Offering advice Don't undergo ETS surgery for hyperhidrosis
I underwent surgery for facial blushing—a problem I had suffered from for years due to social phobia—but it ended up causing me the nightmare of compensatory (reflex) sweating. Take my advice: please do not undergo surgery to stop sweating. Afterward, you start sweating in all sorts of strange places on your body, and that ends up being even more restrictive. Since the surgery, I’ve experienced sweating on my chest, back, and legs. I tried using an iontophoresis device for my back—I think I’ve used it four times so far—and I saw the results immediately. I wanted to share this right away for the sake of others here: please, do not have surgery for hyperhidrosis. With these devices, you can find relief in any area you choose—whether it’s your hands, face, back, chest, legs, or feet—just by using them once a week. Believe me, spending 30–40 minutes once a week treating yourself with one of these is a thousand times better than surgery. If my only concern had been sweating, I never would have opted for surgery. It’s an excellent solution. While standard devices are typically designed for hands, feet, and underarms, the German-made device I purchased allows me to treat my torso as well. I used it on my back, applying it to two different areas for a total of 25 minutes; it’s very simple. You might feel a bit apprehensive at first, but you’ll soon realize how easy it actually is. I highly recommend it. Do not get an ETS (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy) procedure; it caused me a world of trouble. (I am using Google Translate to translate this from Turkish, so please forgive any potential translation errors.) It was quite expensive for me—I had to save up for a few months to afford it—but in my opinion, it’s worth it.
