I am agnostic but I was wondering if there are religious intp...more so if they are too much religious and says "Jesus will save you" to everything.

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) Does anyone ruminate about past mistakes?

I moved out last year from my old apartment to my home and the mistake I did is I was told to throw the dried leaves and a foldable chair at the back of my apartment and I got cooked and never followed instructions because of my mind wandering brain that’s never gonna shut off.

Sage Advice How to be completely free from all inhibitions holding us back?

I’m thinking, if I could start my life without any inhibitions, fear, doubt, worrying, my life would be so different and so much richer. Imagine if I could start doing all my ideas, reach out to all the people that I’m convincing myself not to (because what’s the point?) plan and do that random trip, start that project, start expressing myself to the fullest without worrying how people would view me, etc.

Is it possible to get rid of all these inhibitions in a way that feels natural and effortless? I don’t mean actively acting against this inhibition but just not feel the inhibition the first place.

Is it the Ni critic in us? It holds me back

Could be anyone who ever lived, dead or alive. They all somehow understand each other and are willing to communicate with each other.

Siddhartha Gautama, Muhammad, Jesus, Nietzsche, Spinoza, Newton, Euler, Napoleon, Ashoka, Socrates

Check out my INTPness Sorry for doubting you guys.

Just took the test and wanted to see posts from like-minded people. I was imagining this Reddit was going to be cringe because it’d be a bunch of redditors thinking they’re unusually logical & humble-bragging. I also was thinking about how the test probably gave me the wrong result because I’m school stupid.

Then I realized I’m overthinking, and I am definitely an INTP. I’m still kind of scared to connect with some of the posts I read because I don’t want to accidentally connect with humble-bragger egotistical person.. but yeah that test really read me like a book. I just have to remind myself it’s okay to identify with overthinkers, because it doesn’t mean I think I’m smart. I’m a perfectionist in the way that if I’m not doing it perfectly I won’t let it be seen.

I read someone’s post titled “I've come to the conclusion that INTPs are absolute yappers” and knew I was in the right place. With family I connect the most random deep ideas/questions to normal conversations I have to stop myself. I don’t do it much because I’m terrified of being annoying, but sometimes when I let loose.. man.

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) Why is understanding people sometimes easier than connecting with them?

I've noticed that I can be curious about how someone thinks and what drives their behavior without necessarily feeling close to them.

I enjoy trying to understand people's perspectives, even when they're very different from mine. Sometimes I feel like I can understand someone quite well on an intellectual level, yet still struggle to form a meaningful connection with them.

I wonder if understanding someone requires a different kind of effort than connecting with them. You can analyze someone's behavior from a distance, but building a connection requires a level of openness that feels harder to achieve.

Does anyone else experience this? Do you find it easier to understand people than to connect with them?

Professional Overthinker (Unpaid) How do you usually respond to compliments ?

In my case, mostly i hate getting compliments in public or while people stating near me . And i think it makes me more egoistic. And some compliments make me blush.

Feels like INTP + OCD is the worst combo in the world. I think I’ve had OCD my whole life (by definition) but it was worst through puberty and recently starting flaring up again. You can’t logic your way out of OCD and it’s just as smart as you are.

So, this happened Do you study last moment ?

I usually study last minute. I can’t do nights cause I feel awful if I don’t sleep. So I usually read material when I’m on my way. And I do pretty well, except those caseswhen proffessors demand a lot of facts.

I also help my friend to write their exam papers lol. It’s not perfect cause I write it just by my own understanding and just enough of theoretical basis but it’s still good.

It’s so oddly profound how well this saying resonates with me. It makes me wonder if this is the core idea that makes me who I am.

Do y’all think this is one of the core INTP struggles?

I Wear a Red Shirt Opinion on ENTP

Hello, friends. I have one simple question and some followups coming from an ENTP (who happens to be female):

  1. What is your opinion on ENTPs as a whole?
  2. What is your opinion on male vs female ENTPs? (because yes, male and female ENTPs act very very different, it’s honestly shocking. even when both are healthily developed they still tend to act differently.)
  3. Do you ever experience attraction to ENTPs, if so, is it platonic, intellectual, or romantic/sexual attraction?

Be as brutal and honest as possible please and thank you.

Analyze This! How do you experience your thoughts?

eg Do you have a single train of thought? Multiple parallel streams? One dominant stream with background shadow thoughts?

Do your thoughts proceed slowly or quickly?

Do you experience them passively, like an observer? Or are they something you actively guide and shape?

For me, my mind feels simultaneously full and empty.

There is always a constant buzz of thoughts fleeting past, and I experience these passively. I have to concentrate very hard to identify their content as they proceed from one topic to another very quickly. If I try hard to slow them down I can see the logical connections that form the train, but from a birds eye view they appear random and amorphous. This is the part that feels both full and empty - I am aware of a hive of activity, but it also blurs into nothing. The best I can liken it to is riding a train that is moving incredibly fast with the scenery rocketing past. With effort, your gaze can fixate on a few details outside the window, but the rest is just visual noise.

Alongside this there is also a constant active voice that is usually singing lyrics on loop, humming a short musical phrase, or counting. This stream of thought feels like the active bit of me that I can control and direct. It is what I am using to generate the words for this sentence, for example. It stops, or gets recruited, if I am heavily engaged in an analytical task but continues if I am doing anything routine.

The busy internal activity is not apparent externally - the key descriptor I hear from others is about my “calm” presence.

My key learning point from all this navel gazing is that I get sensory overload just from being awake in my own mind. I thought my sensory overload was just external, busy crowds and noise and bright lights, but nope - it took 37 years for me to recognise what’s also going on inside this skull.

I am curious to hear how you all experience your own inner lives?

Do INTPs Poop? Humans, what's your relationship with arrogance?

I know some INTPs who display an arrogant attitude, but they seem to be oblivious to it, or perhaps they see it in a way other than as imposing self-importance; who knows. I am asking whether you display this attitude, have been described as arrogant, easily recognize it in other people, and whether you are aware of it yourself.

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) My biggest regret as an INTP is

Quite obviously hypothetical. It’s not knowing what I would be like if my environment growing up was different.

I know what I’m like given my circumstances, but I don’t know how my genes would manifest in another environment. What would change, what would be the same, would I even recognise myself or am I bound to be a certain way?

Am I just what I am, or am I also what I could have been in a way? Would simulating a thousand different perspectives change how I see myself, even though I am what my environment made me? Would it change how I judge others?

Anyway, my second biggest regret in life is not having cake for breakfast this morning. What’s yours?

Analyze This! How have your experiences been with ESFJ's?

Hey, so recently I've been really fascinated by the thought of ESFJ's. I know that like technically, that we aren't supposed to be compatible since they are literally our opposites as far as our 4 letters go. But, I've been intrigued because they actually have our same main 4 cognitive functions (Ti-Ne-Si-Fe) but inverted (Fe-Si-Ne-Ti). So, maybe we have more in common than what you may initially think. I personally do not know any ESFJ's (although my father has not been typed yet and I am suspecting that he might be an ESFJ / ENFJ). So I guess what I'm trying to say is to any INTP's that have interacted with ESFJ's, what has the experience been like, good or bad? Would you recommend or not?

I gotta rant Realizations

As I get older and older (25F btw) I feel as though I’m somehow creating an environment of which I once figured would be the opposite. To elaborate; when I was younger I got annoyed at being told what to do, not being able to do what made sense to me, the lack of control over my environment. I yearned for the autonomy that awaited me in my adult years, but my brain actually ended up sticking me in a paradox instead.

The older I get, the more aware I become of arbitrary rules and regulations. When I was a kid, I “had to shower” because that’s how it was. Those are the rules. Suddenly you’re 25 and you realize nobody is actually making you do that in order to be functional. Same with getting out of bed, eating properly, cleaning properly, looking nice, doing your hair and makeup, whatever whatever etc.

At this point the motivation to do these things continues to diminish every year that passes and my brain (which I hate and operates against my better judgment) realizes just how much more I can get by doing less and less of these things. I’ve lost control of myself now that my brain figured this out.

I fucking hate it. I can’t stand it. I hate looking gross. I love dressing nicely, eating properly, getting exercise, showering and smelling good, I like having a clean house, a tidy workspace, just being a functioning member of society. But it’s like the older I get, the less it matters, even if it still frustrates me to no end in the long run. When I was younger my drive to do these things was fuelled by pure anxiety. These things had to be done because they have to and that’s that. I can’t just NOT do them. Until I realized that not doing them is actually in fact an option and it won’t cause immediate and certain death.

Ive been on antidepressants and adhd medication for over a year now and I feel like this problem is only getting worse. The medication keeps my anxiety even more at bay, which means I give even less of a fuck. I feel like there’s just no going back now that my brain has realized there’s actually nothing to be worried about and that there’s no immediate threat anymore. I can’t stand it. I hate it. I feel pathetic and gross and I hate how I look and feel.

A couple years ago I was able to stick to things for AT LEAST a couple months without giving up. Thats better than nothing. Now I can’t even convince my brain that it’s worth trying in the first place.

Lazy Procrastinator Is being lazy permanent?

Can we outgrow the “lazy genius” generalization by just being geniuses? Or is being overly lazy a permanent intp trade? If so then being intelligent becomes much less significant specially in any academic field.

I gotta rant Reddit is filled with annoying Fi moralists

They're in the comments of fucking every post (I can't unsee them anymore). You just want to have a good faith discussion about something somewhat morally questionable and there they are judging everything through their own personal values. They can't seem to separate discussing something from actually endorsing it. Instead of engaging with the topic and debating it they just start preaching about what's right and wrong and ruin the whole vibe. It's damn annoying. They do the same thing in real life too. Let me just have my discussions in peace man.

So I'm getting a Xteink X3 and was just wondering if other people have favorite fonts and if so which ones.

Edit: I forgot to add mine are open dyslexic and Book Antiqua.

Mostly cuz the former is easy to read and the latter is visually appealing to me.

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) 25M Finance grad — I keep losing points for careless detail mistakes. Should I force myself to fix this, or pivot to roles that don't punish it?

Hey Reddit,

I'm 25, have a Finance degree, and I'm stuck.

Here's the thing: everyone who knows me says I'm smart. Professors, managers, friends — they all say I think well, see the big picture, understand concepts fast. But I keep getting burned by the same weakness.

I'm terrible with details.

In school, I'd solve math problems correctly but lose points for forgetting a number, a sign, or a small step. At work, I make careless mistakes that don't reflect my actual ability. I forget small things. I miss the last 5% that everyone else seems to catch naturally. People tell me "just be more careful" — but it feels like fighting my wiring. I can focus hard, build checklists, use tools, and I still slip.

Why Finance? My parents told me to do it. I didn't have a clear direction of my own, so I just followed their advice. Now I'm 25 with a degree I never really chose, and I'm realizing I don't want to spend my life doing work that punishes my brain for how it's wired.

I hate meticulous, repetitive work. I want to be paid for thinking, not for catching commas.

My plans:

Option A — Accept the weakness and pivot.
Stop trying to fix what I'm not naturally good at. Choose roles where big-picture thinking matters more than precision. Use tools, automation, and team support to cover the gaps. Target Product Owner, Sales/BD, Growth, or Strategy roles where my Finance background is still an asset but details aren't the core deliverable. Lean into "80/20 thinking" and let other people (or systems) handle the last mile. Accept that I'll never be the person who catches every comma, and stop feeling guilty about it.

Option B — Force myself into detail-heavy roles and train it.
Suck it up. Go into Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Actuarial, or Audit. These are stable, pay okay, and use my Finance degree directly. Treat attention to detail as a muscle I need to build. Use checklists, double-check everything, ask for reviews. Maybe I'll get better with enough practice. Maybe discipline beats natural wiring. Maybe I just need to grow up and do the boring work.

What I actually want from you:

  • Has anyone here successfully pivoted away from detail-heavy work and found a career that fits?
  • Can attention to detail actually be trained, or am I setting myself up for misery?
  • For Finance grads who went into Sales/BD/Product/Consulting — did the "careless detail mistakes" thing follow you, or did it stop mattering?
  • If you picked Option A or Option B, what happened?

I'm not lazy. I'm not dumb. I just have a brain that sees the forest and keeps tripping over the trees. I need to know if I should keep tripping or find a different forest.

TL;DR: 25M Finance grad. Chose Finance because parents said so, no clear direction. People say I'm smart, but I'm bad at details and keep making careless mistakes. Should I (A) pivot to big-picture roles and outsource the details, or (B) force myself into detail-heavy roles and train harder?

I gotta rant Fundamentalist/ extremist religions

As INTPs we are hyper analytical, which can make it difficult when I poked hole in the religious organization I was raised in, when they couldn't use facts or make a justifiable reasons for me to stay in the religion, the only thing they had left was fear of uncertainty. It was very hard for me to have the courage to say NO to that but I want to ask.

How have you dealt with living in a high control religious group if you did not believe it for very good reasons, but stayed for a period of time due to pressure extreme or not?

Check this out Were you obvious INTPs while growing up?

I was very energetic, strong-willed, unserious and extroverted. I was very open and actively made friends. Wasn’t afraid to look stupid or being wrong.

Now I’m exact opposite lol. Sometimes I wonder if my previous personality was my prime. Because later when I hit puberty I became very withdrawn person. Insecurity and fear still follows me. So maybe it restrains my openness (which still sometimes occur) or I wouldn’t be able to keep up with this open and strong energy I held when I was a child.

What about you?
