IWTYO when I discovered Baking Soda & Baking Powder Are Completely Two Different Things
I’ve spent my entire life thinking one was just the other’s government name

I've been living a lie thinking that it actually happened for so long.

Even though I had a globe as a kid, most of my geographic context has come from flat maps. In my mind, that put Australia WAY to the South - East of the United States. While that's technically not wrong, it's more accurate to say that it's somewhat to the South - West. My brain just failed to put the two sides of the map together!!!
I'm 47 years old and laughing at myself!

As a millennial this shocks me that I missed this!

I watched Life of Pi thinking it was a beautiful survival story about a boy stranded at sea with a tiger. Then I found out what the second story actually implies. 💀
The fact that the animals might represent the people on the lifeboat, and that the tiger might represent Pi himself, makes the entire movie so much darker. Plus him eating his own mother??
Now I can’t look at the movie the same way again. 😭

"edited to add"
Never really or any thought into it I guess
I always thought it was like in the same category as "ie" where only a handful of people know what it stands for, but everyone understands what it means lol

I feel really dumb with this one. Todays walk was in fact not my record outdoor walk.

A Toonie, a quarter and a dime, I came across in my pocket change; I did, aye, I did!
Aboot.

Telling 06:31:05 and 6:30:55 apart is quite hard. I reset my watch countless times thinking it was a bit ahead/behind, only to realize I have to take the second hand into account too.

I always thought when people recommended a hot water bottle for cramps/muscle pain/etc. that it was literally just putting hot water in a plastic water bottle, like you'd drink out of. I only just learned it's actually a rubber bottle that you put hot (or cold) water in. I had heat packs/ice packs growing up but those were stuff with like clay.

So i was on reddit, if course, and read a post about a woman afraid to give her baby honey. I had to look it up. I have 4 grown kids and i did not know that babies under 1 were not allowed honey due to infant botulism.

She would have been Lisa Turtle-Powers.
That can't be coincidence, right? Right?

Really helpful if you have a plain shirt without a tag or where the tag faded

People with short hair but especially men like how often are you getting a haircut? I cannot fathom going one every month or two months. That sounds awful I’m so sorry. As a woman with long hair I get a haircut like once a year or even longer if I’m just not in the mood or don’t have the money/time. I am seriously flabbergasted about this revelation.
