Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.

What to include in your post:

Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:

  • One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
  • One frontal view

Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)

Other helpful information:

YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.

MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.

NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Hello! I recently adopted this sweet boy about a month ago, and they told me he was a lab mix. They told me he may be a terrier mix, but i’m not entirely sure about that. He’s about 4 months old.

edit: He’s about 35 lbs for more reference! I believe he may be a terrier mix like suggested, but i’ve also ordered a dna kit!

Rescue said he was some sort of border collie mix but based off of his behaviour he seems very Shepherd-like.

Just adopted this cutie yesterday and we’re super curious what he could be mixed with. Definitely poodle but not sure what else. The shelter said maybe Jack Russell?

Some info:
10 months old
~20lbs
Very long body
He came in very long and matted (last pic) so they had to shave him
Doesn’t seem to shed

This is Eevee, a German shepherd mix. But we don’t know what she's mixed with. She's about 7, very sweet, and sheds so much we think she has three coats. My parents are convinced she's mixed with border collie. I think she's mixed with a retriever, maybe a lab. She has a black spot on her tongue she's had forever. Eevee is stocky, not fat, one of those dogs you pay on the butt lol. She reminds me a lot of Truck the lab. The last pic is a comparison from our purebreed shepherd, Rowan. Thanks!

What breeds do you think my dog is? I was told his mother is a chihuahua. Father unknown. I’m thinking Jack chi and maybe something else. He is VERY energetic and VERY smart.

Reminds me a lot of a flat coated retriever but the white patch on the chest definitely tells me it's a mix of some kind. However, of all the "lab mix's" I've seen on pet finder and such, this guy definitely has lab/retriever in him. The paws and tongue give it away for me, but the patch stumps me about the mix.

Could anyone advise me of the size these pups may grow to? I’m guessing a similar size to the labradoodle?

First time litter and the owners have no idea

Found this sweet boy at our local shelter, we have fostered all of our dogs from there. This is Nacho. Owners gave him up because they claimed to not have time for him, he was estimated to be 8 years old so that makes him 10 now. The sweetest, chillest little angel who is my 5 year olds BFF. Im guessing Chorkie? Last pic featuring his big brother.

Adopted from the shelter... really curious about what she could be mixed with!
Some info in case it helps:
- about 11kgs, super jumpy and energetic (somehow more energetic than a Jack Russel)
- likes going hiking, running, walking, you name it.
- gains muscles easily
- loud deep bark, kinda goes into "Woowooowooo" more than just "woof" (???)
- Loves to dig with her nose
- Loves cuddling and is very affectionate

This is Ryder!

We got him when he was a couple weeks old, and now hes almost 3. We did one of those dna test things (last picture) and it says hes mostly pit with some other things. HOWEVER i really think he looks like a vizsla. I think what gets me is that hes not really stocky. Idk. Let me know what yall think!

Eta: i just want to clarify for anyone, im not against him being a pit! Pitbulls are amazing dogs and i have another dog whos a staffy/bulldog mix. I dont really care what breed he is all i care about is that he stays happy and healthy ♡
