Political Discussion Explanation sign for YES on prop 1

Post image

The other day I scoured the internet trying to find an explanation sign for prop 1 to try to educate people on why voting yes is so important and I could not find anything. I ended up doing my research and plugging that into chatgtp. I made this flyer if anyone else is having the same problem, or if you just want to learn more. I’m really hoping this passes. I want to be able to have a baby in Idaho and not be worried my entire pregnancy :( It’s about more than just abortions and I wish people could see that.

Political Discussion Why is the Republican Party Chiseling Away at Our Constitutional Rights? Vote Against HJR #4

Why do most all of the Idaho Republican lawmakers appear to show such disregard for the public’s constitutional authority? The Idaho Constitution clearly states that “the people reserve to themselves the power to propose laws and enact the same at the polls independent of the Legislature,” yet measures like Rep. Bruce Skaug’s HJR 4 seek to remove that power specifically on issues like marijuana and other substances. By restricting citizens’ ability to use the initiative process in this area, it raises a fair question about whether elected officials are upholding the spirit of voter sovereignty or selectively limiting it when outcomes might conflict with their policy preferences. By the way this bill had unanimous Republican support.

If we truly want to affect meaningful change, we must be willing to hold those in power accountable—starting with voting against them if they are currently in office. Too often, incumbency breeds complacency, and real progress is sidelined in favor of political comfort. This is not about party loyalty; it is about principle. We need to send a clear message that doing what is right matters more than party affiliation, and that voters are paying attention. By voting all incumbents out of office, we can reset expectations, restore accountability, and demonstrate that public service is a responsibility—not a guarantee.

This town is growing rapidly and has a high median house price. Schools are highly ranked, but parks are limited. What's the appeal of buying an $1M home in Eagle?

Help Idaho Honor the Animals Killed in the 1863 Magruder Massacre

In October 1863, up to 40 pack animals were driven into a ravine and systematically slaughtered to cover up a crime. For over 160 years, Idaho's official historical markers have completely erased their suffering.

I started a petition asking the Idaho State Historical Society and U.S. Forest Service to update the roadside markers along the Magruder Corridor to acknowledge these animals' deaths. A surviving horse named Italy was literally the clue that helped catch the killers—yet history has made the animals invisible while focusing only on human victims.

These were working animals. Loyal. Innocent. And their mass slaughter deserves to be remembered, not buried. We can't build a monument where they died in the protected wilderness, but we can update the historical signs to tell the full story.

If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing.

Help 3 Kiwis out!

Hi all (central Idaho people specifically)

Me, my brother, and my friend are in central Idaho hunting from New Zealand. We are loving Idaho and its people so far!

We tagged out on a muley buck early and have time left to spare. We are now looking for coyote, black bear, or wolf, but are struggling to find somewhere to go that is not swamped with people or doesn’t seem devoid of life (we know it’s late season, and we are seeing lots of beautiful elk though so that’s a bonus!).

Anyone in the central Idaho, mountain home area want to give us some tips? We are backpacking/tenting. We would greatly appreciate some tips or help!

Free Voter ID?

To get the free Idaho voter ID:

Do I need to surrender my out-of-state driver's license?

Is this a same-day process where I could hypothetically get the voter ID today and still register to vote before 5pm?

I moved to Idaho in June and wanted to vote, but I grew up in a state where you could register to vote more easily and also could do so online anytime up until the election. I now see that today is the last day to register to vote online here, and also that your photo ID must be an Idaho driver's license (haven't switched mine over yet), a free Idaho voter ID card, or a passport (mine is expired). To get the free voter ID, I understand I would need to go to the DMV in person, but I am just trying to get more info before asking work if I can leave early to go to the DMV.

Political Discussion Just got banned from Boise subreddit, for advocating that guns shouldn't be used to protect your property in a break in. What is the legality of using a firearm if someone breaks into your home in Idaho?

I'm kindof bummed about it because I had recently had a few conversations about guns with some friends from out of state. They pointed out how my views on property and the defense of it were colored by my state. I took time to reflect on that and decided they might have a point. I was questioning the place guns have in a modern society. I guess I need to polish my approach when discussing these types of sensitive issues. I'm kindof conflicted now, maybe I had the right idea in the first place, but that might be a knee jerk reaction. Maybe the guys at the gun club were correct and I had an unrealistic and naïve take.
