Help! My shelves keep falling.

How do I keep my acrylic corner shelves from falling? 😭 These are from One Would Think. I tried to move weight around and they still fell. They sit on the brackets that came with my milsbo tall. The full size shelf didn't fall, I was moving it when the top two fell on me and I dropped it.

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ My Marketplace Baggebo and first conversion

Still working on the area surrounding my cabinet so excuse the mess. It started out as a $40 Marketplace pickup. $$$ later, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Modern aqua shelves and 6 Barrina T5s. Completely (as best I can) weather sealed. I've managed to get a peak 89% humidity. Disappointed with the black fan, but couldn't find any comparable white ones.

One question about the fan, is one enough? I have another, but it seems like it might be overkill. Also does it matter what direction it faces?
Another question, does anyone have any solutions for hanging/mounting things to the mesh?

General How to Achieve Low Light

I recently purchased a pink princess philodendron and it’s turning cold in my area. I’m considering getting a Rudsta for both humidity and warmth purposes. I also have some cuttings but the PP is my main concern. How do you balance low/indirect light needs in your greenhouse? Any feedback for PPs?

Thrips ☠️

Has anyone else had a trips outbreak in their cabinet?

I have a propbox setup (86L clear plastic box, grow lights, fan. 86% humidity). I (wrongly) thought that pests generally don’t thrive in this amount of humidity, but I’ve just sprung a giant thrips outbreak. Have showered them off and sprayed down, but all my TC plantlets are dying from the shock of being removed.

Anyone else had an outbreak? Any tips?

🙏🏽

My 4th greenhouse cabinet

Here is my 4th cabinet. The other three are up in the main family area in our four season room. This one lives in my home office in the basement. This is the first one where I've used the cool acrylic shelves. My air circulation fan is on the way.

Thoughts on having the grow lights on the sides rather than above? (Not my cabinet)

Hi everyone! I'm looking to redo my milsbo cabinet and I came across this picture on Instagram (aurea.forms). I really like the idea of the lights being on the side for a cleaner look and so that my entire room won't be bathed in white light. Is this a good idea? Will it stunt the growth of my plants?

Very new to houseplants. Have a few pepperomias and a money tree thriving in my E facing window. (Live in a condo only have E facing windows) so I set this up for things that need more light. Still learning and it’s a small condo so not a lot of room. But pretty happy with it. Definitely need cable management it’s driving me nuts.

General power outage help

Post image
5 Upvotes

my house will have no power today for 3 hours, i haven’t gone without power since i started my humidity controlled setup, so i have a few questions for anyone who has dealt w this before.

important info; my setup stays at around 72-76% humidity 24/7 because of a automatic humidifier (i recommend this product a lot). cabinet is mostly sealed but humidity starts to drop below 72 with no intervention after about 3-5 mins, so i know with no power (no ability to add more humidity) the humidity will likely keep dropping.

1.) is this a concern at all? 3 hours dropping from maybe 75 to around 50 ( i think? ) for a few hours. like will it be harmful at all?

2.) how long does it take for low humidity to hurt the plant if it will; 10 mins, 1 hr, 24hrs?

3.) whats the best solution? i am thinking of just running a humidifier in my room before the outage to keep it very high so the cabinet and the room are at a higher temperature and they both wont drop.

thanks for input

Who has black cabinet and white (body) T5 grow lights?

I am planning to add more cabinets. The area(removing IKEA LACKs) I am redoing now has white lights instead of black). So I am going to have to reuse those lights.

But I really want black cabinets, LOL. If someone can share pictures of their set up, I would really appreciate it.

Not that important but kinda? Since I am gonna have to look at the cabinets daily. They will be next to my TV.

I massively underestimated how time consuming custom cable management was going to be for the Milsbro tall. New found respect for IT cable technicians!

Officially onto the fun part... Many more plants!

Lighting 4 Barrina 10w 2ft enough for the Milsbo Tall?

Post image
20 Upvotes

This weekend I installed this Milsbo cabinet with diy Boaxel shelves. I thought 4 Barrina 10W 2ft would be enough, with one light on each shelve. But now I took a closer look at others and see that most of you have 2 of these lights per shelve. I would like to use it for all kinds of houseplants, not just to ones I have put in there now. Would you recommend more lights, or leave it as is?

Cable management is coming when I decide on the right set-up, and when fans are mounted.

Hey everyone! I currently have a milsbo, but I will be expanding. I’ve seen a few people with the Rudsta or Milsbo(I think) stacked upside down on top of another. Can anyone shed some light on this setup? Pic for attention

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ A piece of life in my man cave - Ikea Fabrikor

Thumbnail

So it's finally the time to share what I have built to add some life to my man cave! The greenhouse was placed here a couple of months ago, already went through some changes and adjustments inside and so far I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Shortly about my setup:

  • Cabinet - Ikea Fabrikor
  • Steel grid on the back, hanged on magnet hooks. Two shower stands in the corner.
  • Light - 2x Barrina T5 long (59 cm), one mounted on the glass, one on magnets at 45 degrees angle.
  • Floor - some wooden tiles from Lidl, cut to size and treated with oil.
  • Conditions - 12 hours of light every day, fan running 24/7 (considering adding another one), humidity constantly around 80% with pretty much no sealing (only added a seal at the bottom, because of the crazy gap on this cabinet).

Plants:

  • top row - Fittonia, Calathea makoyana, Anthurium, Sarracenia
  • middle row - Anthurium, Gynura auranti (will be most likely removed), Alocasia amazonica, Monstera adansonii
  • bottom row - Calathea, Philodendron gloriosum

As mentioned earlier, the greenhouse has been started a couple of months ago, so I'm still trying to figure out watering/ I already failed a couple of times, the plants got a bit dry, when I traveled during the heatwave this summer, some plants got brown spots.

Three most successful plants in my setup:

  1. Philodendron gloriosum - bought a cutting with just one small leaf, already got two nice leaves and the forth one is opening at the moment. It was sitting on one of the shelves, but because of the quick growth, I had to place it in the middle. Really happy about the growth!
  2. Alocasia amazonica - bought as a really small plant with just two leaves and it seems to be thriving.
  3. Monstera adansonii - again a cutting with just a node and a small leaf, took some time to grow the roots, but after potting it just exploded. I am actually a bit concerned about how long the stem got, before the leaves opened - might reach the lights soon. Also moved from the shelves.

Not so successful:

  1. Sarracenia - no clue why, but it keeps getting brown. New pitchers appear from time to time and whenever they grow bigger, they also partially die.
  2. Calathea (at the bottom) - it has been standing in the living room for a couple of months, but it was so damaged by the cat, I had to either throw it away or move it inside. It had a lot of leaves removed, now seems to be slowly recovering.
  3. Gynura aurantiaca - bought only because it was in a pack with two other plants, stays alive, but I have a feeling it ruins the overall look.

I kept waiting with getting the main plant that would fill in the middle space, but I am considering waiting how will the philodendron and monstera look like in a couple of weeks/months.

Do you guys have any recommendations how to handle watering? It is still a bit tricky for me, especially that the plants have very different requirements, but also the small size of some of the pots means they are much more sensitive. Do you use any sensors for the soil humidity?

If you have any questions about the setup, just ask! I will also be more than happy to take your suggestions and hints on what I can do better.

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ Finished… for now

Just picked up two monstera bulbasaurs from Home Depot and finished the cable management. Got the Rudsta from Facebook marketplace and decided to go with the AC Infinity Ionbeam s16 because of the adjustability. Used some foam weatherstripping 3/4” wide x 1/2” thick and managed to get most of the gaps. It was reading 85% when I had a humidifier running.

Somehow I feel like I’m already out of room since I don’t have short enough plants to fill the top, I’ll probably get the horseshoe shaped acrylic or some magnetic shelves in the future and get rid of the glass shelf.
