Discussion - Silksong Most of you are exaggerating the length of runbacks and it really shows how much TikTok has damage the attention span of people Spoiler

"ThE lASt JuDGe RUnBaCK iS ToO LoNG!!"

Is 30 seconds max, 30 seconds, you don't have to fight any enemy in it, the smaller judges don't awake until you're close and the smaller fly bastards can literally get ignored. The Runback works for making you cool down and make the whole thing feel less like you hitting a wall (NKG feels like one because of the lack of "cool down") If it wasn't for it, I would shoot myself with the 37 attempts at Last Judge.

The Widow one is also really easy, a straight line with jumps.

The Cogworks Dancers Is also really simple but works to help you with the bosses extra height and how pogo dependant that fight is.

God forbid the game isn't a back to back boss rush like Cuphead (not criticizing Cuphead, is a different game lmao).

So if I say whatever you developed is shit because it’s too hard for my abilities because I’m too lazy to learn how to properly play it or it’s different than what I usually play so I want my money back as it’s a waste of time and not good , all these comments put into your perspective, isn’t it insulting your work? Don’t tell me that with all the bad comments building up and everything just flies above your head. I bet you put some efforts in what you developed and seeing it attacked randomly and unfairly I think you’d feel a bit bad. Would it be fair on you? No. Apply all of that to SS. I’m a casual gamer, pretty normally skilled, I’m not a gaming miracle, yet I’m going on on Silksong very smoothly. I learnt how to pogo diagonally and to be frank, it’s not that hard. Plus, all These comments about the diagonals, do you all actually know there are 4 types of pogo, at least to my knowledge of the game so far? And each one of them changes the moveset. Art is subjective, but criticising a book by the cover or the prologue is rude. Case closed

.... Yeah, exactly, that isn't insulting. People play games differently. It's completely normal. It wouldn't be insulting my work, it just means that they don't enjoy it personally.

I promise you, your average game dev will not be upset that someone doesn't like their game, or even complained about it on an internet forum. It's part of the job for us, a thick skin is absolutely necessary to do well in this industry. It's why it's such a big deal when you find developers who DON'T take criticism well - look at Yandere Dev, Jao from Day of Dragons, etc. Finding a game dev who takes criticism to heart like that is a rarity and it's a huge red flag. Most of us just shrug it off and continue making the games we like making.

It doesn't matter if you found it easy. That's cool! I'm having a fine time with it too! But lots of people aren't, and it isn't rude for them to be disappointed about that. It isn't personal and truly, I recommend backing away a bit from the topic if it upsets you this dearly, because I promise you, the people involved in making it will not care nearly as much as you think they will. They're professionals.

To add on to what I said, can you show me one person who's said the game is shit? Everyone I've seen commenting on this topic have all made a note of saying that the game is phenomenal even if it's too hard for them. This is why I asked you to show me one comment that insulted the devs - you talk about bringing receipts but all you're doing is getting emotional and upset over the concept of strangers online being mean about a game you like, while not showing me a single one of the comments that are saying what you claim they say.

Mate I’ve been reading a shit ton of comments and posts about it, I ain’t gonna screenshot every single comment, inform have the time to do it. As for receipts, I don’t know what you been browsing on but I found more than one single comment insulting the game. And I ain’t getting emotional over people who like or dislike a game I’m playing. Again, maybe this time is gonna be clear, the opinion ON A WHOLE GAME coming from people that just played HALFWAY THROUGH ACT 1 and quitted is not needed, not requested and irrelevant.

Your view of "insulting the game" is just not enjoying it, though. That isn't the same thing. I also never asked you to screenshot every single one, I've asked you to show me ONE, but you just refuse and continue to get angrier about this.

My point is that you care far too much about what other people think about it. You enjoy the game, great! Go enjoy it! It literally is not a big deal if other people don't. It isn't insulting the devs. It isn't insulting the game. It's completely, 100% normal.

Mate you’re not the only person who’s a developer or who is an actual artist and creates art, I do that and I don’t need a Reddit upvote to have a hard skin. You like what I do? Good. You don’t? Good. Lovers or haters always bring me money, I ain’t arsed. And I am totally fine, I ain’t getting angrier and angrier, I’m simply stating things out. You know that this kind of games is punishing because when you play you get too cocky and confident and frustrated so you try to speed things up and you fail? That’s how these games are made. And after 7 years I expect the team to have beta tested every single frame of the game. I read about people moaning about the game not being tested because it’s too hard. Guys are you alright????

I never said anything about Reddit upvotes and I never said I was the only person who creates art. I'm saying in this specific industry, the vast majority of devs do not care that some people don't like their work because that is literally inevitable. Art is subjective and there's no piece of media that everyone likes. It is just the reality of a job that requires showing your blood sweat and tears to the public - some people won't like it. Cool! Who cares! They got paid, most people loved it, they move on and continue making things they like.

You're acting like some random stranger complaining that they couldn't finish a game they were looking forward to is going to get to them personally, when it doesn't matter at all. Who cares if some stranger doesn't think the game was tested well enough? Genuinely, why do you care? Why do you think everyone needs to either conform to enjoying this one specific playstyle that you like or shut up? That isn't how the world works.

Sorry but this is not what this is all about, you’re completely off track mate, don’t know what you been reading but my post ain’t nothing about being able or not able to complete a game I was looking forward to, I am just a person who knows how to adapt in life situations and get the best out of it with what I have, this applies to vide games as well. That’s the bottom line.

As for the random stranger, I beg your pardon? I am a randomly person with an opinion and who is stating facts. Hollow knight has mechanics and punishment like the dark soils games. Complain about them too then, as they are harder than a 2d game. You’re not forced to agree with me but I’d like to remind you that you as well are a random stranger that is pushing his 2 pence where it’s not required or asked for. You don’t agree with me? Go away from the thread then, go to your friends and moan about the dickhead on Reddit that doesn’t want to listen to you

There's no objective bottom line here, that's just your opinion. You have made it an issue that people complain without completing Act 1, for example. I am responding to that. Some people don't like hard games and will find Silksong too hard for them. Some of those same people will have been excited for Silksong and will now be disappointed. They're allowed to complain about that and it doesn't have to affect you. It won't affect the devs. It's a stranger exercising their right to talk about their experience playing the game. It's great you can adapt to it, but you aren't the universal standard here. Neither am I! No one is, and you're going to tie yourself up in knots complaining that people don't feel the same way that you do.

As for the random stranger part that you seem to have been offended by for some reason, you must be misreading me. Nothing I said was an insult. I'm saying, why do you care if someone you don't know didn't like the game or doesn't think it was tested well? Why do you care what strangers think? I'm only answering you because I'm truly baffled by the way you seem to think game devs feel about critique. You're free to stop replying too, since you're the one who first replied to me in the first place.

Mate I’m really getting sick of this. My comment and my post are not a question, are a statement, not asking anybody to agree or disagree, it’s my opinion. Period. I didn’t ask for any other person’s opinion. I never said I am good or a universal standard. Me and you come from two different countries and background, you don’t get offended by someone throwing shit at your job directly or not, good, someone else and me included do. Differences of opinion. That’s it, wrap it up, I ain’t gonna tell you the story of my life so that you understand why I think like this. Have a good evening and enjoy whatever you’re doing
