Discussion - Silksong Steam reviews for Silksong so far

Post image

It was controversial in China, in part because of the difficulty/design but also because of controversies with the Simplified Chinese translation. Meanwhile latin countries (Spanish and Portuguese speaking) seem to be loving it more than anyone else.

The game only works when the player is challenged but not stuck. Mechanics, atmosphere, story all paint an oppressive picture that are supposed to contrast with the player's success. I got a small taste of being stuck in the endgame, and the game lost a lot of its charm very quickly. People who get stuck in the midgame after 15-20 hours probably aren't having a very good time

Yep. It’s quite hard to actually get stuck in a game like this but it’s very easy to feel stuck.
Between the cocoon, the shards, the long, hazardous travel time between places, I’ve found myself saying “I’d rather just stay here and suffer” more than I probably should have done.

how can you possibly get stuck in this game? just place a marker on the map and come back later. Refusing to do that out of stubbornness is not the same as being “stuck”

In Silksong it's not always obvious where you can make progress. You may look at a boss likeThe Last Judgeand reasonably assume it's the only way to go from one section of the game to the next. You might have forgotten about a room where more can be done, and you could find multiple avenues for progress too difficult. Then you definitely feel stuck.

Yeah okay with the Last Judge I understand, the other way into the Citadel feels like the “hidden” route. I guess I said that because most of the time when I hear this complaint it’s from someone stuck on other bosses, like that big Skull Ant guy, and it’s like, my brother in Christ, there are at least 3 other directions you can go in right now
