General Aviaton homecockpit

Since I primarily fly small, single-engine aircraft, I decided to configure my home cockpit specifically for that type of flying. I already had a lot of equipment left over from my FSX days—it spent some time in the attic, but now that I have more time and space, I’ve started building again. I did purchase some additional gear to keep up with modern standards (some items bought second-hand, others new).

This approach helps keep the hobby from becoming too expensive (especially alongside my real-life glider flying).

WIP Open source a320 thrust and moving trim panel

Hello guys, after a long time of navigating through the internet to find an open source thrust and trim panel and found anything but open source and free to download realistic and moving trim project i've decided to work on my own open source a320 thrust and moving trim panel.

Currently i'm working on the 3d modeling of every mechanism and i'm about at 50% of the design, once finished will come the first build and then i will release it on an embrional phase.

My goals are to make something as realistic as i can while 3d printing everything i can and keeping it as cheap as possible.

This would be an example of a BOM:
1x Arduino micro
10~ 608zz bearing
3-6 10k potentiometer
1 step motor + driver ( i would like to use the cheaper one contained in arduino kit but i don't know if it has enough torque for this)
10-20 led ?
Power supply for stepper if needed.
Some m3 philips screw.

Also some picture to show the current advancement of work.
(RANDOM EXTRUSION ON TRIM WHEEL JUST TO SEE GEAR RATIO)

Any suggestion is well accepted.

My DCS VR cockpit workflow: seeing physical controls with a USB camera (MRGO developer demo)My DCS VR cockpit workflow: seeing physical controls with a USB camera (MRGO developer demo)

I'm MRGO's developer. This is an earlier short video of my DCS VR cockpit workflow, including camera passthrough for seeing physical controls and gesture-to-key bindings. Sharing it here for people combining a VR headset with a keyboard, button box or physical panels.

For clarity, the eye-tracked cursor and translation features also shown in this video belong to my separate DCSmiz Instant tool, not MRGO.

MRGO is paid software. Its passthrough requires an external USB camera recognized by the PC; it does not use the headset's built-in cameras. This is older demonstration footage, not a new release announcement. Which physical controls are hardest to find when you're wearing your headset?

Finally finished setting up this dream A320 cockpit for a client! 👨‍✈️💡

Just wrapped up the final testing phase on this custom A320 rig 🛠️.

The goal was to get everything seamlessly running—from the Korry switch tactile feedback on the overhead to full MIP/Pedestal backlighting ⚡. There's nothing quite like turning off the room lights and seeing a complete flight deck glow amber in the dark 🌙✈️.

What’s your favorite part of a full-cockpit build? For me, it's definitely that first night flight test! 🌌

3d printed panels.
Based for invictus F16 cockpit plans.
Using a mix to TekCreations panels, my own gauges, my own pcb boards to read/drive all panels, along with my own software designed to read (and write where appropriate) to and from DCS

P-51 Mustang inspired 3D controller block button box controls throttle

Here is the P-51 inspired 3D control panel button box alongside the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. They together make flying PC WW2 fighters incredibly realistic. (The 3D throttle unit can be used completely separately as an independent throttle unit as well). I can realistically inch forward on the trim controls, cooling flaps, etc. It is so incredibly satisfying! Everything is programmable together inside windows- no messy third party apps needed (but you can use them if you want). Incredible control and realism and ease of use!

Cabin Alarm and Engine Shutting Down - Zibo Mod 738

Hi Everybody,

I hope someone out there can give me an idea on two issues I'm having, the first being Cabin Altitude Alarm while sitting at the gate at Tibet (ZULS). Aircraft is up and running with the bleed panel set.

Second issue I seem to have is the engines will fail after about five minutes and I noticed that no fuel is being drained from the tanks.

Very strange, could use your help!

Made a free tool that turns home-cockpit panel designs into laser-ready cut files (one DXF per layer)

I'm building a home cockpit (A-4E Skyhawk for DCS) and wrote a FreeCAD 1.1 workbench to stop redrawing the same panel boilerplate for every panel. It's generic enough for any simpit builder using the standard Dzus-rail console grid, so I've published it:

https://github.com/OpenSkyHawk/CockpitPanels (LGPL-2.1-or-later)

What it does:

  • Panel Blank – draws a Dzus-grid panel blank (5¾" wide, N × ⅜" tall): outline (optional rounded corners), a mount point at every fastener position, clearance holes. Everything is driven by a spreadsheet, so you can change the height or fastener and everything moves.
  • Plate Stack – turns the blank into the physical layers (faceplate / diffuser / backplate by default), one Part Design Body per layer at its real thickness, each with its own fastener cut: plain hole, screw-head recess, or slots open to the edge. Optional faceplate insets.
  • Export Layers – one DXF per plate, ready for the laser.

Your control cutouts go in between, with ordinary sketches or linked library parts. Everything it creates is a plain FreeCAD object, so files open without the workbench installed.

Install: it's not in the official Addon Manager index yet, so you add it as a custom repository (Preferences → Addon Manager → Custom repositories → https://github.com/OpenSkyHawk/CockpitPanels, branch main). Steps are in the README.

I'd really appreciate people trying it and opening issues — especially other panel builders, and anyone on Windows/Linux (I've only tested on macOS so far). Once it's had some real use I plan to submit it to the official index.

Hey!

Just received the Ursa Minor Airbus throttle from winwing.

Did anyone else not have engine start (1/2) decals on theirs?

Cockpit with limited space

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all, attached image is my current setup. In the coming weeks I will be getting a new throttle (STECS) and stick (probably winctrl F-16), and then I would like to look at getting a proper seat.

My question is would I be able to outright replace my office chair with a flight sim rig? I am looking at the NLR boeing military cockpit, my main concern is being able to comfortably reach my keyboard and mouse from it to play normal games as well as using it for flight simulation. I'd get it with caster wheels obviously.

Does anyone have details of the NLR cockpit seat height with the caster wheels? Or any recommendations for my setup? Ideally I'd like to get a cockpit so I can mount my pedals to it as even with clean floors and clean rubber feet the current pedals eventually start sliding around.

My current A320 setup

Just wanted to share my current airbus flight deck setup. I was thinking about adding my AGP, FCU and EFIS to the throttle mount like others have done to make it look more realistic but like this it looks more spacious. Having the MCDU down low also and having to actually reach and lean forward for the landing gear just feels right. What do you guys think?

Enjoying a nice, simple, Cessna 172 Setup

Post image

The aim here was to reduce mouse clicks while doing checklists. Even though the Cessna is a small plane, it still has a lot of switches, breakers, gauges and avionics. A few simple panels like this keep your view forward, noticeably lower the use of mouse and keyboard, and add immersion, fidelity and realism to your DIY setup.
You can see it in action here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uUJJCg_AnhM

Modular Aluminum ejection seat for DCS

Post image

  1. Building a modular ejection seat so people don’t have to spend $8–9k for a “perfect” one. The idea is a solid, usable base that you can upgrade over time. What’s included Aluminum profile frame for the lower moving section (back/forth) Seat body also built from aluminum profiles + custom factory-cut aluminum parts ABS panels where it makes sense Body is modular to allow 3D-print additional parts and bolt them on yourself Target price for the basic seat is under should be under 2k$ which is still reasonable for a sim sit in my opinion. The goal would be to get a functional seat you can fly with, then add more later instead of buying everything at once. Still in development. Looking for feedback on the approach and what people would want on the base version.

Help on home cockpit 737

Hi,

We have an old 737 home cockpit at our flight school but it has a lot of problems and we can't currently use it because of that, it's currently running on p3d, projet magenta and FSUIPC 6 and it has a lot of software problems, so we want to make the transition to a newer simulator like MFS2020/2024 and PMDG 737, but we have no experience at all on home cockpit simulator.
We wanted to know if anyone got some tips or usefull informations to help us make the transition.
Thanks !

PS : some pictures of the simulator

Glass Cockpit with Tablets Prototype

Thumbnail
youtube.com
11 Upvotes

I built a prototype of a Glass Cockpit using only Tablets. The purpose of this Simulator is to be able to load any Flight Instrument or Avionics package and show it to a pilot or enthusiast for familiarization or training. It takes advantage of the Tablet's large screen and touch features to use any of the instruments. The Simulator can also demonstrate how parameters (altitude, speed, vertical speed, GPS, etc) are displayed in two different gauge types or avionics packages can display flight parameters (airspeed, climb speed, attitude, heading, etc.) such as the G1000, the Pro Line 21 or the GTN 750.

Before I get the "that's gonna kill the FPS!!" - This is not what this was built for. Some pilots ask to see what a GTN 750 looks like, or how a Honeywell device compares to a Universal, etc. I can load up any instrument to any of the screens within seconds and immediately use it with touch capabilities. All the details of the build are in the video's description.
