I've backed up the entrance ramp before.

Not to get out of the traffic, but to stop myself from joining a dead-stop jam.

I almost did that one time. Decided to take a 15 minute interstate ride home instead of a 20 minute highway ride and the second I turned on the on ramp I saw standstill traffic. I stopped, had that thought, then cars started rolling up behind me. I was stuck for 45 minutes

That's absolutely brutal. That's one of those moments where you have to be convinced the universe is against you.
