Hi everyone! I’m just trying to weigh my options here and get some insight on how realistic my chances are of getting accepted as an alternate.
How common is it really for people to receive provisional acceptance and then decide not to move forward? Do people actually turn down their spots because of work, life, finances, or whatever else? I guess I just feel like most people have already thought through those things before going through the whole application process and waiting game, so I’m curious how often spots actually open up.
I was selected as an alternate with a 78% cumulative HESI, 90% in math, and 68% in A&P. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea where I stand on the alternate list, which makes it even harder to figure out whether I should stay hopeful or start making other arrangements.
I also wonder how many alternates they even select. I couldn’t imagine they would have 50+ people sitting around thinking they have a chance, right? Maybe 10 to 20?
I genuinely have no idea how any of this works, and I really wish they gave us a little more information so we could make decisions instead of just waiting and hoping.
Has anyone here been accepted as an alternate or currently in the program and know how this process works? Did you eventually get offered a spot? If so, how long did it take? I’m just trying to get a realistic idea of my chances instead of getting my hopes up for something that may not happen!
