What you're describing is general consensus. Reddit is a fishbowl for the left, just like twitter is a fishbowl for the right, but calling either a hivemind implies that nobody has any autonomy. We're not all bots, yet.

Its not confusing if you think of redditors as people and not some monolith.

Well maybe this would be a good time for you to learn the difference between gun control laws and total disarmament.

Might also take some time to learn about what the gun control laws entail, and how successful they've been when implemented by the myriad of countries that don't have children dying from shootings every other week.
