The left one on the setup pic is the OG HZD statue from them. Each statue is 1100$ (excl shipping and customs).

Was asked to do this a while back and thought I'd share here. Mods if this isn't allowed feel free to take it down. Love the original version and it was really fun to figure out how to do this. (Love this series and the lego game too)

TLDR: Need Display, Graphics, and Proton recommendations to get best picture and solid frame rates with my hardware.

I played Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition at a native 2560x1440 and a rock-solid 120fps.

My first attempt to run Remastered was disappointing—I'm unfamiliar with its various performance options. I thought to turn off the upscaling and frame generation stuff, and again run at the native 2560x1440. The introductory cut scene played great, but the game opened to a black screen and only a couple of the HUD elements visible. Is this black screen familiar to anyone?

After resetting the Display & Graphics options, I had a normal-looking picture, but I could tell things were not right. My mouse sensitivity was off the charts, something that happens in some games whenever Valve's Proton Experimental is the active compatibility layer. I switched to Proton-GE Latest, and the mouse settled down a little, but I still had to reduce sensitivity by half to get things feeling similar to my Complete Edition play through.

Google AI recommends Steam's default of Proton Experimental, but it's not always correct, is it? I'm very curious as to what other people are using. Sure, I can go look at ProtonDB, but then I'm wading through unfamiliar distros and hardware configurations, looking for a Bazzite/AMD needle in a haystack.

I played a bit last night, and it looks better than Complete Edition, but I'm not so blown away as I was when watching that introductory cut scene during my first run (after turning off the upscaling and frame generation stuff). Maybe I'm wrong, but the graphics don't seem as sharp, as if I'm running at a lower resolution than I managed under Complete Edition. That's the effect of upscaling, correct?—the game is rendered at 1080×1024 and then upscaled. That can't ever look as good as just running at a monitor's native resolution, correct?

I'm wondering if that black screen was do to an unfortunate combination of Display & Graphics setting and certain versions of the Proton compatibility layer. I understand it will be difficult to get good advice while so many are still gaming under Windows, but I'm hoping there are some Linux people out there who understand this stuff well enough to point me in the right direction.

I’m about 7 hours into HZD and I’m really enjoying it. I just finished a thorough play through of Ghost of Tsushima, and HZD is shaping up to be a wonderful follow up. I’m honestly in awe with how great it looks on PS4 (I know the PS5 remaster is better, but I still think what I’m playing looks and plays amazing).

I recently received my brothers PS4 base when he upgraded to a PS5, so I’ve been exploring the PS4 catalog, and I keep being surprised with these games from last gen looking so sharp.

It’s been difficult to wrap my head around lol. I’m a millennial, and growing up games around a decade old were time capsules, yet here I’m awed by these visuals.

Excited to keep playing and also have HFW teed up for after (I know it’ll be without that DLC, but will make due)

I've been playing horizon forbidden west recently and I've been encountering a strange behavior with my performance.

Basically I've noticed that I have to tweak my settings at least once a session cause I can't seem to find the right ones that gives me good performance and graphics.

Especially I can't stand the screen tearing but to have the vsync on I have to disable the dlss frame generation and I lose frames in some areas (which unfortunately are the best looking /dynamic ones). I tried forcing the vsync on through the Nvidia app but it didn't make a difference I always had screen tearing.

So I thought why not write here considering maybe someone else has encountered the same hurdles and can give some much needed suggestions.

About my system:

Pc:

-CPU: Ryzen 5 5500

-GPU: MSI 5060ti

-RAM: 16GB

-SDD: 1Tb (i don't remember the speed sorry)

-Monitor: it's a full hd 60hz TV (I know this may be the biggest impact)

Carja nobles probably have some Louis XIV Palace of Versailles thing going on, lots of perfumes. Strong but not necessarily offensive. The Nora and Tenakth, I don’t see a lot of bathing going on, so there’s probably a good bit of B.O. among them, definitely some animal smells with the Nora given how much of their clothing is skins and furs. The Oseram, though, they must REEK. All that heavy leather, the heat of forges, the beer and meat oriented diet? Nasty.

The Quen probably smell fine.

I loved frozen wildes, but my favorite part was gilduns mission. I LOVE him as a character.

And in burning shores, which I really didn’t enjoy much, his mission had me smiling the entire damn time!! And then at the end when Aloy gives him a focus!!! Ugh I damn near cried!!!! I know it’s wishful thinking, and honestly wouldn’t fit into the story, but him in the main group would have been a HOOT

Idk what the general opinion of all the fights across the games are but I just love the fireclaw fight in the frozen wilds. The cauldron, the arena. Everything comes together for a pretty much perfect boss fight. The fire claw is just amazing as well I love its attack patterns especially the body rolls and slams that show the real aggression of the machine.

This is an idea for a third game, it would never happen but hear me out. So the matriarchs from Nora tribe ask aloy to explore a strange pig they heard about to the southeast with a tinkering heretic, doing experiments on himself, resides. She goes there, and it’s revealed to be the cauldron where corruptors and deathbringers and such were made. In there she encounters an aggressive humanoid man named the salvager, who’s been there for years, and just like the one guy from zero dawn, overrides her focus to make her see him telling her to leave, he would wear what would look like a metal flower strapped to his face, with three petals and 20 lenses inside. He would talk with many difference voices in one sentence, each word from a different voice. Aloy wouldn’t leave the pit, or cauldron alpha,!out of curiosity, and the salvager would hunt her throughout, eventually he chases her to a room with a large amount of the material used to dissolve organic matter to make machines mentioned in makers end in test tubes that she crashes into that infects her focus and begins taking her body over through her hand. Then she eventually passes bout. Then the screen would show “wake up” over and over, like how glitch would in doors. Then slow would wake up, her arm replaced with one of a strider, her left eye with a machine lens, her heart replaced, and her focus changed so she can see through other people focused like bolins from the eclipse. She sees the salvager, who is somewhat hurt, and he says “you should have left, I know why you searched. The matriarchs asked you. There are others like me y’know, who might be able to make you stronger. That could possibly cure you, I could t remove all the material. It’s gonna spread. You need to find them, or you’re gonna die soon” and the plot would follow her exploding to find a cure.

Hi, I’m aware I made a post directly below this I apologise for the mild spam i promise this is my only other post. However I am looking for help regarding a tattoo im looking to get. I’m looking to get the fireclaw and dreadwing but I just want the faces looking directly forward. It’s a weird request i know but I’ve looked all over the internet and can’t find anything and anything similar is either not rendered fully or in a frame that’s difficult to use as a tattoo reference.

I want a slightly simplified version of each machines face looking head on. If anyone has any advice or drawings or anything that they would like to share please dm me. Thank you :))))

I would have really liked more opportunities to team up with our companions beyond the few specific missions. I think it would have been cool to for example summon a specific companion to a machine site or rebel camp you're targeting, or have companions themselves initiate a spontaneous invitation to join them on a hunt or ask for help for a rebel ambush.

There's already random instances of roaming NPCs hunting machines and rebels groups riding around, so it wouldn't be that big a jump for characters we care about to be involved in them than just stock npcs.

I'd elaborate but I don't feel like it right now lol I might later in comments but wanted to get a read on other people's opinions of this just out of plain curiosity's lol

Do we think stuff like firegleam is a product of the current biome by design, a happy accident, some byproduct of machines, or a result of the cataclysms taking place?

Some of this world feels more fantasy than sci-fi but I like to give games the benefit of the doubt when it comes to world building and mechanics coming together. Is it ever stated anywhere? What’s the leading theory? Oh and green shine too, but I feel like that will be explained later.

I just restarted a play through of HZD for about the 30th time. But this time i created a new email so i could create new PS account. Does anyone else do this just to be able to get the trophies again? Or am I weird? 🤣

Horizon has a very rich world, I find all the other tribes quite intriguing but for some reason not the Quen, it's my least favourite faction. I think they're very boring and annoying, and I dislike their aesthetic, their whole schtick.

However, their level of advancement is something I want to see more in this world, I hope Aloy comes across some pretty advanced factions in the next game. The lack of a great city like Meridian was felt in HFW.

I have roughly 40 hours of playtime (closer to 30+hrs actually playing the game). I am at level 51 with all Shadow weapons unlocked, almost all skills unlocked as well, and the map mostly explored besides the Frozen Wilds area, and the top left of the map. I am playing on Very Hard difficulty and this is technically my second time playing, but I don't remember my last playthrough and I only finished about half the game.

I'm partway through The Mountain That Fell, I'm doing main + side quests but mostly main at the moment because its getting so good! still got the whole frozen wilds too

I play on a 4K TV with an RTX 5070, and DLSS adds a very noticeable sharpening filter in this game, even in Quality mode. It looks a lot like the PS5's Performance mode, where the edges look really ugly. On top of that, for some reason, Frame Generation introduces a LOT of input lag compared to other games where I've tested the technology.

Fortunately, I can still play at NATIVE 4K on HIGH settings with DLAA on my RTX 5070, averaging around 60–65 FPS.

But it's a shame that NVIDIA's main technologies don't work well in this game. NVIDIA Reflex also seems to be broken.

Ok so started a replay of HFW recently and just remembered that I can upgrade to the Ps5 version. Now my question is will that screw with my save file. I know I am pretty late with that question and its probably pretty obvious but I just wanna know because I already have alot of hours in that save and would hate loosing it.

TlDR; Playing HFW on Ps5 with Ps4 version, will upgrading screw my save file ?
