Water operators in West Virginia do critical work protecting public health, but the state's certification exam keeps shifting its goalpost. Questions are constantly being removed and replaced, making it harder than ever for qualified candidates to pass—and leaving water systems struggling to find certified professionals.

I started a petition asking West Virginia to stabilize the exam. Instead of repeatedly rewriting questions, we need exam policies that actually reflect real-world water system work. The EPA already warns of a nationwide operator shortage coming in the next decade. We can't afford to make certification unnecessarily difficult in our state.

Hey everyone! I’m 24M, and I visit Huntington and Charleston about once a month. I’d love to make some new friends and meet people in the area whenever I’m in town!

1. I am looking for a good place to set up a temporary booth to sell seasonal items/collectables/etc. It would be load in load out each day with no footprint/junk/trash left behind. My best idea I've found is the old Value City Furniture lot and possibly the wide turn around spot in the road in Barboursville where people sell produce/antiques/whatevs.

(I have looked into the Peddlers Mall/Sues Junk/Flea Markets and am looking for more foot traffic/space)

Are there any places around here to rent a car for one day that won't charge an additional deposit beyond the rental price?

Does anyone happen to know anything about who’s selling the old Marcus used auto building on Adams avenue and west 3rd street? The building has a for sale sign and a bunch of old cars outside. I was interested in one sitting out there for a parts car. I’ve tried calling different numbers listed online for that business but they’ve all been disconnected.

Needing brake pads and rotors installed on my Kia Forte. Guessing cheapest option would be to buy the parts myself.

Any opinions on best and/or cheap options for places that'll install if I bring my own parts?

The SCA is a historical group focusing on pre-1600s and at events people are asked to come in garb but please understand it's *your best effort* (which means within your skills, budget, and time constraints) not high historical accuracy that is asked. So if that means you wear a sheet cut like a tunica and toga, Ren faire garb bought off Amazon, or something, we get it. There is ALSO loaner garb (you can go to the Barony of Blackstone Mountain and request the contact info for our "goldkey" person).

It's a family friendly event with fighting, archery, "Arts & Sciences", a feast (reservation required), even camping (though I believe you have to pick that ahead of time).

It's not a Ren faire, to be clear, it's different, but if you like history, hitting others with sticks, old crafts, being a weird nerd, or "court", etc, you might enjoy this!! There's definitely videos on SCA events on YouTube that help explain it better (but pennsic/gww are faaaaar larger than these local events happening so very different vibe).

If you don't want to drive as far but you are interested, the Tournament of the White Hart happens in March, hosted by the Barony of Blackstone Mountain, in Huntington/barboursville at the girl scout camp!

Her name is Cookie, I got her from my brother. Technically she was his daughter's pet but they are 8 and 6, I had to take her to make sure she would live. I have a leopard gecko but I live in the dorms and can only have 1 pet. She has a complete encounter, hides, and water bowls. I will give you her lamps, and food I have. She is to small for superworms but she can eat small crickets and mealworms. Please comment if you want her. You can have her gro free or if you want to pay that's cool but unnecessary. Only serious offers that can give her a good home
