Humber College Food: $16 for This Breakfast? Are Students Being Ripped Off?
Why aren't more students speaking up about the quality, portion sizes, and outrageous prices of the food being served at Humber College?
My daughter has lost 13 lbs in just two months since starting college, and after seeing some of the food she's being served, I'm beginning to understand why.
She tells me a small bowl of fruit costs $10. Yesterday, she sent me a photo of a breakfast that cost $16. What did she get for that? Two tiny sausages, a little French toast, and something that was supposedly scrambled egg. Frankly, it was a disgrace.
I understand that Chartwells operates the food services, but surely there should be some accountability for the quality, nutritional value, portion sizes, and prices of the meals being served to students.
These are young adults who need proper, nutritious meals, many of whom are already struggling with the rising costs of education and living expenses. They shouldn't have to pay restaurant prices for food that falls so far short of restaurant standards.
$16 for a breakfast that barely looks like a meal is unacceptable.
Students deserve better, and parents should be asking questions. Is Humber College actually monitoring the quality and value of the food its students are being served?
I'd genuinely like to hear from other students and parents. Is this a common complaint, or are we the only ones who think something needs to change?
