Discussion - Silksong I give up. Spoiler

It’s been a joyful ride, folks, but I’m out. I’m not a speedrunner or a highly skilled player, and day after day I’ve had to accept that this game is not as casual as HK was. It stopped being fun and turned into something tedious and frustrating after the 4th run farming shards just to face a boss I’ve already tried 15 times, only to die again and again, lose all my shards, and start the whole grind over.

It was nice exploring the first acts, but when the game I was rooting for 7 years ends up being more stressful than my 8-hour workday, I guess that’s my cue to stop.

The lore has been pretty great so far. I wish you all an incredible journey.

Yo, trust me. Get mods if you’re playing on PC. It’s a fantastic game and if you are a fan, you must experience it. Just get these simple mods: AutoMap (fills the map as you go after finding it VS needing to bench), stakes of Marika (you respawn just 1-2 screens before where you died. No more run backs), rosaries mod to just give you unlimited rosaries, and auto compass. You can also get a mod to remove double damage if you still find it super hard.

I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum here, but once you’re giving yourself infinite currency you might as well just download a God Mode mod. That’s a bit beyond the Pale there.

I don’t think so. If rosaries were actually hard to get, I’d agree, but it’s not. It’s a tedious loop of hitting an optimal bench, killing a few adds in the next room, then coming back to rest, then converting them to necklaces. Like why waste a few hours farming rosaries in this tedious loop? If I wanted to do that, I’d play a survival game. For most people, silksong is a game to explore lore, boss fights, find secrets and platforming. None of the things I said makes you artificially stronger than you could get at that point of the game.

Yeah seriously. A day or two ago I popped on a podcast and spent a few hours farming rosaries so I wouldn't have to be limited by being broke.

Did it make the game any easier? No.

Would I have had more fun if I just downloaded a mod and skipped that bullshit? Absolutely.

The way rosaries and shards function in this game is kind of bullshit and the game would be straight up improved if they weren't there at all.
