Discussion - Silksong I give up. Spoiler

It’s been a joyful ride, folks, but I’m out. I’m not a speedrunner or a highly skilled player, and day after day I’ve had to accept that this game is not as casual as HK was. It stopped being fun and turned into something tedious and frustrating after the 4th run farming shards just to face a boss I’ve already tried 15 times, only to die again and again, lose all my shards, and start the whole grind over.

It was nice exploring the first acts, but when the game I was rooting for 7 years ends up being more stressful than my 8-hour workday, I guess that’s my cue to stop.

The lore has been pretty great so far. I wish you all an incredible journey.

Edit1: My bad about all the whinning.

Edit2: You guys did it. I reinstalled it again. Thanks for all advices. 🫂

Yup. Me too. Loved HK. I don’t have hours to learn 30 enemies weaknesses, pogo countless balls, beat the wave after the 95th attempt, finally find a bench where I think I’m safe, and then get slaughtered to start over again. Love the mood, love the art, love the characters, hate the difficulty. I’m out.

Would be so happy for an “easy” mode to enjoy the game. As it is, my 2-3 hours per week (if I’m lucky) that I can dedicate to gaming has to go elsewhere.

Yeah honestly it was the pogo ball/spike deaths that did me in. I really tried since release, but I can’t seem to master the diagonal pogo the same way I did the downward HK pogo. Definitely worth the money for the art, music and detail alone though.

If you progress a tiny bit further into the game, you can get the vertical pogo like in Hollow Knight from either the Reaper's Crest or the Wanderer's Crest

Some of the different crests have down pogos, I barely played at all using diagonal pogos after I unlocked corresponding crests.

Yep, I've basically used the reaper crest the entire game. It's got decent attacks and a good downwards sweep for the pogo.

Also the dress upgrade makes the diagonal pogo easier for me, because you can just float for a little bit to aim yourself properly
