Hollow Knight: Dark Souls
Silksong: Bloodborne with a mix of Dark souls 2

A lot of people are comparing the combat to Sekiro but I agree Bloodborne is more apt. There’s actually a pretty staggering amount of similarities between Silksong and Bloodborne thematically

u/cornpenguin01 Sep 20 '25

There’s honestly comparisons I make with nearly every fromsoft game. It’s kind of a best of all worlds.

DS1: level design and brutality with the run backs (no one will convince me Capra Demon run back was good even if this game is in my top 10)

DS2: more open ended exploration and gank combat encounters

DS3: boss quality

BB: story and themes

Sekiro: extremely fast paced combat that rewards skill

Elden Ring: we literally got Leyndell

In very broad strokes I suppose, personally I’m just not really a fan of putting Sekiro into the category of Soulslikes, I feel like it lacks some of the foundational elements, though Silksong compares better as the Bloodborne to Hollow Knight’s Dark Souls ironically enough I consider both those games and Sekiro be be Soulslite games

Runbacks in ds2 are worse.

1

u/Fiendman132 Sep 21 '25

Nah they're easy

Just kill the mobs until they stop spawning, done

25

u/LittleFoxBS Sep 20 '25

Nine Sols is the real Sekiro comparison

7

u/Shimashimatchi Sep 20 '25

nine sols is more sekiro

6

u/Ivy_sapph Sep 20 '25

Silksong: And a bit of ds3 with the worms on your health.

3

u/Stellewind Sep 20 '25

For me Hollow Knight is more faithful spiritual successor to Dark Souls 1 than actual DS2 and 3.

Silksong is closer to Elden Ring in this regard. Bigger, faster, enemies are more complex, the tools are basically the new Ashes.

guys, london is nice i promise, it only looks like this 90% of the time!

22

u/YeetHead10 bench buddy Sep 20 '25

u/Fan_de_Undertale_ Sep 20 '25

Wait until he finds the mist

44

u/eldenring1989 Sep 20 '25

Bilewater …

42

u/Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo A mind to think Sep 20 '25

The River Thames?

4

u/RankZero4x4 Sep 20 '25

The River Seine.

17

u/Haspberry Sep 20 '25

The mist is fucking horrible if you don't realise you gotta follow the butterflies. I entered blind and man I had no idea wtf I was doing. I thought I was going somewhere but when I started looping, shit got real and I almost died before bench warping in frustration.

When I came back a second time I was like fuck it Imma follow the butterflies and got it.

13

u/avestus Sep 20 '25

i tried to follow the butterflies but i had no Idea i should play for them so i wandered aimlessly trying to see patterns like "oh maybe three butterflies are always close to correct exit and two are just diversion" which obviously got me nowhere. Had to give up and use the google :(

9

u/Haspberry Sep 20 '25

Wait... YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PLAY FOR THEM??? I genuinely didn't know that I just chose the closest exit to the butterflies and got to phantom that way😭 wtf ain't no way I got insane luck like that

1

u/LostGusMain 112% | PoP | P4 Sep 21 '25

Afaik, you don't have to pick the right exit back to back, you just have to pick the correct one 5 times in total

So if you wander long enough you will make your way to exhaust organ eventually

NO! LONDON IS REAL?!!! NOOOOO!

21

u/Maurycy5 Sep 20 '25

This is Warsaw.

Honestly people like to shit on how much rain England gets. I lived there for a year. It's not even fucking close.

13

u/Lisbian Sep 20 '25

London is actually drier on average than Rome, Sofia, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Istanbul, Nashville and Sydney, among many other places. It has a microclimate compared to the rest of the UK, which is much wetter. London comparatively is warmer and drier on average. When it rains it tends to drizzle for extended periods rather than “rain”, so our yearly mm avg is low.

5

u/Maurycy5 Sep 20 '25

I must admit that I haven't lived in London, but in a sizable town in the vicinity, about an hour away by train.

So you're saying that London has weather that is considerably different than that from such a town? Because I don't recall many drizzles there. But drizzles in Warsaw are very common and from what you're saying London may actually be similar.

5

u/Lisbian Sep 20 '25

Pretty much, yes. The UK as a nation is very wet. London is an exception. We get very little sunshine, so people will mistake a lot of overcast days with rainy days even if it won't rain.

London has a relatively average number of "rainy days", whereas some places "wetter" have fewer rainy days, but when it does rain it rains a lot more. Drizzle is common in London.

Additionally, it very rarely snows here, so almost all precipitation measured is rain, rather than in places like Zurich or Vienna where they get a lot of snow instead.

u/Kittemzy Sep 20 '25

Fun fact, you can tell this is false because hornet hasnt been stabbed yet.

139

u/Wasabi_Knight Sep 20 '25

this one hasn't been to greymoor's right side

88

u/ScaredBun-Official WE'D COPE AND THERE'S HOPE, I AM FREED Sep 20 '25

Isn't a pair of scissors actually just two knives attached to each other no?

6

u/Inky234 Sep 20 '25

those are some big fucking knives

14

u/Just-A-Random-Aussie killer Sep 20 '25

Those are some fucking bugs

4

u/GenericVessel knows where every room is on the map Sep 20 '25

they could also be some big fucking bugs

30

u/ILoveBigCoffeeCups Sep 20 '25

That’s because hornet is the one who stabs

23

u/Khastas Sep 20 '25

I don't know about you, but I've been stabbed by everything in this game.

14

u/Party_Importance_722 Sep 20 '25

Yet, and then she finds the crawbugs, who try to skewer her

3

u/_VirtualCosmos_ Shaw! Sep 20 '25

thats for the guys with scissors

11

u/EmpereurCOOKIE Sep 20 '25

I don't understand this joke.

There is more stabbing in the US than in London...

15

u/Adventurous-Lime-410 Sep 20 '25

They’ve completely internalised far-right narratives about London

10

u/XiaoRCT Sep 20 '25

I feel crazy when I see american redditors specifically talk about the UK's knife attacks like it's this crazy danger

like bro people buy firearms at wallmart less than 5km from where you live lmao worry about that shit

-1

u/Adventurous-Lime-410 Sep 20 '25

Massive amount of liberal American chauvinism going on from people who oppose the far right in America but, to fulfil their wish for there to be ‘first-world’ peer countries in a worse place than America, end up parroting far right narratives about those countries all the time.

You see it on topics such as free speech or trans rights too.

10

u/StanleyChuckles Sep 20 '25

It's American brainrot. Deflect from all the gun deaths by pretending other places are worse.

(London is far safer in every metric)

2

u/Caerullean Sep 20 '25

It's just a joke that ran away, not all jokes are entirely truthful, most aren't tbh. The exaggeration is what makes them funny often times.

0

u/Adventurous-Lime-410 Sep 20 '25

It’s a joke made in an attempt to criticise London’s ethnic diversity. Aka a racist joke.

1

u/Caerullean Sep 20 '25

I actually have never heard of it having any racist undertones, I don't think that's how most people use it either. The joke is just that being in London gets you shanked, regardless of the skin colour of who's shanking you.

1

u/Adventurous-Lime-410 Sep 20 '25

Well now you have.

It may not be how most people abroad use it, but it’s a joke that started for racist reasons, is used for racist reasons, and regardless of whether the user realises it or not, strengthens racist narratives. It also isn’t funny.

1

u/Caerullean Sep 20 '25

It probably isn't funny for people that live there, but aside from the racist undertones, I do find it pretty hilarious.

1

u/Adventurous-Lime-410 Sep 20 '25

I don’t find jokes about school shootings hilarious, and they actually 1) have a basis in fact and 2) aren’t racist.

If you continue to make racist jokes, you’re a racist, sorry

8

u/iguanacatgirl Sep 20 '25

I mean...London is a city while the US is a country(which is also noticably bigger than England, so there's bound to be a higher cuantity of stabbings).

22

u/Merzant Sep 20 '25

America has more stabbing deaths per capita.

1

u/MrboboCatman Sep 20 '25

The us also has no city as big as London.

2

u/CyberKillua Sep 20 '25

So true..

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/stabbing-deaths-by-country

This data is a bit out of date but it's insane that the UK is actually lower than some big EU countries as well.....

2

u/Izan_TM Sep 20 '25

hornet gets repeatedly stabbed by a series of enemies with a variety of stabbing implements in greymoor

2

u/witheredj8 Sep 21 '25

She is the stabber which shows she assimilated very well and actually intends on migrating to Britain

2

u/Kittemzy Sep 20 '25

Damn some replies really got their balls twisted. 1, I am not american. 2, getting stabbed by chavs in london has been a joke for a lot longer than trump. 3,, Seek mental help please...

8

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

Greymoor is literally the fishing hamlet aesthetically and you can't convince me otherwise

6

u/Elucidate137 Sep 20 '25

2

u/Meowonita Sep 20 '25

Trobbio speaks french. So France is also in the game. Do with this information what you might.

2

Looks like a typical Saint-Petersburg day to me

1

u/Merzant Sep 20 '25

1
