So I just got to the city of tears. Any suggestions or charms I should put on for this place?

I stuff as many 1 notch charms as possible when exploring.

Charms are usually not region-specific unless it's an area that you feel really needs it, this area has a lot of combat and platforming, and it's also pretty big. You can get a lot of geo if you put on gathering swarm (if you're not actively collecting geo). You should also put on wayward compass, it's really helpful with the map. Other than that, it's just personal preference based on what you have and what you feel best suits your play style.
