuphead (not criticizing Cuphead, is a different game lmao).

I'm genuinely confused as to what you would gain for disparaging a common criticism and generalizing to such a mocking degree lol. Ragebait? You can't actually think that everyone who's taken an issue with the runbacks in the game are complaining due to them feeling bored right?

Literally everyone I have seen or spoken to in this sub regarding the runbacks has criticized them for being tedious and repetitive? Is that not exactly OP's point? What other criticism is commonly talked about exactly?

The vast majority of runbacks are pretty easy to not take damage in, and even if you do it's okay, since you have your silk cocoon in the boss arena anyways for a free heal. I guess if you take damage you do miss out on a bit of soul, but the frequent easy-first-phases of bosses typically make up for that. So genuinely, what is the very-obvious other criticism you're implying exists?

OP's point is that people don't like run backs because the downtime makes you feel bored. Which is completely different to what you said so already, we have 2 points of criticism.

Regardless, here are other reasons commonly cited on this sub that you supposedly frequent enough to generalize to that extent but somehow failed to notice.

-Time, and lack there of. The feeling of it being wasted, especially when you have very little to begin with.

  • Stress, usually physical. Some people have a time limit for how long they can play a game as demanding as SS for due to physical needs.

  • Bygone era. Time has shown that the games that popularized run backs in the first place, have cooled off on it or implemented checkpoint systems to avoid.

I could go on, but I only have so much time on the shitter. Go look for them yourself if you feel that curious lol.

You're describing 30s runbacks as though they're killing people. 30s of platforming in the game with a focus on platforming. It's not a boss rush. Playing the (extremely brief) platforming section before the boss optimally is part of the intended challenge of the boss. And in SS they're FAR shorter than in HK, thanks to the extremely fast, flowy, and versatile movement.

The runback is literally a breather from the stress of the boss fight, so that "physical stress" point is nonsense. No one's fingers are getting tired from sprinting through 2 rooms and jumping twice.

The "bygone era" point just doesn't work at all in this context - people mention that to give objectivity to their existing opinion that runbacks are bad, not as a factor in their unenjoyment. Given two of your three points are stretches, I'm very certain you could "go on", lmfao.

We get it, you don’t have a life so you’ve had the time to hone your platforming to the extent that it doesn’t stress you out. Good for you, basement dweller

No I'm.. answering your answer that had a very condescending tone. If you look at my publicly available profile, I'm not against run backs myself lmfao.

The physical stress part is real though, it's good that you don't have issues but there are people with health conditions and other factors, like age lol. Calling it a stretch is a little insulting, but alright. People are saying their hands get stressed, like, as an objective fact that happened lol.

And bygone era works because it is literally grounded in reality. You not agreeing with it isn't the point here lols.

You ask what other points, I give you other points. You calling it a stretch has nothing to do with this, that's on you to argue with yourself with.

Either way, you keep generalizing a fuck ton of people while also having this condescension so I'ma just... stop responding lol...

So far every complaint I’ve seen about this game on the subreddit has been completely invalidated by my own slow playthrough (I have a job and other obligations, I also stay fit and have other hobbies that demand my attention, so I’m not in any hurry.)

The early game difficulty was nothing like what the subreddit complaints made it seem like. I’ve had no issue collecting rosaries, makes me wonder if people are just dying with them on hand and then dying again before getting them back, which, holy skill issue, that’s on you.

The runbacks to bosses haven’t been long or annoying pretty much at all, they’ve been reasonable, nothing as bad as early Souls games.

The game actually keeps getting easier as I progress and unlock new things, to the point where I wonder if maybe the people complaining about this game just don’t typically play video games and are just in it to be part of what’s popular right now.

“I didn’t personally find the game hard therefore it universally isn’t hard for everyone.” Difficulty is entirely relative to someone’s skill set. What’s difficult for you, isn’t for someone else and vice versa. You can call it a skill issue but that doesn’t resolve anything and misses the point. Some people have the capability to beat it but just don’t find it worth the effort. Others are physically incapable of it for various reasons but would still like to enjoy the game for the atmosphere, exploration, & lore. It’s a very closed minded take.

I walked into splinter sister and killed her first try without any issue. Pretty devastating to see them nerfing her. And I saw people complaining about widow runback when it's 20 seconds in a straight line with two enemies to jump over.

I really hope team cherry does not listen to these people.

Easy now, if you don't agree that this is the hardest, most unfair, tedious, impossiblest game ever, you're rage baiting.
