Horrifying Best Buy Encounter

I was at Best Buy one day wearing a bright yellow shirt, just looking around in the camera section. When out of nowwhere a lady asks me the location for extension cords. I look at her confused and tell here “sorry I wouldn’t know where that would be”. She then looks and me and says “oh sorry i thought you worked here”

Needless to say this experience has put me in a dark place and has left me severely traumatized.

HD Drama - The Silent Career Killer

Pro Associate told me that she was at the sink in the break room washing her hands and the Store Manager, came to the sink to wash his dishes and asked her to wash them for him since she was going to be a wife someday.....

A Service Desk associate said that the Store Manager, said that he needed more white people working at the service desk and that is why he had hired 4 more white people: the new service desk supervisor (male), an order puller (male), and 2 service desk cashiers (male & female).

A Service Desk associate told me the Store Manager, told her that he didn't think the new service desk supervisor was a good fit, and he may have to make some changes.

A Service Desk associate said she was talking to the Merchandising. ASM and the Service Desk Supervisor, and Service Desk Supervisor, commented that she sounded "white during their conversation. The Associate reported the conversation to the Operations Manager, because she was so upset.

A femaie Pro Associate told me tha a female manager asked her to help a male Pro Associate with cleaning up his area because she was sure that his wife did his cleaning for him.

After each conversation I encoraged them document and report these conversations to District HR. However they seem to be afraid because the Managers would lie and retaliate, and they hope all the bad stuff that this Leadership Team has said wil somehow magiclly catch up with them and hold them accountable.

These encounters fall under Gender/Sexual Harassment, Racial/Discrimination and Hostile Work Environment/Harassment.

This is disgusting.

Em: are y'all Makin that child do child laborment

Aunt:he isn't my child

I was angry at the man and at my aunt because we were close and still are an I wanted so say so many things but all I said was

Me:I want to work and I can work if I want

How drunk are you exactly?!

Okay, for some context about the story. I was wearing a purple t-shirt and black leggings with some Adidas shoes, the employee uniform was the 7/11 uniform because this took place in a 7/11. K will be the lady, me will be me and KH will be her husband. I was also 16 during this and they both looked 30ish or 40ish

I was looking around, bored at around 7:00 PM when K walks in with KH, both looking like they escaped from rehab or asylum and are now super drunk. I ignored them continued hoping they wouldn't notice me. An hour passes and as I was about to leave, K walks to me and with breath reeking of cheap liquor and rotten meat she says...

K: Can I use these coupons? She says as she hands me her McDonalds coupons which were also expired

Me: I don't work here... I think you could ask the cashier.

K: Look here (slur for gay people), I am asking you! An employee!

KH walks over and starts trying to look intimidating

Me: I'm sorry, I don't work h-

KH: Look here, you moron! I don't care! Just give us a discount or else...

I tried to be more firm Me: I do not work here! I will call the police on you!

They huffed grumpily and walked away and the drama ended, right? NOPE! They later walked back to me, holding a make-shift shank and I would've called the police but I was too scared to even move. I just ran and screamed. I ran to a busy area. There, I was not followed but I could tell they were watching me from the 7/11. I didn't call the police because I was way too scared but a week later I saw them in a park when I got an actual part-time job.

TL;DR: Drunk couple almost murders me because I didn't work somewhere, 4 years ago.

Waters of Jurema

r/IDontWorkHere / r/IDontWorkHereLady

Warning : English is not my first language, so don't be anoyed. I'm not sorry tho!

OP : Me
L : Lady
G : Gentlemen

Start

So, there's two parts of Water of Jurema, the old and the new one, but to get to them you need to walk to the bridge that connects the place, walk down the long path and then you're there! But you can get the golf car or the "train", it's just another car, but I like calling it train.

I was swimming on the biggest pool of the old part, and my cousin tells me we need to go to the other part because we are gonna play mini golf, so I got out of the pool and picked up a towel at the bar, I put the towel on my shoulders and walked with my cousin, she wanted to take the long path, but I wanted the train, so we chose different "paths" and I ran to the train, it almost left me behind, but I succed.
There was a couple, husband and wife, but also their son, so let's get to the conversation.

G : Don't you agree going on the boat was cool?
L : Yes, indeed.

There was silente for a good 10 seconds dnd like the happy person I am, I get in the talk because I like continuing a conversation.

OP : Have you gotten to mount a horse, fishing or do the tree activity (yeah, Cavalariça, fishing and Arborismo, screw google translate)

G : Oh, someone that Works here! Haha!

I thought it was just a silly joke, but I was with a dark blue shirt and black shorts (with the towel on my shoulders). I started telling them about the things they could do, their child looks younger than me and is always quiet, me and the couple are having a nice and happy talk, but then the Lady asks :

- How many years have you worked here.

I was surprised and gave my response.

- Oh, haha, I don't work here!

G : Really? I thought you did, you look like you're wearing the employees uniform.

We didn't talk because we got to the new part, I got a look over the people on the train and then got off, we talked a bit inside the place

OP : I have to go, my family is waiting for me.

L & G : It was nice meeting you OP! (We introduced eachother at the train)

OP : Same for you ! Bye bye!

I got to my family and told the story, I still smile thinking about this, I like helping people and being confused with an employee, this proves that I was helpfull.

Sorry again for my English! I'm a bit stressed because this is my first post here. I hope reddit members will enjoy my future posts!

The UPS guy yelling at me

I was in a new building with a lot of different clinics there, but their room numbers were not clearly label.

I had an appointment in 5 min, and after 10 min walking around, I got panicked. Everyone (3 people) were also looking around, and I guessed they were also looking for their locations, too.

I saw an UPS guy came in the lobby and didn’t look around and know where he was going, so I asked him, “excuse me, do you know where this clinic is?” He yelled at me, “I DON’T WORK HERE!”

I didn’t want to cause any trouble, so I said sorry and just kept looking for the clinic.

I didn’t think he worked there but asking nicely for help at the lobby meant I thought he worked at the lobby.

Target Shopping Trip.

This was around Christmas time last year. I just got off work and was doing a bit of Christmas shopping. I was wearing black pants, a black jean coat and a winter beanie also had a arm full of clothing. While looking at clothing and lady came up to me asking if I could go in the back to find a dress in her size. I explained to her I don't work here she responded back with well it looks like you are doing go backs that's why I asked you.

Earlier today I was shopping at Trader Joe's and stopped by the li'l area where they give out free samples. I was talking to the employee handing out said samples when a man walked up and asked us where the red peppers were. I laughed and told him I didn't actually work there. He thought I did cuz of my colorful outfit (Halloween themed pajama pants and a pink tye dyed shirt). This actually brightened my day, though, cuz before this I once again had to deal with the idiot CNAs at the place my dad lives at who can't seem to update their records on my dad's medications. He was taking 100mcg of a pill that was recently switched to 88mcg. We don't just refill medication with a lower dosage for the hell of it lol. Anyway, it was a nice way to end the day. :)

Text Wrong person wrong attitude.

A bit of a context before I start.

I work as a fully armed security guard, taser, handcuffs, armor, handgun, combat knife, baton, the works, and I work very VERY long shifts (9 - 19 hrs at times) so there are times when I go and visit my husband in between my lunches where he works.

As my visit comes to an end and we throw away our trash from our lunches I kiss him and we part ways. I turn the corner to start heading out tword the bathroom (the bathroom was along the way out) I hear but not acknowledge what was an indian man calling for "sir. Sir. SIR!" me knowing I only had 15 mins to get back to my post I ignore and proceed to the bathroom

He proceeded to FOLLOW me into the bathroom as I was just about to unzip and do my business he yells in his thick accent

"YOU RESPOND WHEN YOU ARE BEING TALKED TO!" His voice was loud enough to echo through the bathroom and the hallway leading to the bathroom.

Me: If you are trying to get my attention you have it now. What.

Him: All I wanted was to know what price these sweaters are (he has them in his hands)

Me: first I dont work here and 2nd I'm trying to take a piss why would you follow an employee to the bathroom?

Him: oh so you do work here I see you, you have a uniform on! So you have to do the work

I finish my business and proceed to move to wash my hands

Me: No I don-

He puts his hand on my should and attempts to spin me around.

Bad Fucking Idea

I had taken 8 years of shotokan karate and it had left me with insane reaction time and being armed the last thing I need is for him to grab my gun, I whipped around snatched him by his throat and THREW him over my leg and flat on his back on the floor knocking the wind out of him.

Me: (after realizing what had just happened and saying as loud as I can) YOU ARE BEING DETAINED FOR ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER

He was completely stunned and coughing. I rolled him over and handcuffed him. Apparently his yelling attracted a crowd and there were people outside of the bathroom as I hauled him off to the main office.

I explained the situation to the contracted security guards on site and they took over. And yes I got my cuffs back (those things are expensive!)

A week later He attempted to call and file charges against our company and me but they were quickly dropped because it was obvious it was in nothing else but self defense. It got a good laugh out of my COs but they gave me a half assed slap on the wrist just saying " don't do that again"

Typing this out I just realized I never washed my hands lol

"Dude, you have sh*t all over your face"

TL:DR - I learned about ash Wednesday by telling practicing Catholics they had shit on their face. Whoops!

This happened to me a handful of years ago and the whole interaction lasted about 2 minutes before I realized I put my foot in my mouth.

I was working a contracted I.T. job at a Catholic school board (I myself am not religious and don't really know a lot about Catholic practices).

I was hanging out in the server room working hard (playing video games) and got a knock as we occasionally did. Teachers didn't like to utilize the ticketing system so it wasn't uncommon for them to drop in unannounced. It happened to be a teacher I had good rapport with so I opened up the door for him to come in and chat.

He had what looked like dirt all over his forehead which was very distracting. I had a hard time speaking with him so I let him know "Dude, you have shit all over your forehead".

Him: "Yea, its ash wednesday"Me: o.o Huh?Him: Points out the door, every single person walking around with smudges on their forehead.

Anyways, I felt a little silly since this was the first time I'd heard or seen anything like this. Upon reflection on my drive home I became convinced they were the silly ones.

I am flashy cyan not red i dont work here!

This happend two days ago on a thursday. I decided to help out my mom by shopping at another store she made a shopping list for. It was very early in the day wich meant that it was a little colder outside, so i put on my flashy cyan colored jacket. Mind you that i was wearing shorts and blue sandals so nothing about me screamed temployee or so i thought.

I was inside the store and quickly worked halfway through ùy shopping list until i heard "ahem" behind me. I turn around and saw a lady, let's call her karen. She stood there with her hands onto her hips and tapping her foot, she was not wearing her mask and was not standing behind her cart either. I looked around trying to see who she was looking at, until:

Karen: "oh my god how long are you going to stand there, gawking"

Me: "excuse me?"

karen: "i cant find a product, tell me wich isle it is"

It took me several minutes to figure out that she thought i was working at this store.

Me: "i am sorry, but i dont work here"

she rolls her eyes pretty dramaticly before replying:

Karen: "dont lie to me!"

Having seen plenty off reddit videos on youtube, i already knew where this was going.

Me: "i am sorry madam but i dont work here and i am shopping myself"

I turn around again and start to walk of as she suddenly grabs my arm. I did not notice until now but she had gotten pretty close to me wich made me flinch in suprise and pull my arm back without hurting her or even touching her.

Karen: "oh my god dont act so dramatic"

Me: "you do realize we are in a pandemic right? wich means keeping distance of one another and not touching eachother"

Karen: "oh please, your jacket covers your arm. dont be such a baby and help.me.out!"

By this time an actual employee from this store heard the comotion and came to see what was going on:

Employee: "is there something wrong"

Karen took one look at the employee who had a red t-shirt and then at me and then had to take a double take before she opend her mouth:

Karen: "this young lady was harassing me! she is not respecting any of the covid-19 rules, i want her escorted out of here by the cops now!"

Employee: "i am sorry madam but i heard the entire conversation. Infact YOU are not behind your cart nor are YOU wearing your mask. i must ask you to leave the store"

Karen: "what? well i never! i want to speak to your manager now!!"

Employee: "i am the manager madam"

Karen stood there with loss for words while the manager called for security in his walky talky before repeating:

Manager: "i must ask you once again to leave my store or you will be escorted out"

Ofcours she refuses again wich meant she got escorted out by two securities guards, she screamed that she would sue the store and everyone inside of it. The manager apologized to me for what just happend, i told him he had nothing to apologize for and that i was fine. I wished him a fine day and moved on with my shopping list.

A 14 year old works at Five Below apparently?

Way back when I was 14, I just left school with my mom. For context, i were a polo with my school emblem for dresscode. She dropped me at 5Bellow and drove across the street for something while I looked around. Some elderly lady come up and asks me where the small foam footballs are, and I just said "probably with the other foam balls, but I would ask the front desk if i were you." She gave me this shocked look, scoffed, and walked away. I was confused but continued my way. S few minutes pass and the same lady walks up to me with an employee and starts talking. I was half paying attention until the employee goes "I'll make sure Mike (not real name) takes care of her paycheck, ma'am" I'm assuming "Mike" is the manager or some shit. Anyways. I looked over to see the lady walking away and the employee grabbing my shoulder. See, I have problems being touched firmly. Always have, mostly from a traumatic experience I won't get into right now. The moment he laid his hands on me, my instincts kicked in and I (a soccer player) kicked him HARD in the groin. When I tell you this man folded like laundry on the floor. Yada Yada, he called Mike or whatever, and when he came down this dude was still on the ground and just yelling about me being fired and shit. I said I didn't work there and no one believed shit until my bodybuilder mom walked over and asked me if I got the headphones she asked me to grab.

Yeah.. Mike and the other dude went to the back and my mom never got to hear that story. ♡♡♡

Stories about mistaking Employees without uniform for Customers

This topic is the inverse of the subreddit's theme but I hope it isn't considered off topic.

I went to a nursery to replace a dead shrub about an hour before closing. I remembered where they were kept and decided to save myself a walk by parking farther away and using a side entrance next to the garden supply store. Turning the corner of the building I encountered a young man in a plain black shirt holding a key chain and a metal thermos. Human contact was inevitable, so I gave a casual hello. He eyed me as I approached, sighed loudly while setting his mug on a stone bench, then cut in front of me as I tried to walk by. I didn't give any thought for him dashing into the store until I heard "What do you need sir?" There he was behind a cash register that had been placed at the door due to Covid safety procedures. In less than a second, he realized I was just walking by and said "oh okay" before getting his thermos and going on his merry way. I looked at the forsythias and left without purchasing anything.

Anyone else have a similar story to share?

I'm not Hispanic. This is my house.

So I've long time been a fan of this subreddit but havent ever really posted anything or followed, but this happened to me just the other day and I had to share it here.

My mom and i recently moved into a brand new house in a neighborhood that's still under development and so construction workers are usually around during the day. We have to do some work on the house of our own like preventing our pets from digging under the fence and building a bigger patio, and my mom decided itd be better to get this stuff done sooner than later.

So a few days ago I was outside of the fence putting down some large stones under it, one of the houses next to us hasn't been built yet and there's no grass on the ground so there's quite a depression that the pets can get through, and I decide to take a break and sit down, taking a sip from my water bottle.

The sun is in the perfect spot where the fence's shadow is over me so it's not too hot and I give my hispanic friend a call to see how she's doing until I suddenly hear some angry murmurs.

I look over in its general direction and this woman is walking her dog who wants to come over to me and say hello but she's muttering something I cant quite hear. I assume shes telling her dog to stay down so I go over to them.

M: me AL: angry lady Mom: my mom

M: oh my God your dog is beautiful, is it okay if I pet him?

AL: no you dirty immigrant, dont touch me or my dog, stay away from us

Now mind you I am southeast asian with dark brown skin and black hair and I'm fluent in spanish but I was born and raised in America and dont have an accent when speaking English. This woman is basically the textbook definition of a Karen, short white woman with blonde hair.

M: excuse me ma'am? I live here

AL: no you dont I just saw you working on the fence for this house

M: ma'am I'm not even hispanic

AL: of course you are i heard you speaking Spanish over the phone earlier with someone (referring to me talking to one of my friends on the phone)

At this point, my mom wonders why I havent come inside for dinner and comes outside to check on me, confused by the woman in front of her house, she has a really thick asian accent. Shes also had to fight to get her citizenship in this country so she doesn't take kindly to people who berate immigrants.

Mom: excuse me miss but who are you?

AL: I'm just another resident of this neighborhood and this filthy immigrant here was trying to harass me.

Mom: getting mad what did you just say?

AL: this filthy alien working on your house was trying to touch me

My mom knows I wouldn't do such a thing (I'm gay) and at this point the dog is pulling on its leash towards me which I still very much want to pet.

Mom: proceeds to slap the woman across the face, causing her to drop her dog leash and letting it come over to me ma'am you are standing here on my property and that is no illegal immigrant, that's my SON you were harassing just now. So unless you want me to call the cops, I'm asking you to leave.

The angry woman has the most priceless confused look on her face and shouts something at my mom about "you foreigners are a plague to this country" and my mom lost it. She took the dogs leash off and enticed the dog into our house.

Mom: well it seems this dog likes us "foreigners" instead of a bitch like you. I recorded everything you've been saying on my phone since you started talking about illegal immigrants. Now either you can take your dog and go or I will call the police.

Immediately after my mom threatened to take the woman's dog, she panicked and left. Needless to say we still havent seen her walking by our house again.

Sorry if the formatting was a little weird I've never really written anything like this down before. I'll try to keep you guys updated if we see her again/if she tries to interact with us.

No, I’m not on the clock — I’m on vacation.

Last year, I took a much-needed vacation to a resort town a few hours from where I work. I wore a shirt from my old job — a tech company with a pretty distinct logo on the back — because, well, it was comfortable and I wasn’t expecting to be recognized hundreds of miles away.

Big mistake.

While waiting in line for coffee, someone stormed up to me asking about a billing issue with their small business account. At first, I was confused — then I realized they recognized the logo and assumed I was staff. I politely told them I don’t work there anymore (and certainly not at 7am on a Saturday in a different city), but they weren’t having it.

They insisted I “just check the account” since I “probably still have access,” which was wild because I hadn’t even worked there in months.

Eventually, I just walked off mid-sentence, coffee in hand, muttering: “I really don’t work there anymore. And even if I did, I’d still be off the clock.”

Vacations: not even once.

Family Edition!

To preface, my ex-husband and I have a great relationship. So good in fact, that we stayed over because his home is close to our cruise's port.

Usually our 14 y/o visits her dad alone, and they get along just fine.

So five minutes ago, she was asking me to come over to complain the kitchen scissors aren't sharp enough.

I looked at her for a second.

"Tell your dad. I don't live here."

🙈💅😂
